  • @panzercow: You totally misunderstand Professor Diamond's intentions. She wants to lecture with a chalkboard and chalk. She lectures at the same speed that you can write and absorb the material. She doesn't want to use flashy powerpoint presentations that whiz by the student and do not sink in. She doesn't need high tech. She has brains--and personality! She is not only teaching you lymphatics. She is teaching you how to LEARN.

  • @hollytom1 Couldn't agree more!

  • I learned more from this old bird in 20 minutes than in a day with our instructors. -In my native language. Much love. <3

  • thanks for posting... awesome resource

  • Ive learned more from Professor Diamond than any other instructor in Bio that Ive EVER had. Thank you for posting!

  • She is awesome.. Great. perfect. I wish she was my professor.. Love her...

  • wow!!!!!!! your the best teacher:)i don't just like this video but i love this video

  • Thank you so much for the lecture Mrs. Diamond. If you are still teaching I hope that the university has provided you with higher tech rather than the old chalk and board. A teacher like yourself deserves better technology to deliver your lectures.

  • Thank you Professor Diamond and Berkeley!

  • i like the class but a picture is worth 1000 words. usually I have to look up other videos on youtube just to explain what shes writeing about and they do it great in only 3 or 4 minutes

  • Amazing women, I wish i would have had your teachings in the class I was in 22 years ago, I loved listening to you on this amazing subject.

  • 5:26 .. " fuck this im going home ! "

  • She is really amazing. Helped me out alot!!!

  • I love HER, I learn way more from her than in class!!

    She's sooooo cute!!

  • This was very helpful:) I also learned more in 50 minutes than in my class all semester. Thanks!

  • You were great:) Very informative .... Better than ANY of my instructors lectures:) Thanx!

  • Man those HUGE erasers bring back some memories. When I saw that I busted out laughing!

  • Hot Hairdo !:D

  • this is what I've been looking for an old style teaching, Thank u so much , I learned a lot than in my class ...You are a Great Teacher , wish im in ur class.

  • This video was extremely helpful. My college I attend just uses power points, and whizzes through the lecture material, and doesn't explain it that well. Although this is the old style of teaching, it forces you to pay extra attention and listen closer. This was very informative, and if you have the patience to sit through it, she is a very good teacher. Thank you :)

  • That comment about inhaling two grams of chalk a day was fucking classic and had me in stitches...at least all that chalk dust is giving her lymphatic system a good work out...she's brilliant...

  • She is an awesome teacher. This is so informative I can't believe it. Wow. Thank you Professor Diamond

  • too slow! and old!

  • Great: thankyou.

  • Dr. Diamond is wonderful!

thank you for sharing this lymphatic system explanation.

i'm researching lymph edema future treatments

  • what year course it this? first or second?

  • @309502854 this is very basic, I think it would be first year.

  • Amazing. Wish I had her. Lucky bastards

  • you put my school in shame.my teacher doesnt metion any of this!!! thank you very very much..lucky students get you.

  • Great video! Thank you very much.

  • Was this a medical school lecture?

  • she is one of the best teachers in the world hands down

  • thnx a lot

  • These videos and the related comments are proof that power point is not quality educational instruction.

  • Thia teacher seems so cool , lucky students that get to learn from her.

  • God bless her and her patience....but does she write EVERYTHING OUT?!

And, isn't it DIASTOLIC not DISTOLIC?

  • i could listen to her lectures all day, and i wouldn't get bored. I love Anatomy!

  • Very nice presentation. I feel sorry for her in that she is doing it old school. All that chalk and handwriting is really distracting from her talking. It would be so much better with PowerPoint.

  • You need to learn proper grammar and spelling. Please whatever you do, please get some tutoring on how to write in English.

  • She is great! I understand it sooooo much more!!

  • I think she is sexy.....I love to take her for coffee.

  • lol have you seen anyone with their livers torn out bleeding?

  • wow .... i love it

  • damn just type it up if you gonna write everything u say lol damn where's the powerpoint we are at berkerly right? lol

  • lolz...were learning this now in our science class..and im in the 8th grade

  • @addicted2sports13 yahh sure you are.....the only thing you prob have to know about the lymphatic system is it fights disease... congratulations smart guy!

  • @guzzbar congrats to this smart guy who's actually a girl! And I am in the 8th grade not some poser, I just put "I am in the 8th grade part" to show that I'm not obtuse aka. a dumbass and we are still learning this at my school and because of this woman's lesson....a thousand times better than my teachers...I'm advanced in my class.

  • @addicted2sports13

    lol woahhh!!!

ahaha well honeslty i congradulate you on being keen on learning :) sorry i was being a little obtuse that day ;), i was just jealous honeslty becuz uni is so much work..i kinda miss when i was in grade 8...

but for real..if this stuff interests you learn as much as you can before uni!!! it will only help you :)

if i could repear my elemenetary school summers, i would replace half that video game into reading :p...ow well i was a kid, i didnt no any better!

  • aw! she's so cute!

  • is this a pre-med lecture?

  • She is such a good teacher. I really like my own teacher, but thanks to these lectures I am getting 100+ on all my tests so far!!!

  • SO ...we have to appreciate to her lovely lesson !!! She's great , marvellous .

  • This lady must inhale about two grams of chalk a day.

hhaa... dats d truth... but still she was perfect... :)

  • @2100km she love it probably :) hmm tasty

  • @2100km Try two Kilograms of chalk

  • Excellent teacher. She explained everything a lot better than my nursing teacher.

  • I wish I had her for my professor!!! Mine has a thick indian accent and I can't understand him :-(

  • Lymphatic at 13:00

  • @bourbonstmc thanks for posting that!

  • Thank you so much Professor Marian God Bless you

  • this teacher is wonderfull!!!

  • wow!!! great!!!!i have exam.on tuesday...this helps a lot!!! thanks a lot :)

  • she seems like such a great teacher!

  • I love her classes-Im older and perhaps if I had instructors like her I might have gone on a better path.

  • Dr. Diamond is absolutely incredible. She makes A & P so approachable. Also, the lecture style helps me to retain the material. Thank you UC Berkeley for putting this here.

  • Lymphatic System lecture starts at 12:45

  • i can t concentrate, this is to slow

  • Umm, can someone explain to me what that structure is sticking out of her aorta diagram in the beginning? It rises up as the ascending, and then branches off to the right to become the aortic arch. But I dont understand what the structure is that goes up to the left. Anyone?

  • left subclavian

  • What...how? Theres supposed to be the thee branches generating from the aortic arch. The brachiocephalic being the first one, followed by the left common corotid and the left subclavian as the last branch before the descending.

  • my bad, i guess it represents the brachiocephalic trunk. what else would it be? it doesn't matter anyway because she's talking about aneurysms not anatomy

  • Madam, with all respect due, I think it is "Diastolic" pressure and not "distolic" ( 8.30 to 8.46). I don't know whether it is an American variation but what we read n know is 'diastolic'

    Thank you..

  • She is speaking of systole and distole and this is how we learned them in our class as well. You are right in that it seems to be dubbed diastole now, but even my books say distole so she isn't wrong per se. I'm not sure where/when the change took place and why but like I said, it was taught distolic as well...

  • Where am I? In my bed (in Sweden) What am I doing? Watching lectures from Berkeley. That's just fab.

  • I'm watching them from Australia :)

  • Thank you Professor Diamond for your crystal-clear explanation. This video helped me understand what I'm learning in A&P2.

  • its amazing how we have become used to rapid power point presentations. I'd forgotten what lectures were like with chalk and boards. It was wonderful to watch. Thanks, nicely done.

  • I agree! Her lectures are in slow motion compared to the lectures at my university - but I love it! Going to lectures at my uni is pretty pointless, I don't learn anything because it's too fast.

  • I learned more in this 50 minutes than in my class all semester. Thank you!!

  • @piersonjared do you think you paid more attention during these 50min at home than in the classroom all semester?

  • wow I love you!

  • What does NAVEL mean?

  • i think it's so cool... I can replay it until i get it

  • what course are these lectures from

  • this is so interesting...thank you so much for posting

  • Good lecture, "old school" style, using blackboard rather than Powerpoint, mostly. Prof. Diamond says that lung CA mets get to the brain by the lymphangiitic route. I think that the current opinion is that the route is hematogenous. Another nit: she refers to "distolic" BP. That may be an acceptable variant of "diastolic" BP, but I've never encountered that term before.

  • I have heard it pronounced distolic.

    The opposite of systolic.

Distolic is not in the dictionary and I believe it is just pronounced that way instead of diastolic.

I would rather see white boards instead of chalk boards. Easier to see, colors show up better, erases better, etc.

  • Re: "distolic" v. "diastolic." The word comes from Greek, with the "dia" being the adverb "apart" attached to the verb, "stellein," meanining "to expand," thus the relaxation of the ventricular chambers of the heart. "di-"in words of Greek origin usually refers to "two" or "twice," from the Greek word, "duo," which is the cardinal number, "two." Thus, "distolic" would mean "twice expanded," and, as you said, is a meaningless word. In other words, a mistake.
