wow it just played right through ma heart and I totally feel each and every beat in the lyric.Because I just broke up with ma best friend coz I fell in love with her.
exactly this is what happened to me once years back and gonna happen next few days as well....no worries that's the nature of my life.......my life is always filled with sadness.....i love tears streaming down my cheeks................
@eydie57 No it isn't. I heard it from his own mouth during an interview. He wrote it for his daughter moving away to attend school. Listen to the lyrics: "Now the winds of change are blowing, and they've taken her away. I will do my best not to hold her back, but there's nothing more to say"
@davidfair2009 he has two daughters. one of whom was born in 1997, the other who was born in 1983. the song is from 1998. one daughter would have been a year old and the other would have been 15. now, i'm sure she's a brilliant girl, but going off to college at 15 is quite an accomplishment. and yes, i did notice that in your second post you said "school" and in the first post, you said "attend college." in theory, it could have been boarding school, but...
@eydie57 I didn't say his daughter went off to college. I said it's about her going. Like someone can write a song about 9/11 without being in the WTC that day. Either way, argue with Peter. He's the one that said it on Rick Dees' Top 40 Countdown..
How can you let go of a love when you realize that she doesnt need you anymore...How can you let go of a love when you cant make her happy anymore...If you know the answer pls tell me.
arrgh!! what a painful song..there is nothing WORSE than someone you love leaving you..and ya know...it always hurt ME more when a relationship ended and I was the one who ended it..I HATE being the catalyst for someone else's heartache..but sometimes you have to look out for your own well-being, and ostensibly, the other person's as well..NO ONE deserves to be unloved...
A very emotional song. reminds me of my old days in high school. i love the group Chicago.Think its done from real life experiences women are the most complicated creatures to understand here on earth,It hurts to give your heart to someone who does not have feelings for you.You end up living a desperate life in the world of your own. I have been in relationships turns out to be heart breaks and sometimes i wish why i do involve myself? but thanks to peter for composing such a relieving song.
This song has been the saddest, most emotional tune for millions of us men...and doubtless remains so. Going through my divorice, having my little family torn asunder and becoming a single father to my 3 girls... *whew* Flashbacks of just listening to Peter Cetera`s lyrics and just being consumed by raw, undiluted despair, guilt, sorrow, remorse, anger, hopelessness, betrayal, confusion and finally...sitting and starring but not seeing or processing...numb and vacant of any feeling-This song,my catharsis.
@BigHosMan ya know...that feeling is almost debilitating..you want to go out of your mind you are so broken-up inside..hope time has eased it some for you..it is a sad, unfair fact of life that people-women and men-all change over time..it is really impressive how you are "in touch" with those feelings and not afraid of expressing them..God bless..
@bunkieb00 Thanks,my friend, you are a kind soul. It is almost surreal how long ago and far away that dark episode of my life seems now.Almost as if it had happened to another man,but I`m that man-stronger,wiser harder perhaps.Very seldom do I find the old regret and sorrow of that other time..but,I did catch myself with my voice breaking recently when sharing with a close friend about that pain and hopelessness at having to go on...not the same but I know I haven`t changed.
@BigHosMan My daughter is going through same as you right now. She put up with crap for the last 8 years hoping he would change back to how he used to be & now she is dating and has met some lovely men she worries so much of hurting them that she's almost afraid to date them again incase it doesn't work out but this time she needs to be sure and how do you find that out if you don't get to know them real well. Her Ex moved out and within 3 weeks was shacked up with someone. Goodluck to you.
@Elle6887 I feel for both you and your daughter,Elle.Although my marital drama was 12 years in the past it definately was a life changing event for me,my family, and my kids.Your daughter is doing the right thing but it is kind of weird at first...all these conflicting thoughts and emotions.I can really identify with the whole "not wanting to hurt anyone" mindset.Just don`t let her go overboard like I did and begin to sabotage potential relationships. You two will come out the other side ok!
@BigHosMan Thankyou. My daughter is in her latter 30's and now afraid to date Men her age after the immaturity of her husband & being with him since she was 19. She is meeting Guys around 50 & a little older now...not sure how her Dad feels with some not all that much older than him. I just hope she doesn't rush into anything and make the wrong decision.
@Elle6887 I`m sure she will end up on her feet again and be a wiser and more complete human being for her ordeal. Sounds fancy but it is me scratching my youtube head and just wishing you all the best. Try not to allow her to hold on to the anger (longer than normal/healthy) and not to keep all those very natural feelings of hatred, malignant wishes, and bitterness a part of her life; thoughts and personality. Such a wellspring of negativity is a slow poison and is toxic to any possible union.
Pete, you have memories that come out in a good way, saw you in syd. aus. bac in 77 i think, Your t-bone sounded well, arggh Chicago right, best ever mate.
To imnotok , i ve been in love in 2007 , i remeber that she were the one who searching me , she tols me that she is in love & she could not live without me .
I loved her like a fool , & my big mistake were that i loved her more than myself ; because when she found a richer than me , she told me that i couldn't satisfy all what she desire , but i m happy because i free once again & i will search that one who deserve my heart
@onmoz good man!! she will find only emptiness if she searches for "greener pastures"..sure, economic times are rough..but good love will get anyone through tough times!! :)
She was down. I tried to help her solve the problems, I was always there for her, I did everything I could, more than for anyone else in the world, I was there when she was angry, sad, desperate, lonely or furious. And when she got the control over her life back she said I'm too prescious so she does not want me, because she would hurt me. How is that possible??? Please, kill me NOW!
Ouch. Man, I feel you; I've been there myself. You became her best friend and that's why she can never love you the way you want her to. For women, it's not worth gaining a lover if it means risking a friendship. You fell into the "friend zone" and trust me, no man wants that. The only thing that MIGHT work is if you ignore her completely and start seeing other women; trying to convince her that you're right for her will only drive her further away. Let her go; there are lots of other women.
@Brad2325 What makes me really desperate is that somehow, I always get to be the "friend". My relationships usually start out from a friendship or turn into one. No one hates me in the end, but I usually end up hurt. It is probably my way :) Thank you for the advice and your interest in my problem :)
@imnotok45 - Let me guess... women think you're great, but they're not attracted to you, right? They say things like "he's so nice and sweet" but they don't want to go home with you at the end of the night. The "friend zone" is a place where no guy wants to be with a girl he wants to date. What you need to do is learn new ways of behaving that will spark the feeling of attraction in the women that you want to be with. It's actually a fairly simple fix, but it does take time to learn...
@rededdster - no such thing, my friend. Sorry to be so blunt, but perfection is an ideal that doesn't exist in the real world. What's going on is you're idealizing her; you're assigning "perfect" qualities to her when in reality she does have her flaws, just like anyone else. Trust me, even if she IS perfect there are plenty of other women out there who are just as good as she is. I don't mean to be rude, just honest - I wish someone had told me this stuff when I was younger.
@bunkieb00 Yep, thats quite right. She had a lot of baggages, still I believed I will be the one to solve her problems. I was wrong. Additional info: since then she tried to come back to me (yep after dumping me) but I told her to forget me. And I'm alright since then. ;) Thanks guys :)
I like the soothing rhythm of this classic love song. Some people may say it's cheesy, thou. Favorite 5 stars. Thanks for uploading a song that's not so easy to find on internet :)
