He's a beauty and you are lucky to have each other. My DYH is 21, and has just a little more yellow on her head. I love it the way they get more beautiful the older they get. Nice video.

does he ever bite you, like out of the blue or when he's agitated? my parakeet's usually tame, but sometimes bites me when he catches a fit. I'm getting a double-yellow headed amazon and wanted to know how tame they are.

I have a DY Amazon and that does happen... they tend to pick one person to latch onto... in this case Me... Shes such a sweetheart to me and unless shes in the cage wont leave my side... However if other people come close to me she will bite me HARD in a way trying to tell me to either run away cuz shes protecting me or make them leave. Other than that its just playful nibbling

@dpj1992 no real way to know how "tame" any bird is. they are ALL wild animals, regardless of where they come from. yes, mo has bitten me out of the blue quite hard at times. usually if a bird bites the one he loves he's trying to protect them from something that's come near that has frightened him. in the wild they do this with their mates to get them to fly away from danger. thanks for posting.

Sweet DYH! I love the "Hello, Mo Birdie!" Mine don't talk very well, but OW's are not known for talking well. Daisy does a mean trill, and Peter can hake all kinds of sounds. Larry Boy is my whistle king, he can wolf whistle with the best of them! My talker is my B&G Macaw, can get him to keep his beak shut sometimes!

Well, I adopted him when he was 18, so I can't say for sure. Just remember the more you talk and sing to them, the more likely they are to pick up on it.
