  • Kate and Bjork ROCKS!

  • "Guilty Pleasure"! Get your head tested, then get back to me... Kate Bush is undisputable, irrevocable, untouchable. Put simply, she's simply unputtable...

  • does anyone know who the two actors are helping her in the bank? thanks.

  • always been a "guilty" pleasure.

  • there is only eccentric is Kate. i love Bjork but have met her and she isn't that crazy.

  • @cosmicbirds Who cares? All of Bjork's vids and some of her lyrics ARE crazy.

  • @jrmetmoi i don't think of her as crazy. i think of her as more creative.

  • when was the last time any brits saw a ten shilling note?

  • I was lucky enough to be there all day when Kate filmed this video and she signed one of the tenners flying around at the end.

Had seen her twice Live before I spent the day with her and got to really meet her after she finished and she was really sweet and kind.....and gorgeous :-)

  • DONT FORGET PJ HARVEY

  • After having seen this perhaps a dozen times over the years, I've just noticed Kate's double take at 1.39 for the "gelignite" line. FAB!

  • "The gouverment will never find the money".... Dear Kate, I love you!

  • Have there ever existed a sexier set of eyes? Man she's the original hottie and still has it after all these years. You go kate.

  • @kalelwannabe

It's either the eyes or that great auburn mane that seems to take on a life of its own. You can tell a bit later in her career, as she works out her persona. She lets her hair out full and keeps it out.

  • quite possibly the coolest girl ever, followed by bjork, tori amos, pj harvey

  • Goddess!!!!

  • Goddess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • innnnnitttt !!!

  • never forget

  • Kate is an original. There is nobody like her.

  • Brilliant and beautiful. I love the way she sings 'when you would carry me pockets floating in the breeze.' Sweet.

  • wow, I'm so glad she made a video to this song! makes me very happy!

  • Kate Bush is brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GREAT

    I appreciate a lot

  • Such a unique artist, I was a child when she was around, but thre was something mystical and magical about her, I recognised that as a child.

Now I'm older I think she was borderline genius at what she did.

  • @Jamerio3D I was a child when she was around, but thre was something mystical and magical about her, I recognised that as a child.

Well put. I noticed that at the age of 7, when i saw the Wuthering heights video on TOTP.

  • I love this song.

  • @TheWoodlandwitch Oh bashing Americans is so passe. I doubt she "refused" to be Americanized, she just wrote the song in her own British idiom. As if I wrote a similar song and used an American idiom. BTW I knew what a tenner was immediately.

  • @sonicdeath10 Bashing americans is fun, though. Hell you do it often enough to us.

  • @KateFan I, SonicDeath10, bash the British? Hardly. Half the music I listen to is British. You may say "Americans do" but ah, isn't that stereotyping me by the behavior of a few people in my country? Oops.

I actually don't think anybody should bash a country but its citizens. Trust me, there are many things abuot America and Americans that are bashable. But not being American, you wouldn't really get the cultural significance. As I wouldn't bash Britain because I don't know the culture.

  • @sonicdeath10 you're right, I'm generalising. Sorry. I guess I'm thinking of hollywood stereotypes.

  • @sonicdeath10 I may be hanging a cherry bomb here but...America can be criticised by anyone, ANYONE in the world in a larger sense because of it's prominence (and ills) in world politics. The Wikileaks case of recent should hammer this point home.

I actually approve the British bashing America, and visa-versa, solely because criticism can lead to improvement. As it happens, Americans usually make the wrong brickbats against Britain. PM me if curious about what to say against Britain.

  • @sonicdeath10 I'd be very surprised if she didn't avoid Americanisms actually. The other epitome of Englishness that is Morrissey can also be said to have done this.

I respect your duty to defend your homeland outright, however, it must be expressed that American culture does hang like a shadow somewhat, meaning any artist abhorring (in the Latin sense) it will have access to artistry such as Kate displays.

  • @owenhunt Fair enough. There are some pretty good American artists though, if we are to speak solely of music. I really love Fiona Apple for example though her lyrics are a tad BLUNT.

  • It's not that I'm defending my home land per se. It's just a natural reaction I suppose. I don't "love" America but I'm from here. Not a lot of great musicians are from America. You can't deny some great Americans like Warren Zevon or Fiona Apple.

  • @sonicdeath10 You have a right to censure any criticism you feel to be too cliched. Kate Bush probably would have a more lopsided appeal if she incorporated American influence to visible effect. Have no doubt about it, she will have and will still listen to American artists.

I think you and the person you originally took to task with are both right. And so am I. Are we in agreeance?

  • oh lordy, I like much of her stuff but hated this at the time and time has not done it any favours. Still she's inventive and tries new things so what does it matter

  • @TheWoodlandwitch reading such comments always makes my heart grow :D

  • my friend who worked at EMI studios often shared a pot of tea with Kate in the afternoons when she was in the studio, she wasn't even a Kate Bush fan!!, i was so jealous of her, being a hugh KB fan and still am. Apparently she was a really lovely person and very friendly... the only claim to being close to KB is that i live in the village where her parents once lived!!

  • "The Dreaming" in one of the best album's in music EVER!

  • Una pregunta: ¿Cuál es el tema que aparece en los primeros 10 segundos del video?

A question: What is the song that appears in the first 10 seconds of the video?

I love it almost more than the Kate Bush's song!

  • @fx33399 According to Shazam (an application for iPhone and other smartphones), this song is The Little Rascals, from an unknown author.

  • Aufnahmesfreiheit - a tenner is a ten pound note!

  • anyone ever got what a tenner is?

  • @Aufnahmesfreiheit A 'tenner' is slang for a ten pound note (£10) i.e UK currency.

  • @Aufnahmesfreiheit A 'tenner' is slang for a ten pound note (£10) i.e UK currency.

  • I love the way she creates stories with characters. Most of her songs could be adapted into films or something, as well as making interesting songs themeselves with of course brilliant vocals. Brilliant music, brilliant lyrics, brilliant song topics, brilliant singer. Just an amazing ARTIST.

  • She's not the only great artist, but we feel as if she is. She's so authentic. Real music, and a real person. I really love her early interviews. Despite her ethereal music, she just didn't try to be cool. She passionately shared with us, without any arrogance, how she loved Art, what a joy it is to write, to create. Why are so many artists ashamed of doing the same?

  • Not that i'm even close to being in the creative league that Kate Bush is in, there are people like me who are talented with our craft but can't bear to bring it completely to the public. It's so VERY personal that we "give" it only in fleeting moments. I know this sounds like madness but I know it to be true for me and some of my musician friends. The public will not see some of the most outstanding performances ever given since they're privately done at homes worldwide.

  • I love love love Kate Bush. I hadn't seen this video before and it's marvelous.

  • Kate Bush is absolutely marvellous.

  • She has got a very special sense of timing, with her coreos, her dancing!! I don't sing, but I do know something about dancing... and her timing for the moves is very very special, not common at all!!! I love that, you don't see it many times.

  • What's the intro music?

  • little rascals theme

  • little rascals theme.

  • I thought I recognized it!

  • her best album.

  • Kate Bush is so cute as a criminal mastermind

  • she actually did used to take marijuana sometimes, but that's not going to make her any more better at making these songs. Kate bush is unbelievable.

  • She is one of the most talented artists of our times. I put her up there with Bowie and Lennon.

  • My stepfather met and shared a drink with her back in the 80's. I'd happily have cut off my right bollock to have been in his place!

  • dodgy looking geezer sitting in a car outside the bank with the engine running, gelignite, ten bob notes and a george raft,

then it all goes pear shaped. Love it.

  • The most eccentric people tend to make the best music. Exhibit A: Kate Bush. Exhibit B: Tori Amos. Exhibit C: Björk.

  • @TearInTheirHands Don't forget Katiejane Garside. More obscure than the others, but still...:)

  • @TearInTheirHands Could I agree more, not possible! Throw in Florence and the Machine and you have a deal! :)

  • @TearInTheirHands ...Exhibit D: Siouxsie Sioux. and of course: Exhibit N:ina Hagen [list not complete]. ....ain't we just blessed to a.: have excellent taste and b.:loody youtube to avail us of it, at any time - often with footage I've never seen when I got into this fantastic music.

  • Says you

  • @basemann42

    lol, yeah she 'failed'

'The Dreaming' is one of the richest, most compelling productions ever put to disc.

  • Very interesting song.

  • Oh those whacky brits!

  • I don't care if she's nuts

    I love her!!!

  • ive a feeling shes totally drug and drink free when she comes up with these songs, whats it like in her head

  • Kate Bush is fabulous, she's an amazing singer, a brilliant songwriter, beautiful, utterly batshit insane and probably the only one who can save us if the world is infested with zombies. Love her to bits! :D

  • the dreaming was and is a stunningly original album.kate let it all out on that one.

  • Is there any kind of logic to the last line about the 10 shilling note, and that the "used to vote for him." Is it all just part of the dreamlike nature of the last verses?? Just WHO(M) did they used to vote for. I was thinking some pol's image was on the note, but looking it up on Google, it appears that all those bills have Queen Liz's image on them...

  • I agree with Magical cheese Muffin she is gorgeous and i grew up with her what a babe just to see her in concert xx

  • Fine.

  • Kate's a tenor. There's a tension in note. Take your shoes off, and throw them away. (Y'know what I mean?)

  • 1:39 is my favorite, funniest moment! Here dead-pan delivery of, "To treat the gel-ignite tenderly for me..." is brilliant. Genius and humor...can't get enough of that Kate Bush!

  • Amazing, De Palmaish, artistry!

  • cant believe that this was released as a single- they even considered a 12 inch remix single!

  • damn i hope i get to meet her one day.

i can't get over how bloody amazing she is.

that would probably creep her out, but meh

she's just so talented, it's overwhelming.

  • kate bush>>>>>>>>>>>>>.lady gaga!

  • Hey I want the same kind of drugs that she had while she was making this song / album !

  • Ponce, it's called creativity!

  • Genius. The Dreaming album is her most underrated, darkest, masterpiece.

  • "What are we gonna do with the money?"

    "I've got it!"

  • I would love to see this reposted in HD.

This vid is so hard to find.

  • Most female musicians today are overfed, overpaid hookers that have the charm, and grace of a Pit Bull. They certainly t dont have the intelligence to write their own music. As well, they cannot record music without million dollars worth of electronic back-up, and couldnt sing live if someone put a gun to their head.

  • @bigkim100 HAHAHA how true

  • @bigkim100 RIGHT ON!!!!

  • @bigkim100 Not? You havent just looked hard enough. The mainsteam music gets the most of the light.

  • memories

  • i'm definitely breaking out the 2:45 dance at the next party XD

    she's perfect

  • hahahahaha i reckon right!!!!...a bit of this mixed with wuthering heights:P

  • Robbing banks with Kate Bush. Hell yes :)

  • Lol...can i come?!

  • Love this song! Does anyone know where I can download this song? I've been looking for it for ages but can't find it anywhere

  • I think you just did!

  • the dreaming is one of my favourate albums on this earth. nothing has come remotely close to it's theatrical otherworldliness, however Planningotrock's album "have it all" is about as close as you can get. Another record that's gone completely under the radar despite it's genius. That said, The Dreaming is a creative surge that probably won't be repeated many times more within pop music.

  • I hope you remember to treat the gelignite tenderly for me...

Kate's only single not to chart - and it's bloody wonderful - like a mash-up of ska, Ealing Comedy and Dali.

1982 is when she left the planet and started to live in her own world.

If only she'd send directions, instead of just her snapshots!

  • yes' thanks i havent through.

    terry

  • my sister met her in 85.

    tj

  • I can't even begin to explain why Kate is such a genius, she's absolutely amazing.

  • MY Katie is a typical case of being wise and intelligent already in young years .... beside me ... :-) of course without her genousity and talent

  • Intelligent? "genousity" isn't a word! lol.

  • She's so beautiful! For fucks sake! If there is anyone out there who knows of a girl who is comparable to Kate Bush, and they tell me, they win a prize!

I'd shave my bollocks with sand paper to lick her armpits for five seconds!

  • ive never actually seen her with her hair up...love ya kate!

  • lol that was a relief( the bank job:p)

  • wow, didnt even know there was a video to this song.

  • She's the burglar of my life!

  • I had no idea there was a video for this. This video proves that Kate is not just a great Art rock singer, but an O.G., hahaha!

    "OK, remember...."

  • ooh my nice and love her

  • That's Douglas from The Lindsay Kemp co with Blk wooly hat on.

  • She never Fails to amaze me !!

  • I love how literal the video is! What a change for her, ha ha.

  • kate bush helped prototype a head mike, don't understand the reason behind the comment... is it supposed to be her fault that other artists lip synch? (because they will anyway!) Or are you saying that it's a good thing?

    coraclewoman

  • ...she also helped proto-tye that handless

microphone that most "artists" lipsynch into.

  • having a top 10 hit is achievable by any idiot. Witness the state of the charts at the moment! On the other hand, Kate Bush is doing pretty damn good for someone who never tours and had a 12 year gap between albums... and has a 30 year career based on her lack of commercialism! Talent will always out, end of story.

    coaracle woman

  • 100% agree coracleman. Kate Bush is a unique, multi talented artist, who IS an artist in the true sense of the word. I wish that she had been a little more prolific than she has, but she has recorded so many wonderful songs and presented them in such a visual way, that one can hardly complain. Without doubt a comparison between Kate and the state of popular 'chart' music today is pointless. None of the x factor 'garbage' can possibly compare. Thank God for Kate.

  • Thank You! finally someone who appreciates Kate Bush for the genius song writer that she is. I have just re-appreciated hounds of love now that I am married, listen to all her music again , you will find new meaning in her songs if your life has changed.

  • holy crap she's stunning.

  • Well obviously XD

Just listen to the lyrics and watch the video :)

  • I would love to have all of Kate's music videos released on DVD. Hell, some of the qualities post on Youtube are pretty impressive for something that's from either 1978, 1980, or 1982. Pretty damn good visual quality, I'll say.

  • i cant b-lieve this was released...its amazing but hardly top 10 material

  • she's so special

  • What about Edward G?

  • she's a looker ... yes indeed.

  • you are bogart, he is george raft, that leaves cagney and me.

  • Do you?

  • Do I what

  • Your fascination with anal sex is obvious from the way you keep coming back every few weeks to post the same message. But nobody wants to know. This compulsion to advertize your fantasies and share them with the world just makes you look sadder by the day. You'd better believe it, no one cares. So get lost, eh?

  • I thought assholes were what you liked.

  • Only people with very sophisticated taste are able to understand her music. I'm very happy to be one of them :)

  • Thank you for the compliment! lol

  • Well, leaving aside the references (at the very end of the song) to the fiver, tenner and ten-bob note, what is there in the lyrics that makes you think that's what it's about?

  • Yeah, but wasn't the song about the economic situation that was happening at England during that time?

  • Love your mother...

  • lord kossity

  • love the chord change in this song

  • I honestly think it is about the value of the British pound because tenner means 10 pounds. I think this is Kate's reflection on the deflation on the British pound during that time, though I could be wrong. Any Kate followers care to give me some insight, please.

  • Some people might claim to find poetry in economics, but for most of us the fluctuating value of the pound would be a pretty dull subject to write a song about.

  • "I honestly think it is about the value of the British pound because tenner means 10 pounds. I think this is Kate's reflection on the deflation on the British pound during that time, though I could be wrong. Any Kate followers care to give me some insight, please."

Nope, it's more likely a homage to 40's and 50's Ealing Studios' brit flick crime capers such as the Lavender Hill Mob, etc. Thats one of the things I like about her, she's not ashamed to be thoroughly English.

  • I thought this song was about Bonny & Clyde, but the situation is kinda same to it.

  • No, you love anal.

  • As an American i would have to admit that I've not met enough fans of Kate Bush in the States, but the ones that are there are enduring fans. I always have "the dreaming" close to my music player. I'll never grow tired of it.

  • Indeed, I'm not afraid to state that The Dreaming is the most brilliant, extreme, astonishing and beautiful album ever made. Ever.

    Absolutely amazing.

  • Kiegie, The Dreaming is a great album, but you've probably never listened to "Pawn Hearts" by Van Der Graaf Generator, considered by many one of the best recording feats and just as "brilliant, extreme, astonishing and beautiful."

  • Another Bush masterpiece!

  • ooooooooooooo

  • I love this song from "the dreaming".

I didn't know there was a video... thanks for posting this.

  • the dreaming is still my favourite kate bush album. this song with the moody sounding chorus (reminds me of japan) is absolute quality

  • the climax she builds up is terrifying

  • There's a power to her music. She can harnest it like a weapon or flutter it like a butterfly.

  • This song is so awesome! I have it on my ipod now, cause I love it so much. :D

  • Once Kate gets you, you never recover. You love her forever.

  • True

  • The dreaming is a not easy accessible album, it´s lugubrious, dark, strange. It must be often hearded, the magic will appearing, i think. There is no comparison with Never for ever or Hounds of love - both fantastic albums, too.

  • Yep. That's why I love the Dreaming (it's my favourite), it's so different and isn't easily accessible, and it makes you think. It's beautiful :D
