  • Its better not to make tabs I think. sure, it's easier. But you'll have to learn to read it this way eventually.

And this is not slow enough for beginners :p I played piano for 10 years now and every time I learn a new song, I have to start slowly. Slower than this.

  • Ode To Joy ....... Heyyy !!! Tried with my dad s acoustic guitar ... Feeling proud ... More practice needed .......... I wish there was an automatic re play button :P

  • Finally completed lesson 2 and mastered let it be 100+ tries. Thanks

  • I've come back to this a few times over the last few months after giving up a couple of times. I think I've just about managed to memorise Ode to Joy, now I just need to practice to get it to sound good. Well done to the person who mastered Let it Be in 10 minutes, perhaps some people have more natural ability.

  • 80+ tries, tnx)))

  • After about 50 tries I successfully played od' to joy, thanks!!!!

  • 2:16 lol that was cheesy xD

  • jesus christ he's flying through that

  • Thank You Danfie!

  • @AnimeDarkFilms I was confused at first then just watch it over a few times and youll slowly get it!

  • I'm confuse

  • @animeDarkFilms what i do is, i copy the note to a piece of paper and try it on my own.. bcoz his playing to fast for me.. when u memorize it a little bit.. try to match the video.. I'm also trying to learn :-)

  • Thank You!! I am a very beginner. I have been watching so many " Guitar Lessons for beginner" video on Youtube. Your lessons are very easy for me to understand.

  • lesson #1 has 2.8million views...lesson #2 has 1.6million views...lesson #3 has 480k views...lesson #4 has 260k views

people give up too easily these days.

  • @TurnnItUpp I'm still sticking to repeating this lesson for probably a few days before I move on to the next ones

  • Ode to joy (beginning) 2:33

  • go to guitartabcreatorDOTcom, there you can create easy to use kinda improvised tabs - they are not exactly tabs, but it makes it very easy to then play this one-note parts.

  • @ProtectDavid: 10 minutes for let it be? sorry man, you are just joking. Some one that has never played a guitar before keeps looking if his finger is on the correct string every second, and in the mean time follow the notes on the video, don't write comments like that just to laugh at people, the joke is on you...

  • well, i can't place a link.... ggrrrr

  • Hi, in this text file i put an easy to use guide for ode to joy

  • ode to joy so hard omg im dumb

  • This is not for beginners at all. If you just bought a guitar and you wanna learn something before going on guitar lessons better watch UKguitargirl's videos, she knows how to teach beginners. :]

  • @98rosen you just gotta keep practicing i got it in like 3 days

  • soooo hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • TOO FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It just sounds so much better when he plays!

  • I dont understand how he is strumming when he is only playing one note! does he put himself playing chords over the song as opposed to just playing the one fingered notes?! Please help!!!

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i want to learn so bad..but its frustrating, should i jsut give up?

  • @ProtectDavid This is literally the first time I have played guitar and it took me 10 minutes to master the other song Let It Be on fast mode

  • If you're just starting out, it'll take you about an hour to learn ode to joy, good luck

  • @ProtectDavid Yeah, I have to keep pausing it. D:<

  • find tabs of it and then play along, helps a lot

  • slow my ass I had to stop just to catch up

  • free guitar lessons! vitalguitar(dot)com

  • Even though this was uploaded awhile ago, this series of videos helped me way more than others. Good job.

  • @Danfie who is the guy in this video and does he have a dvd out?

  • 4 Days since i started playing, well, not exactly playing lol, the guitar, and finally i can play this Ode to joy. But not from following the notes, it was confusing. What i did was create a tab for this, once i did this it improved very fast.

  • when i play chords my fingers touch the strings either side of the string that i want to hold down. Is it just practice or do i need to slice the tips of my fingers off lol.

  • Is it normal for only my first finger to be in pain?

  • guitar is painful..its been 30 minutes and i still cant play ode to joy, maybe i oughta stick to flute:/

  • @gleegirly4ever123 lol it's been 30 mins and I can only get the the first 5 notes, and i play the flute too! lol thinking of abandoning guitar. lol

  • The strings hurt my left hands fingers

How do I play without hurting myself

    Anyone??????

  • @Tisha5298 With the time, your fingers will get used to it and then it won't hurt. as a beginner, I too hurt myself a lot and sometimes it even bleeds. but I know from past experiences with various trainings that the body will adopt it.

  • @Tisha5298 I con't answer that Tisha, but I will say that pain is part of the process.. Play through the pain, watch your fingers bleed and let callouses form. Be proud of them. Your fingers will heal and be stronger for it. Pain is temporary, just set it aside. As you watch your fingers get stronger you're actually watching your body physically adapt to the instrument. Keep playing, second to second, for hours. Forget that you're playing an instrument or that you have hands. Be the music.

  • After Ode To Joy, I got so confused....

  • I can now play Ode To Joy! yeeeey ^_^

  • Errrrm I still can't read music hahaha guess its gonna take me a long time watching and playing by ear :S

  • The lesson is great so far. The only problem is that I've learned the musical notes not as "a, b, c etc" but as "do, re, mi etc"

  • It took me like an hour to do even the slow version :I

  • yeah you can totallyplay this if you start, thats just lame

  • the slow song is to fast

  • which part or the guitar do i keep my eyes fixed on?

  • i cant seem to play the chords correctly :(

  • I can now play ode to joy

  • @danfie : Could you send me the name of the series of this guy please ? Thanks already !

  • man i have a problem ..my fingers are hurting :(

  • @magerakos7 mine's too in the beginning , but you'll get used to it :)

  • when 2:20 starts, i was like O.O

  • i think the hardest parts are remembering the notes on the strings. but i guess i shall practice more :) was confused at first but i understand it now ;) thanks loads!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • Ive been wanting to learn and your lessons make it really easy, though i wish during the play a long part we could see your fingers better, i get confused :( but im gonna keep at it, thanks for these vids!!!

  • the 'slow' section is way too fast for someone just starting the guitar. It's not like we memorized the notes that well, but I suppose the good thing about this being a video is I can re-watch it >.> <.<

  • 5:15 you played a extra note, shame on you

  • Guys, my dad learned how to play the guitar himself when he was younger and he told me that its gonna take about 3 weeks to learn how to play 3 chords. But youll be able to play a song with 3 chords. It takes time you just have to be patient and not let the frustration get to you n_n

  • @11Namine Thanks :)

  • @11Namine you can play about 100 songs with 3 common chords

  • Thank you so much! :D

  • Im not exactly a smart person but have now finally found a way to learn with this guide. it clearly explains things in a way i would like them to be explained without all of the technical stuff, im having allot of fun learning about music and how to read music with these first few lessons, im going to keep practicing at these first few lessons for a while, thank you for doing these lessons im really interested in learning and couldnt afford a tutor so i greatly appreciate this! regards josh

  • Wow. It's so hard only to play the first song already. My fingers feal weird afterwards. Kinda numb.

  • so... what about the 5th and 6th strings? o-o better be in lesson 3

  • thanks so much for the tips man with a little practice i can actully do the impossible for me lol play the guitar

  • i guess this not for everybody...

  • This guy makes playing the guitar easy

  • and im sposed to read that?

  • Good video for people who already know how to read n write music. One time, at band camp, I played clarinet and now I'm able to play along to some of my fave music... Thanks!

  • wait, theres 2 g's and 2 a's, now im confused, someone enlighten me please

  • Bullocks to this i give up! E f g a b c! Im lost! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Thanks for trying to help tho! Lol!

  • i can only do ode to joy! DAM

  • @MrBadmintonnoob

Keep trying man :D I just started learning yesterday!

  • I know how to play the first song now but I still don't understand how the notes are different, the time signature and the "beats"

  • Thanks! Very helpful. Now I just need to wok at it.

  • Sadistic,

  • If you are having problems with it going too fast or not being able to recognize the notes fast enough to keep up you could try what i did... draw out the staff and the notes and label them. Then, you can practice without him until you got it down and then try to do it ith him again.. it helped me because he was going kinda fast to me as well. Hope this helps you!

  • @iwuvsftball

I did this and it helped!

  • tnx but il neva get it

  • in the fret board where should we press ? on the strings or what i'm really confused plz help

  • I fucking nailed Ode to Joy!

And in 50 days or so, I'll have nailed the first part of Let it Be as well!..........

  • you need to have way more instruction between showing the notes & playing the song... I thought I had skipped to another lesson when you 1st started playing ode to joy. This video has not helped me at all:(

  • Your going way to fast

  • u r my first teacher.... i learnt a lot thanks...

i can play both songs. but dont know how to play the doted half notes... plz explain this part. plzz

  • Danfie, thank you so much. THis is what i needed to get started. please make more videos. You are an excellent teacher. God Bless you

  • do electric guitar have the same EBGDAE string like acoustic guitar do? when i play D with my electric guitar it kinda sounds differently.

  • @hinhinw did you try using a tuner? hmm

  • more than two million people on the first lesson, halved in the second lesson, such quick drop outs

  • @NIGHT2PWN they do that on everything on youtube, games, movies, lessons. all that

  • @NIGHT2PWN Agreed. I am anything but stupid- but this is the first time I have picked up a guitar and he assumes we have at least SOME knowledge of where the notes are. You are dealing with idiots here you can't start us off like this!!

  • @NIGHT2PWN His lessons are good. The drop outs just confirm the large number of would be guitarists who just aint got the stamina, staying power, dedication and will to actually buckle down and learn. Sometimes learning involves sacrificing fun for a while until a skill or knowledge has been taken in fully. With passion and true love for guitar these lessons are just fine. If no effort at all is required from the student then yes drop out at the 2nd step or buy a kazzoo.

  • @arfurlife well said

  • I have the same question. How is the sound still playing when he plays the full note or the half note, during the beats in which he does not pick the strings?

  • does someone know how he plays the picks when there are those full notes at "let it be"??

  • @gentleplaya100 i was wondering the same thing :( he does show how hes plucking the strings :( it sounds so much more like a song and not some damn amateur playing when you pluck the strings the way he does :)

  • me too. he jumped the levels too fast

  • @equium30 I don't think so. I was able to pick up Ode to Joy without too much difficulty. It's just a matter of being patient with yourself and rewatching anything you've forgotten, there is no crucial information in this video that's been left out. In the end it's up to you to learn it, not him to spoonfeed it.

  • i didn't understand anything ! -.-

i love guitar but i don't even know how to hold it !!

ugh it's hard :/ can anyone help me ?

  • @MrTHEGOLDENSTAR1 This is lesson number two. Try going back to lesson number one, he goes through stuff like how to hold it there.

  • I only know how to finger A minor.

  • @EllTeeVee lol

  • people search the partiture on google !

  • ur explaining it good but i cant see ur fingers what doing -.-

  • if you can't handle the scrolling music, ,just print off some blank music paper and write it all out for you to learn at your own speed

  • 1:08

  • i love this guy!!!

  • You talk too fast? -______-

  • i cant read it scrolling like that very well, im better off memorising most of it and looking for the small variations in the music

  • now I know how to play ode to joy thanks struggling with let it be though :/

  • How do u kno wat to hit for ode to joy cuz it's too much to take in with all the e and G strings so how do u read the music

  • @THEULTIMATEHEDBANGER What I did to make it easier is I paused it when he said where E, F, & G where then drew the lines & letter placements. Then I did the same with B, C, & D. Then when he got to the songs I paused it during the first half to practice looking at my drawings to compair to the notes & did the same with the second half. But I had to variate based on what sounded more natural on my guitar.

  • ii can't do the beatles i did ode to joy with out a single mistake....but let it be i just cant...if you can't to play with the chords which goes: C G Am F C G and a littel riff that goes you pu your index finger one string 5 frat an midell on 6 frat b hit it 1 and a littel pause and than hit it agai and than slide it to the so that you leave tour ring finger on 5 frat on b and your index finger on 3 e string and than you slide those 2 a half step down...and chores goes with chords: Am Em C C G.

  • wait whatt?? i don't have a guitar x.x how am i going to learn how to play ): i can only memorise the things he said x.x

  • @WTINQ well i would think you should have one before you can learn how to play

  • yeah that is what i did. such a helpful video. thanks for sharing and please continue with more lesson!!!!

  • 2:30 - Ode to Joy

4:50 - Let it be (Slow tempo)

5:52 - Let it be (Fast tempo)

I think we'll all need it.

  • @renegade1234 Thank you. Thank you a million times over.

  • 2:33

  • than you i learn a lot.

  • Ooo, I love this videos so much! I used to think there was no hope for me learning guitar - but that was before I found your videos! Thanks, and keep up the great job!

  • Thank you so much! I'm already learning another instrument so I couldn't pay for another instructor. This is exactly what I needed!

  • Hey, i learned soo much in this video :)

The first song looks easy to do i try to do that first and then i go further

    anny tips contact :)

  • thank you very much you were a great help for my first steps in music

p.s. I ENJOYED THE MOST THS SONGS THAT YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO PLAY

  • wow, you are such a good teacher!! I get my new guitar in about 3 weeks, and i can already finger along to the song!!! Now I have a head start, thank you so much.

  • i went to tune it by myself as a newbie. finally it does sound better and now ode to joy sounded right for me :D see my previous comments.. i was pissed and stucked

  • bro fuck rewinding the music video, go to blanksheetmusic. net and print out some sheet music write these notes on it, that way you will be able to work at it on your own pace untill your ready to do this.

  • Does anyone else have a tendency to place their right pinky and ring finger on the pick guard to try and keep the pick on the string it's supposed to be at?

  • u hav me lost

  • It is very helpful.. thank u very much.

  • way better than my shit teacher.

  • Do you hold the strings that you are supposed to play? Because when I do It doesn't sound like it's supposed to compared to when I don't hold it

  • im learning to read music as i learn to play, nice!

  • You lost me at ode to joy....
