Unless it sticks, that pretty much removes any safety problem people might cause you trouble over.

anybody commenting about safety clearly doesn't rely on firewood. we do - the 8lb axe just over there is just as dangerous in my hands as that machine is. more so, i believe: this machine, you always know where the axe head is - when i'm swinging it at the end of a 3ft shaft, any number of variables come into play so the axe NEVER lands "exactly" where i think it will, especially if i've just done half a cord and i'm staring at the other half.

I wish could stop thinking about him accidentally slipping forward so that his head jams up the saw mechanism.

However - come to think of it - I'm sure the force of the blade's edge, combined with its velocity, should quite effectively cave in his skull, possibly leading to decapitation, whereby his severed head would THEN, surely, gum things up in the machinery, resulting in a "wrench in the gears" phenomenon, and ultimately contributing to a lull in productivity.

NOT very cost effective.

It would be neat to see this device made even better. If they were to increase the tangent force of this machine they should add a good bit of weight right next to the splitting piece. That way, the momentum would all be right there when the wood is split which would lead to greatly increased splitting potential.

Yeah, it has a one second cycle but efficiency is lost when many of the logs take several attempts to split. Factor in the probability of losing a limb or digit when using this thing and I'll pass on it!
