My Mother used to bring home the most delicious fish when I was a child in Omaha, 1960's. I now live in Cleveland, Oh and carp is considered a 'dirty fish'. It was just 15 years ago that I found out it was fried carp from Joe Tess's that my Mother was bringing home.
I've thought of taking a 'flight trip' to Omaha just to eat at Joe Tess's
@AcidSpittingAngel Have you ever read REAL research about MSG... Anyone who says it is "nasty stuff" is either full of it or ill informed. There is alot of fake science on the subject.
@Spbeyond yeah. Lots of people just waste their time and money making fake research about MSG. Because its just THAT big of a social problem. Kind of like all that BS about Methane gas from cows, radiation, and how bad cigarettes are for you. Psh. You must just be ill-informed. And I routinely lie about culinary products. IT's just in my nature.

Great memories.. Back in the late 60's we Bellevue high school guys often hit the place late friday/saturday night shortly before closing.. ordered a couple of tails and they filled the boxs with already cooked fish.. Now, how many remember the Joe Tess in Lincoln??
I grew up on Joe Tess's....every weekend my dad would take all of us to Joe Tess's, I still remember their dill pickles!!!! but the fish, man it doesnt get any better than that...I still remember when they built their drive thru.......that was a big deal in those days....I'm just happy to know, that one of my best memories growing up in Omaha is still thriving.........
This place is so famous; it eclipses all of the other "fish" places. It's the only place I would trust to have the best fish available at anytime, and I live near the Gulf Coast.
Worked at Joe Tess when I was in high school. Bill, Dan and Dave were my boss'...but it was John R. that kept me out of trouble. Friday nights after closing, cleaning the 'hoods' with sheila shine. Not many hs kids wanted to do that type of work. The Falts and John were/are great people and Joe Tess has some very orignal eats! Receommend this place to everyone! I get home on leave every now and then and always stop in. Hard to catch up with th eold boss' though. Stop in when you can!
You think exotic fish like mahi mahi are good, or snapper? Nobody has anything on this place. Besides carp they have great catfish. Fantastic. You don't even need any sauce on it.

The real question is how did that one black guy end up in a sea of white folks? That guy looks lost.

I don't know what the point of using salt flavouring over regular salt is.

Personally my favorite dish in here is the fried walleye dinner. And, Joe T has the best coleslaw in town.
