You want to know how other Europeans feel, well let me give you an idea ...... the Lisbon treaty is virtually identical to the old constitution. Both the French and the Dutch voted this down ....... Germans are reportedly 75% against further EU integration ...... the UK voted overwhelmingly for EU-sceptic parties in the EU elections. Remember, you're not voting for or against Europe, you're voting for or against an institution called the EU having absolute power over all our lives.
The EU keep saying 862,415 Irish voters have no right to block the desired goal of some 450 million Europeans.
Those few million Irish were actually the only citizens in Europe who were asked for their opinion. The rest of the 446 or so millions were never consulted. How can any politician claim that their voters want the ratification of EU constitution/Lisbon Treaty when the entire political class emphatically insisted on not asking the people?
I EXEMPT all Irish people from responsibility for any outcome of this. It just proves the system is broken if a little country like ours is asked to take responsibility for this - just because Ireland is still free!! Saoirse na hÉireann! Let them do their own dirty work, I don't want the "Let's just blame the Irish for everything.." DON'T VOTE. Low turnout = lack of confidence in the system
