DX10 improves the lightning in Crysis extremly. And as you see at the hunter DX10 also features soft particles. The fog from the fire blows away when the hunter starts screaming - only in DX10.

A 5670 won't handle it at high resolutions either. If you want to play past 1600x900 with med-high to very high settings you need a Radeon HD 5770 or GeForce GTX 460 1GB minimum. I wouldn't recommend turning the settings up and playing at 1920x1080 with anything less than a Radeon HD 5850/6870 or GTX 470.

@sixthcrusifix I don't know about 5670 but i got 2Gb ram win 7 32 bit athlon 2 x2 250 3.0ghz and a gts 450 and play crysis with perfect fps at very high settings with dx10 and 1440x900res and becouse of dx11 the dirt have tesseletion.Cool.And physx like batman and mafia 2

The GTS 450 is quite a bit better than the Radeon HD 5670. Also there's no way you're getting 60+ FPS minimum at high settings; and 1440x900 is not high resolution. My monitor is 1600x900 and even it's considered mid-low resolution.

When people say high res they mean 1920x1080 or 1900x1200 (Or higher).

lol it looks like microsoft got all you people into thinking directx10 was better. All they did was add less lighting to the code and they added more lighting to the code in directx10 just to make it look better than directx9. But the sad truth is , they're exactly the same. I have coded in both and there's no difference. I would say directx 9 is better in a sense that it can run on Xp computers as well as vista and windows 7 , directx 10 can only run on vista and windows 7.

In the initial demo of Crysis, you could use a command to force the "directX 10" effects in DX9. Crysis does not actually have any effects that require DirectX 10. It is, in fact, a DirectX 9 game with some features that are disabled outside of Vista and DX10.

Most "DX10 games" could be run, fully featured, in DirectX 9, looking identical. There is no magical upgrade of DirectX 10. It's just a cleaner written DX9 that does away with some older code.

DX10 improves lighting, shadowing, sound, effects (particles), and performance, as it is a LOT more optimized than DX9. DX11 is a complete overhaul though, improves EVERYTHING and adds loads of features, the most prominent of all is tesselation (no pun intended xD), and of course it is even more optimized than DX10, although you need a DX11 card to enjoy ALL of its features (cards that support 10 and 10.1 don't count :P)

DX10 and 11 DO WORK under Windows XP, and if we were stubborn enough and Microsoft started losing money with the sales of Vista and Seven, they would have no choice but to release DX11 for XP.

@ThePikoowx No, you just think that, because of the angle of the shot. There is no difference whatsoever. The dude plays these scenes with a noticable degree of bias. In the DX9 jungle fight he only shoots a little. In the DX10 scene, he shoots, and blows up stuff to further elevate it's appeal.  In the DX9 hunter scene, briefly plays a shot and then stops it. In the DX10 scene, he plays an extensive video, and from a differenct angle. The uploader of this clip is clearly full of it.

CryEngine 2 is more advanced and much better visuals than CryEngine 3 for Consoles, as for as CryEngine 3 on PC its yet to be decided, all they have shown is shitty Console versions that look like shit with low draw distances and of course no AA and low res textures.

people are missing the motion blur here. This is where DX10 excels. The way in which its done, objects, foreground, hands, gun etc is all very very pretty in dx10. Contributes to the graphical drama, and makes u feel more immersed.

Does anyone here realize that the so called Direct X 10 effects on Crysis are not specifically attributed to Direct X 10. They have just disabled very high shader and lighting qualities on machines running Direct X 9. You can modify a .cfg file to include the effects if you are limited to DX9. Crysis is not, in essence, a DX10 game.

No Modern Warfare 2 does not. It is a DX9 game really. While it looks great its more do to it not being nearly as open ended.

The effects are contained to certain areas and are really more a trick that pertain to that certain area, not a law the governs the graphics on a broader scope. Which is why it is a very linear game.

Crysis DX10 does not take many short cuts,You may notice great game lighting in one part but it is consistent and doing the same work on lighting threw out the game.

DX10 has nothing to do with physics so nothing to do with trees falling. the difference was that he used a grenade in the DX10 sample. Differences to look for are shadows with fewer pixels and the light beams coming through the trees. most of what DX10 handles more efficiently is lighting.

That's not quite it. DX9 can render almost everything that DX10 can render. The difference is that in order to do so with DX9, you would need a ridiculous GPU. What DX10 does is streamlines the processes so that they are far more efficient, allowing current and near future cards to render faster than with DX9 on the same card. This allows developers to push things a little more. DX10 only dropped my fps from 38 fps to 36 fps in crysis.
