What type of connectors are you using to plug into the pins on the relay? I'm going to do this bypass and I need to know what the connectors are called when I go to the store.
i have a 2 prong switch it doesnt say on it which prong is neg or positive does it matter which prong i run the negative to and brake wire to? also would it be ok to run the ground to the battery i cant find a screw? also alternatively would it be ok to run the ground to the screw/bolt/post thats in the middle back of the radio the one that has the cars ribbon/wire ground going to it?
worked on jvc kd-avx77, for anyone like me that has not done this before, you have to splice into the ground wire(black) because it has to be attached between the car's harness and the decks harness.
you dont need anything but a switch to ground on the green wire, flick it once and it thinks the parking brake is on. im a certified pioneer installer
Hey DUDE !!!!thanks so much for putting this up...it was so easy to do and solved my issues.......learned something today....by the way my radio is a avh-p3200bt
Awesome video, and thanks for the help. You should check out seller radonich1 on eBay or my videos for parking brake bypasses that work with all newer Pioneer, JVC, Sony, Clarion, and Eclipse radios.
@Homaho97 it has to work always... it cant just work sometimes.... You are prolly turning the car on to fast or something like that. Put it to accessories, let it all start, then it will click the relay just after the headunit is on.
unless your relay is faulty....
A switch can be put in somewhere between the remote connection.
I just put a avh 3300bt into my car and couldn`t get a picture...i cut the green handbrake wire and grounded it to the unit and bingo job done,,,slipped it along the top of the unit and screwed it to one of the 8 screws that hold the unit in the dash...
i have the pioneer 3200. i watched your videoand see that you are using a 5 pin relay. is it possible for me to use a 4 in relay instead. considering that you only need 4 pins on the 5 pin relay. if so how would i go about wiring in the 4 pin relay. its a 4 pin 12v 30 amp relay. Will this work?
Hay bud, I bought a clarion vz401 and im seeing videos of people wireing up a switch to it because i guess you have to sometimes flip the switch acouple times to get the video to display. Also one guy said something about puting a relay in line with the switch. So my questions are, one, do i still need to have a switch if i run a relay? two if so how do you reccomend wiring the switch with the relay? please let me know thanks
@wdissident simple, Just join the wire coming out of your relay power slot (85) to the wire you have now powering your amp. It will just draw its current from that. It wont effect anything else you have installed.
Just tap into it and solder it up. Very easy.
That blue wire (remote wire) simply provides a 12V source after the headdeck has power. It can be used for anything for example, To turn on your power antenna after the car has ign or for an amp (as in your case)

@Homaho97 wire the switch in between the remote wire (blue) if you wish to have control over the relay.

chogg123 1 year ago
@chogg123 can this be done with a four pin relay instead of 5 pin ?
arrymanbboy 1 year ago
@arrymanbboy Yep. just make sure you connect it to the same pin numbers....
I only had a 5 pin laying around so it should work fine mate.
let me know how you go.
