  • I agree, this console looks badass

  • @L1Games

Thanks for your advice! I'll definitely grab it! I subscribed to your channel--great, informative, high quality vids! Keep up the good work--your channel is one of the best in the YouTube gaming community!

  • Hi L1Games! I'm an American living in Japan, and just today, I found a Gamecube Q for about 6,000 yen (around $70). There's no controller, only the console system itself. What do you think, is it a good buy? The game store staff told me it has just been sitting on the shelf collecting dust!

  • @diliosthegreek1

that's a great deal! you can use a regular gamecube controller on it and if you want to get an actual gamecube q controller, you can snag one on ebay. you'd be really well off if it was one of the modified ones!

  • awesome console

  • The gamecube had so much potential but unfortunately they had to use a small disc and ruin it's capabilities

  • You've got a good voice for these reviews. -Tim

  • in most cases the US get the limited consoles,

less likely for limited things to be sold in the UK and rest of Europe

  • @bodruldujah

you guys have gotten some cool exclusives too (the Amega CD 32 for example:) but in all, I think we both lose out to the cool stuff they got in Japan. LOL

  • Holy jeez, that is a sexy beast. See, this is why I love Muzz. Always has something cool to share. Great video, editing, and narration Muzz.

  • Me and my friends loved the gamecube.. Had no idea it was that big of a flop. I miss old Nintendo.

  • Absolutely Beautiful

  • Fuck yeah Resident evil Remake

  • Well having only Japan-Exclusivity was the reason it slipped past this gamer, not to mention the price tag. I felt no need to get an import version of a system I already had, or another DVD player that, without being modded, would only play Japanese DVD's. All that said, had it been released as THE system and in America, it probably would have been the one I would still own today, and I think it does look really nice.

  • I really want one now but it costs a ton of money.

  • i sold mine :(

  • @TheUberdude14 what. is. wrong. with. you.

  • that is one slick machine.

  • I remember that I read about it in my old EGM, oooohhh those days of magazines, now it's all videos and blogs yuk, hehe.

  • 3 people hate learning cool things about Nintendo.

  • never even knew this existed, looks great

  • Looks sleek!

  • I don't think the Gamecube was an "unrealised" console like the Dreamcast or 3DO. It sold more than twice as many units as the Dreamcast did, and was well-known because of the Nintendo name slapped on it. It simply failed to steal the thunder from the PS2 and Xbox.

Anyway, I really liked this review, definitely do more of these!

  • looks like a toaster lmao

  • Looks bonerific. How did u get one omgg

  • I have one, came with over 20 Jap games as well, so glad i bought one.

Also, there was a GameBoy Advance player built for the Q as well (since a regular one from a gamecube woun't fit) and that is eve n rarer than the Q itself.

  • @DeanoTheLegend87

yeah, I mentioned it in this video:) I saw one go not too long ago for just over $300!

  • OMG I NEED ONE!!!!!

  • What a beautiful system, I had absolutely no idea that this even existed!

  • That's absolutely beautiful. Game systems today need more class and be built to last.

  • Comment removed

  • I recall that look being very popular with Panasonic in the 90s. We used to have a DVD player with that design of faceplate. Ah 90s design, second only to 70s design :)

  • i loved Luigi's mansion, Mario kart double dash and super smash bros melee.

  • This is a failed system.

    1. To expensive today and when it came out. Who would have bought it?

    2. Gamecube and a DVD player were much much more cheaper.

    3. The model only plays Gamecube games, a system which didn't have too many big hits.

The only plus I can think of is it looks great. But is that worth the expense today or yesterday. In my opinion no way!

  • @findernightrose Wow. The Gamecube had loads of "hits". Just because your too ignorant to find them doesn't mean they don't exist. The Gamecube is almost as underrated as the Dreamcast.

  • @TheHornyHomunculus compared to the ps2 it did not have loads of hits. It just had your typical nintendo game.

  • @iMixMaSteR1

Your typical Nintendo games are all hits.

if you want to do comparisons though, it's easy. the PS2 sold 150 million units and had about 2000 games released. 58 of those games have metascores of 90 or above. Thats 2.9%

The cube sold only 22 million units and had only 640 games released. 26 of them have metascores of 90 and above.

    Thats 4%

Statistically speaking, the cube had a better percentage of hits and in fact has many, many, Games worth playing.

  • @findernightrose

It's potential value as a rare collectible makes it's expense worth while as an investment for future resale. also, a lot of collectors like rare items in their collections.

as for hits. the cube had a ton of fantastic titles, Many of which received critical acclaim.

  • Wow! I never knew about this, thank you so much for this awesome video!

  • I love my gamecube.

  • The gamecube was bloody awesome. Pretty average piece of hardware yet the controller was kinda cool, so was it being cube shaped. And the game, holy moly, simple amazing times. I'm gonna get another one, it's a shame they don't have a PAL version of these (do they?)

  • Great review pal, very well put together. cheers !

  • Why was this not advertised more? I used to be a Gamecube junkie, and I would have killed somebody to buy this.

  • Yojimbo FTW

  • I've got a cube but damn...I honestly don't think I'd get much use out of the DVD playback but if I'm able to find one that plays American and Japanese games it would definitely be worth it for me...but damn, the expense...I can't save money when cool toys like these keep popping up p.q

  • Too bad the Cube is a joke amongst itself.

Seriously, Nintendo was stupid to make the Cube look like a lunch pail to begin with.

Plus the fact there are few good games on it that aren't on other systems also hurts it.

Plus the main Cube itself (not Q) not having DVD functionality is a mistake, same with the Wii and it's lack of DVD functionality.

  • man, dont show this to Lil' Muzz. he gon act a fool cause there aint no japanese madden games...

  • lol looks like a toaster, a futuristic one at that...

  • It's freaking beautiful. Now you are a true nintendo fan. Being a Dr Nintendo myself, I didn't even know the custom GB player existed. Good info.

  • Heh, Zatch Bell. =D

I really want to get one of these, but I'm weary of buying online when it comes to stuff like this. I have a huge fear of being ripped off. What would you say I should look out for?>

  • @Blehhh49

buying online is OK. if you buy on ebay, make sure you buy from a trusted seller and pay with paypal. if the item you get isnt satisfactory, you can ship it back. if the seller gives you a problem, file a complaint and you will get your money back. Amazon is the same way.

  • Awesome video and review! I got a question. Is it true, that if you accidentally move the console while having a Gameube disc in it, will it get stuck and cause the disk tray to jam? I heard that, if may do so and take some time to get the disk out.

  • @AndyVoong925

I don't know. I wouldn't be willing to try to find out. LOL

  • You didn't number this video?

  • @TheAsylumGamer oh...you know, I didn't! I'll fix that. LOL thanks!

  • I'm so jealous.

  • ANYONE who thought that the GAMECUBE was the downfall of nintendo is freaking WHACK

Nintendo Peaked with this console, i put the most hours into it of any console i have owned, the Wii missed me, i hate it, and im probably never going to buy another nintendo console again, but my GCN remains hooked up ready to play,

  • @Barcasaur

    Not wack, SMART.

What has the cube got for great games outside of the Nintendo franchises, mostly Resident Evil 0,REmake, and 4, MGS Twin Snakes,Eternal Darkness. That is about it that I can think of, so maybe 20-30 games in all tops. Nothing special when PS2 has easily double that number.

  • @snake2006

The PS2 also has double the amount of junk. the console that sells the most will always have the most games and the most shovelware. Hell, look at the Wii! LOL! But really, I could easily compile a list of 50 great games for the cube. And don't forget, Nintendo's franchise titles are what make them great. they make fantastic games:)

  • @L1Games

And I can double that with the PS2 quite easily.

I know about the console that sells the best has the most shovelware, but the PS2 still had tons and tons of quality games. Way more than Cube had by such a large margin.

Nintendo's control problem helped put them in that position and its even hurting them now.

  • @snake2006

Well yeah, it stands to reason that if there are twice as many games then you'll find a large number of good game. I'm not saying otherwise. Everyone knows there are great games for the PS2. The console sold 150 million units. (thats almost 8 times the number of cubes that sold) so of course you'll find 100 good games for it.

I'm just saying the Cube game library is often underrated. especially for a console that sold only 22 million units

  • @snake2006 Quality over quantity mate.

  • @snake2006 because so many consumers buy more then 30 games for a console!?

i have around 33 games on my cube and setting next to my 30 or so xbox 360 games, makes the 360 look like complete shit.

gaming was all about fun back on the cube

  • @Barcasaur

    I have 85 PS3 games alone.

    200 PS2

    60 Xbox

    500 NES

    100 GB

    40 GBA

    Get the picture?

The Cube sucked in my opinion. Worst controller ever, piss poor games outside of Nintendo exclusives. Stupid lunch pail look. It deserved to fail.

  • @snake2006

OK, I have over 3000 games and 150 consoles and I think the Cube was a fantastic system that was never used to it's fullest potential. Underrated and unrealized.

The Many, Many, stellar exclusives were reason enough to buy it, but I'd hardly call Killer 7, timesplitters, eternal darkness, the definitive RE collection, Eternal darkness, twin snakes, SC2, and the other great 3rd party titles "Piss Poor".

    But I'm crazy like that.

  • @L1Games

I am just stating my opinion on it, which is why I said my opinion. I don't mean anything bad on it. But to me, I regret buying a cube. All the good 3rd party games are on the other 2 consoles and done better. Killer 7 is on PS2, Timesplitters is on PS2 and started there, Eternal Darkness is 2nd party and so was Twin Snakes, RE was on PS2 as well minus RE Zero which wasn't great and REmake (I give that one to you), 4 is on everything now, the others were ports.

  • @snake2006

And I stated my opinion as well.

Correct, The PS2 didn't have RE0 (which was great) or the amazing remake of RE1. and lets face it. RE4 on the cube shredded the one on PS2 (the ps2 version was a mess) So, the cube has the definitive 6th gen RE story collection

Twin snakes was fantastic as was ED and I preferred Killer 7 and Timesplitters 2&3 on the cube over the PS2. The cube version of SC2 with Link was perfect too. (much better then either the PS2 or Xbox versions)

  • @L1Games I'm just saying you aren't giving the Cube the credit it deserves.

  • @L1Games

I know RE4 was a watered down for PS2, didn't bother me much, I played through it on PS2 and I played it on the Wii. Still don't care much for that game, very overrated game in my opinion, doesn't hold a candle to the older RE's. I enjoyed Killer 7 on PS2.

Twin Snakes was good not disputing that.

As for Soul Calibur, I didn't play any of them, I don't like fighting games.

I already gave Eternal Darkness as well, I liked that game and main reason I bought the Cube.

  • @L1Games

If you like the Cube, so be it. I am not telling anyone to hate it. I am just stating that to me in my opinion it is very overrated and I have huge regrets buying one. The rest of its library other than a few good exclusives were really poor in my opinion.

Also I have atleast as many games, I never mentioned all the systems I own and all the games I own. It takes too long. I have been gaming since the C64 days back in it's prime in the 80's (yeah I am that old).

  • @snake2006

How is the least selling console (of the main 3) something one could consider overrated? It was underrated if anything.

The exclusives were really the reason for buying the cube. there were a lot more than just a few. I think any console I can get dozens of great exclusives on (plus the fantastic 3rd party games) is a great console in my book. But again, I'm just crazy like that.

I've been gaming for 25+ years (I'm that old too.) got my first console in 1982.

  • @L1Games

As for it's poor game library.

According to metacritic 2.9% of the entire PS2 game library scored above a 90% (great games)

Meanwhile, 4% of the gamecube library scored 90% and above.

For what it had, the gamecube did pretty well in terms of quality over quantity.

  • @L1Games

Sure it's the least selling, but allot of people praise it more than I feel it should have. Like I said, if your happy with it, fine. I have no issues with that. I have Buyers remorse with the console, and just wasn't happy with the overall purchase. I sort of feel that way with the Wii as well.

My first console was the NES in 87. But I got a Commodore 64 when I was 4 that was in 85. Still love that computer more than any console ever.

  • @snake2006

Fewer people praise the cube than most other consoles...So in your opinion I guess no one should praise it at all. in the meantime, you'll tear a great console down over and over (as you have done here), just because for some unknown reason you cant find the value in a good console that has dozens upon dozens of fantastic games....yeah, that makes sense. LOL

  • @L1Games

Ok I am done with this argument.

Seriously, I wasn't impressed with the Cube.

But since you are, more power to you.

  • @snake2006

Actually, I'd say I was/am VERY impressed with the cube.

Sorry you weren't. More power to you too:)

  • @snake2006

    I have a brain.

    get the picture?

    i don't care about you're worthless opinion.

  • @Barcasaur

Not interested in the Wii U? I cant wait! LOL

  • i have fond memories of playing Luigi's mansion and animal crossing on my gamecube.

  • I loved my GameCube

  • Don't think the gamecube was a failure , actually it's the best nintendo console IMO.

no other console has Metroid prime Or Wind Waker.

  • @FELIPEPKPK

I agree, but you don't call it a succes because of the games, you call it a failure because of it's sales :) That's how you define a succes or a failure, it's all about sales for the producer of the product. Dreamcast might be the most succesful system (or PS2) if you look at it depending on games

  • @oliverandm

Well, I think there are different levels of success.

in terms of sales, the cube was last place. so we know it wasnt a success there. but luckily for Nintendo, it turned a profit from day 1. so it did OK in terms of Nintendo not taking a loss. it actually made them money. and that's always good. and even though the Xbox outsold the cube by 2 million consoles, Microsoft took a 5 billion dollar loss with it.

And the fans love the cube. so thats good too:)

  • i honestly think that the gamecube is one of the best nintendo consoles of all time, and is greatly underrated. this panasonic version is simply awesome, and would be cool to own. i would love one, let alone two! lol. great video bud!

  • I love my Gamecube. People think I'm crazy when I tell them that I still play it as much as my 360 and PS2, but hey, it had some damn good games. Plus, I've always liked the look and feel of the console. I'd love to get my hands on one of these Panasonic's..

  • lol kojinki no gash bell 2, exactly the same as "zatch bell" in america but with a few extra characters n tighter controls.

  • Super awesome that you have 2 now!!! Kick Ass!!!

  • I have to say the GameCube is one of my favorite systems of all time, as it has some really under rated games for sure, and some of most awesome games ever like RE4, Metal Gear Solid - Twin Snakes, etc... Also I would love to own a Panasonic-Q, but there out of my price range. :-(

  • If this was a PlayStation 2 compatible system, I'd want one ASAP. Also, Yojimbo is classic!

  • zatch bell! I used to watch that all the time!

  • Just imagine how the console war at that time might've been had Nintendo stuck with this model and launched it here in the states?

  • Gamecube was my favorite. It introduced me to Super Smash Bros. Melee! :DDD

  • You put in Resident Evil and I was like, Woah baby! :P I can't believe I never heard of this! Though I didn't own a game cube, the first Nintendo system I owned was the Wii which was a total disappointment in comparison to Nintendo's other consoles in my opinion. I own more game cube games now then I do Wii games haha. That Q version is fricken sweet though.

  • Freaking cool. I thought the Gamecube was a popular system? I love mine and all the games I have for it.

  • I loved the Gamecube! And the Dreamcast!

  • If this was released in America, it probably would own the crap out of the XBOX, and hell, even the PS2.

  • Gamecube was amazing :<

  • Never knew about this. Now I want one.

  • Shoot. Gamecube was one of my favorites. Wind Waker, Twilight Princess GC version, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart Double Dash...people were crazy not to like it, in my opinion.

And, Nintendo should have released more of these! They would have made so much money! I know I DEFINITELY would have bought one!

  • @YamiToYugi I own all of those amazing games! Paper Mario TTYD was an incredible game as well!

  • @AggroAmpharos I also own that game! I miss the Gamecube. I honestly think it had a few more better games than the Wii. Don't know why it didn't do well!

  • @YamiToYugi Agreed! I can't think of a problem I had with the system. In the 7 years I've had it, the only problem was that the reset button stuck. And that was like 4 months ago. Same with my DS. Had the thing since 2004, and only about a year ago did the L/R buttons start being touchy, and just last month one part of the hinge snapped, but everything Nintendo builds is built to last!

Last point: even my SNES still works wonderfully! :P

  • AND YOU GOT TWO?

  • @SimplicityInItself

yeah, it kinda just happened. LOL

  • @L1Games Are they both all region capable or do you have one of each?

  • @gr8fzy1 Never mind my question, the rest of the video finally loaded (I have a slow connection) and you answered it for me... :p

  • to me , it looks like a toaster

  • @GamerGuides215 I was thinking that too!

  • dang i loved the gamecube!!!

  • 4:50 yay zach bell! i haven't seen anyone who's heard of it, which is sad really.... :C

  • they would've made more money selling these.

  • The gamecube was and is hands down my favorite system. I LOVED the games it had (Double Dash, Kirbys Air Ride, Luigi's Mansion (my favorite game :P)). It has provided me with sooo much entertainment over the years its been out and I still take it out every now and then to get my old school gaming on :D The gamecube Q looks cool...I want...

  • gamecube and dreamcast were my 2 FAVORITE systems. and they're super underrated!

  • gamecube had very good games. Taloes of symphonia, mario sunshine, smash bros., wind waker

  • this woulda been worth it back then...

    not worth the price today...

  • Forget WiiU.. THIS is IT!!! YES!! Nintendo Cancel the WiiU.. Sell THIS to U.S.!!!

  • you know what you should do? try and get another one and for your next contest have this as a grand prize. i guarantee loads of people would be trying to win the contest...

  • So the modified version can play both U.S. Gamecube games AND Japanese Gamecube games, *AND* has a region free DVD player? All in one shiny box? That's totally worth the price, for convenience and style combined.

  • I wish I could afford one there so cool, japan gets everything :(

  • o.o ... I never....knew that existed...Must..Have!

  • 1st

  • @deqa srsly?
