  • Such a good video ! i love the spot !! hardly any wind, beautiful day and sky, no sound, just so peacefull ! where can i find more like this !?

  • @extreemjase Glad you enjoyed the video and it really was a very peaceful day - you're right....it doesn't get any better than that! (this was filmed in Wellandport Ontario - the Welland river runs right through the town)

  • thanks for doing a bank fishing video i wish more proffetionals would to thanks good video better fish haha

  • @fishinky365 Glad you enjoyed the video! Good fishing to you!

  • i fish out of the ottawa river and no one i know eats catfish, we just throw them back .find it odd that ppl eat this fish

  • @duhdars1 Actually, catfish are pretty good. They are very edible. We have eaten catfish from the Ottawa river and found them very tasty especially in the spring. Thanks & good fishing to you!

  • that thing was big

  • @bz1kopi Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for writing in!

  • is vincenzo's pike shirt like nike but for fishing?

  • @momo2317 ....I guess you could say so....I know one thing, he loves that shirt :)

  • Which would be better for fishing for catfish - 10, 15, or 20 Ib line

  • @Audioarsenal 15 lb. test will handle even the larger cats. It's a good all-round line weight. Thanks!

  • i personally believe the best bait for catfish is chicken liver, works everytime

  • @HeadlessHorseman1234 It really is a good bait! Thanks for sharing & good fishing!

  • I believe this is Saltwater cat fish, what is the scientific name does any one know and where in England is best to fish for these?

    Thanx

  • @gladmama These are freshwater catfish (ictalurus punctatus) which may also enter brackish water of low saline levels. We are not familiar as to where to catch them in England. Good fishing!

  • I be fishin in Louisiana.

  • @Flashdude37 Great to hear from you in Louisiana and thanks for tuning in!

  • @thundermistlures what bait you use?

  • @MyApoLoGize90 We love to use cut bait and if your regulations allow, use cut sunfish as it works fantastic. Smelts also work great as does cut sucker. The key is to use fresh, cut bait.

Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water!

  • @thundermistlures tks so much :D

  • How do you set the hook? Is it like your bullhead video, watching for a slow tug then setting it?

  • @nigahigabeta2 We like to wait a few seconds before setting the hook as the catfish will pick up the bait and swim with it. Waiting those few extra seconds will allow the catfish to take the bait into the mouth rather than holding it by its lips. Thanks!

  • shouldve cooked it...

  • @rockandroller512 We do enjoy eating fish but we also practice catch & release. Thanks!

  • if we put cut bait on a spinner will it work?

  • @CoXTax Chances are that it won't work to catch catfish just by casting & retrieving. Your chances are better if you slow troll it on a 3-way set-up close to the bottom. Thanks!

  • I just Posted a video response on castnetting shad, in my opinion the best Catfish bait.

  • @eoj11 Thanks for writing in and sharing your tips with us!

  • never catfished b4 dieing to do it tho

  • @bybuttscppickel Thanks for writing in and glad to hear you want to get out there and try cat fishing - it really is a lot of fun!

  • @bybuttscppickel catfishing is my favorite wont get a better fight out of a fish

  • That look tasty

  • @papichulo6667 Yes, they're tasty for sure! Good fishing!

  • is fall season a good time to fish for cats?

  • @talontsichris In our area, fall is not a very good time for catfish. We normally wait untill the early spring to fish for them. Thanks!

  • @thundermistlures ok thanks. i got another question. Are circle hooks beter for catfish? I have been using the Team Catfish circle hooks.

  • @talontsichris Circle hooks are great since they usually hook the fish in the corner of the mouth and with less swallows. Thanks!

  • wats the best season/time to go catfishing. is it colder months?

  • @MrPorkGuy The spring is one of the best times to go fishing for cat fish. They become very active after the winter months, and begin to feed, big time!

Thanks for tuning in & until next time good luck and good fishing!

  • @thundermistlures Thanks! You really helped me alot!

  • i went fishing down by the aquaduct in the welland river and baited up with some cut sunfish my dad hooked monster channel cat that had to be at least 25lbs but then evey fishermans worstnightmare the line snapped

  • @SuperPensfan8771 Thanks for writing in and sharing this great story with us.....at least your dad will have a nice memory of the "one that got away" :)

  • @thundermistlures yah my dad is writing a letter to spiderwire cause that was like the hundredth time that 15lb test super braid broke

  • @SuperPensfan8771 Thats why i use 65lb braided line(:

  • @MrPokemonfan231 Cut sucker is a great bait to use and if your regulations allow, use cut sunfish as it is also a fantastic bait! They key is to ensure you use fresh cut bait - it is much better than frozen and will get you more bites.

  • i went fishing on the welland river last sunday i used cut bait and 15mins later i got a huge hit but i didnt hook the fish. i cast back out 2 mins later the fish was back but this time i hooked it. it took a couple good runs but we landed the 4lb monster. then 15mins later another fish this time 6lbs. then after maybe 40mins we caught a 12lb drum then i caught a 3lb pike all on cut bait

  • @SuperPensfan8771 Sounds like you had an outstanding day on the water and we would like to thank you for sharing this with us!

  • Best bait for me ever here in Iowa is a whole bluegill. Cut the blue gills tail off, next using a steel leader (12") you hook your leader to a riggin needle (ensure you close it once attached to the needle) run the needle straight through the bluegills mouth through its body and out it's now cut off tail...simply remove your needle, hook your leader to a size 1 or 2 treble hook and wa-lah, best catfish rig ever!!! Cut bait works well too, always remember the bigger the bait, the bigger the fish

  • @TheDs365247 Thanks for writing in and sharing you tips with us!

  • @MrPokemonfan231 Yes it can attract catfish but it must be something that they will like otherwise they will totally ignor it.

  • cool video. check out my catfish videos sometime

  • @catfishpatrol Glad you enjoyed the video and we'll tune in to yours sometime as well. Until next time, good luck and good fishing!

  • can you make a video on how to bait chcicken liver the right way thanks

  • @mynig4life We can't promise this one but you never know. Good fisning!

  • i use raw shrimp its better try it

  • @beeman434 Raw shrimp works great! Good fishing!

  • Nice video. That's some beautiful country you guys get to fish in. I like how all the places you go are not littered with garbage and not tons of people and boats to contend with is which is what we have here.

  • @AngelaA81410 We're fortunate in that aspect. Thanks & good fishing to you!

  • @MrPokemonfan231 Thanks for taking time to write to us and I hope you have a great day on the water on Saturday!

  • have u ever fished the detroit river ? if u did tell me how to fish it thanks. and what type of rods and reels are u using

  • @stellerme1 Have not fished the Detroit river yet - but want to get out there to fish for some of those nice early season walleye!

  • i used a slip sinker and a 8/0 hook with a gulp alive nightcrawler and a catfish broke my rod hit it again snapped my line and then the next time it broke my line and then it ran about 200 feet before snapping my line

but the day before that i caught a 2lb mudcat

  • @AmazingZombieWeapons Sounds like you had lots of action! Thanks for sharing!

  • @MrPokemonfan231 Stick with baits like fresh clam, raw shrimp, fresh fish cut-bait, chicken liver. These are proven baits that work. Good luck!

  • BTW that T-Turn is absolute magic for night fishing... none of the tangles, even better than the pickerel rigs I usually use, glad I found this channel!

  • @MegaTwitch23 Glad you like them......they do work pretty good. Good fishing!

  • I didn't catch the quantity my fishing buddies did with their worms, but I caught nothing small, and only 1 non-catfish species. Our total haul for the evening was a dozen or so cats, a bowfin, several Drum, 2 rather large smallmouths, couple small silver Bass... 6 different species in total... a nice night out.

  • @MegaTwitch23 Sounds like you had a great time! Thanks!

  • So night before last I caught a White sucker in Port Dalhousie, so I figured to cut him up for bait and try him at the Aquaduct here in Welland... What a night I had... best night of fishing I can recall. I caught a handfull of Channel Cats in the 2-10 lb range, my second last catch was a 5 pound Bowfin... and the coupe de grace, I caught a 5 pound channel cat that had snapped my leader off earlier in the evening, leader and round hook intact :)

  • @MegaTwitch23 Good idea to try the sucker & it looks like it worked great for you! Thanks!

  • y did u put tha fish back stupied fck

  • @4500gordo We believe in catch & release as well as keeping some fish for the dinner table. Thanks!

  • what size sinkers are you guys using in the strong current

  • @MrRenob13 We were using 3 oz sinkers, but if the current is really strong, we can go up as high as 5 ozs, as you want to ensure your bait stays in one place.

  • how much weight are you using?

  • @lttmoney Due to the current, we were using 3 oz sinkers.

    thanks for tuning in.

  • im going catfishing today. Wish me Luck!

  • @KyBucs17 Hope you have a fantastic time on the water and that you catch plenty! Have a great day.

  • @thundermistlures thank you!

  • @MrPokemonfan231 Best of luck to you!

  • wow, we catch much bigger ones in clear lake, all we do is drop shot in deep water with a shad imitator

  • @fishinfury007 That's great! What ever works for you is a good thing - good fishing!

  • you fish with other kinds of fish?

  • @XxMrhockey12Xx Yes we use fish as cut-bait to catch catfish . Thanks!

  • nice fish

  • @Rjn357 Thanks! Good fishing!

  • SO YOU WONT HAVE TO PUT SO MANY BANK WEIGHTS GET PYRAMIDS THEY WORK BETTER AT SITTING IN ONE SPOT AND ALSO THEY CAMO IN 1/4 OZ TO 10 OZ

  • @reptifreak99 They are great weights that work perfect in current. Thanks!

  • will u guys add more catfish videos? i love them and would really appreciate it

  • @ModelCarMan14 We have a few catfish videos out, so be sure to check our youtube channel or you can search for our videos on our Thundermist Fishing Tips web site.

    Thanks for tuning in!

  • cool my are bigger

  • @Dalton1820 Glad to hear you are catching big catfish - they are a lot of fun!

  • "thats a decsent one!" lol

  • @rickalee1 Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for writing in!

  • @thundermistlures yea, you taught me somthin i didnt know about catchin catfish

  • @rickalee1 Glad we could help and we hope you have a great summer on the water! Thanks again for taking time to write to us and until next time, good luck and good fishing.

  • i was fishing grand river today in caledonia ontario, i through out three cans of corn in a span of a few hours to try to attract carp and redhorse suckers but the catfish ended up swarming in lol. i caught 4 catfish, is it normal to have attract catfish by throwin out corn?

  • @99pitbulls Yes - catfish are also attracted to chumming with corn.....sounds like you still had a great day on the water and thanks for sharing.

  • Im going to the Welland river saturday. What species are on the bite now?

  • @FishingwithKT Great time to go to the Welland River as everything is on the bite right now - you will be able to catch bass, pike, carp, catfish and panfish....perhaps even a bowfin!

Hope you get into some great action and that you have a fantastic day on the water!

  • @FishingwithKT Caught several channel cats, including a 5 pounder, a bowfin, 2 sheephead, a silver bass and a white sucker... and a guy 4 feet from me caught 2 muskies the other night (night after I caught the 12 pound channel cat). Guys are catchin Walleye on the down river side, and I pulled a 22 inch pike outta there 3 weeks ago

  • I pulled a 12 pound channel last night right before where the Welland river flows under the canal through the aquaduct. I was using worms dipped in rotten garlic egg for scent, 10lb monofilament on a medium action rod w/a medium action reel... put up a great fight, had lots to keep him away from down there. They do a lot of top feeding, a behaviour I am not used to seeing in catfish. I found a large (maybe 11 inch) mudpuppy curled in his stomach. This river has TONS of catfish and pike in it!

  • @MegaTwitch23 Nice catch! That's a popular fishing spot on the Welland. You're so right about the plenty of catfish & pike. At night, catfish will feed suspended as a scent trail will lead them there to the food source. Thanks & good fishing!

  • @thundermistlures We actually fish on the upstream side of the aqueduct and never see anyone there, they are all on the downstream side near Merrit Island. The night i caught the 12 pounder they were actually breaking the surface while feeding..... the one i caught broke surface just before he grabbed my bait. The five pounder I had the next night had a belly full of corn and what looked like dog food

  • Hey what is the best bait for catfish? in a pond, and what is the best place to catch them in the pond? thanks

  • @mexbrown Fresh cut bait, such as cut sucker or cut sunfish is a great bait to use. If you can not get any, try using chicken livers as they will also work for you.

In your pond, try to find some deep water or a deep hole and fish in that area at this time of year. Perhpas a bay right beside a point, would be a good place to start.

Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water!

  • What lb test are you guys using?

  • @trakman2006 We like to use 14 lb. mono or 30 lb. braid. Leader material is also 14 lb. mono. Thanks!

  • Where is the poisonous barb that you need to avoid, that fin at the very top? Also can you 'lip' this fish like some people do with bass (you know to pick it up out of the water)??

  • @oaney You need to avoid the top fin (dorsal) & both side fins (pectoral) which cotain the barbs. The fish can be lip locked but they will clamp down on your finger & have many small fine teeth that will cut the skin. Suggest to use a glove. Try learning to pick up the fish with your hand (hands) behind both pectoral fins. Thanks for your inquiry & good luck!

  • @oaney there is no poison in the barb (sharp pointed bone) but as with any wound (should you get stabbed) you run the risk of infection. I have been stuck twice this year and have had no infection. The last on went in over an inch ( I dropped it upside down on my foot and the barb stuck deep into the side of my big toe) it bled a little and hurt for about 10 min but I'm just fine.

  • use fish that is

  • @TheAirhunter69 It's always good to have a back-up plan. Good fishing!

  • ha ha! i have done that when i ran out of hotdogs

  • Good Video Guys!! what type of bait do you use?? please be specific.

  • @son2u69 We used fresh sucker as cut-bait. Thanks & good fishing!

  • @son2u69 just about any rough fish will do. i have a lot of luck using shiners and goldeneye cut into 1-2" chunks.

  • i was just wondering where do you live most likely in the states right

  • @Wheatleyfisher We live in Canada but fish in the USA as well as Canada.

Thanks for taking time to write to us and good luck on the water!

  • Great Videos Man

  • @RApRaT521 Glad you are enjoying our videos and thanks for taking time to write to us. Until next time, good luck and good fishing!

  • i use 30 lb test cause were i go fishing our channel cats are 25 pounds or more and carp are the same.

  • @Wheatleyfisher Carp & catfish are both fun to catch - especially the bigger ones. A good drag system is also a must - thanks again for writing in & good fishing.

  • i use 30 lb test cause were i go fishing our channel cats are 25 pounds or more and carp are the same

  • @Wheatleyfisher Thanks for sharing.....looks like you have some great fishing in your area and we hope you have a great summer on the water.

  • Can I use 10 lb test line for Cat fish?

  • @feraloner Sure, 10 lb. line is good for smaller fish. For fish over 10 lb., it's best to use heavier. Thanks!

  • Great catch! looks like you guys are having fun....:)

  • @ivezb Always fun fishing for catfish! Thanks!

  • i like ur videos. they are very informative.... but i HATE your voice.

  • @BromptonCocktail100 Ivo's voice & accent may not be pleasing to everyone but the main thing is to inform. Thanks & good fishing to you!

  • Omg I'm leaning on my left elbow

  • ************THUMBS UP IF YOUR LEANING ON YOUR LEFT ELBOW

  • nice!!!

  • @tootie8823 Thanks! Good fishing to you!

  • today i got my biggest catfish at 30 inches and 15lbs

  • @MrIronmaiden1234 ....Nice fish! Thanks for sharing your story with us and hope you have a great summer on the water and catch plenty more fish.

  • @MrIronmaiden1234 god thats my dream or bbigger!! lol

  • what hooks do you prefer best for catfish?

  • @cdrpnt2007 We really have no preference. We use J hooks, bait-holders, circle hooks. Thanks for writing & good fishing!

  • @thundermistlures thanks for replying! keep catching the big ones!

  • @cdrpnt2007 circle hooks

  • those r small the cat fish hat i catch would eat that becuase just on friday night i cuaght a 75 lb catfish

  • @TheAsNbreadbasket That's huge! Congratulations! Keep up the good fishing!

  • @TheAsNbreadbasket Sounds like a fish story. Pics or it didn't happen! lol

  • what bait? chicken liver good?

  • @TheIceIsRight71 Yes, chicken liver is good. You can also try fish cut-bait, raw shrimp, raw clam as well. Thanks & good fishing!

  • @thundermistlures have you ever used 2 day old raw chicken people tell me thats the best bait for channel and bull catfish

  • @Caseyloewer We have used chicken breast for catfish and it does work for channel but hav never caught bullhead on it. Thanks for your inquiry!

  • I just got a pflueger president medium. What kind of line can i put on it?

  • @MrRedskins0021 Suggest running 12 lb test or less - if you are going for channel catfish, 10 lb test should be just fine.

If you want to go with heavier line, use braided line with a mono or fluorocarbon leader. The braid is much thinner...spinning reels are not made to handle thick, heavy mono - but braid is o.k.

We have other videos showing the proper way to spool up a spinning reel and also how to spool up with braid.

Thanks for writing in and good fishing.

  • that wasa nice catch what was the bait, hook size, size weight any tips??....

  • @isniperu5 Cut sucker was the bait, but most fresh cut baits work well, including cut sunfish. The hook size is 5/0 and we have plenty of tips for you on our Thundermist Fishing Tips web site, so feel free to check it out.

Until next time, good luck and good fsihing.

  • just wondering what rod/reel combo your using?

  • @rufus212 Actually, on this day, Ivo was using his slat water striker combo rod & reel form Cabelas. It is not needed for Channel cats, but it was a medium heavy action, just in case they got into some bigger fish.

thanks for writing in and good luck on the water

  • is it better to fish in timber or on rocks

and is chicken liver a better bait then kut bait

  • @gtcjr18 For catfish, we would fish timber over rocks. Also, both cut bait and chicken livers work well, but we prefer to use fresh cut bait.

Thanks for writing in and good fishing!

  • i have a question do you use just a hook and bait or do you a type of lure with bait

  • @goldmaz23 Just a hook with bait will work great for you.

Thanks for writing in and good lcuk on the water!

  • Where is the place located?

  • @mdjhussain This is the Welland River at Wellandport Ontario. the river runs along the road and is easily accessible in a few areas.

Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water.

  • lol, i love how some of the people are trying to be smart and all and yours like, thanks for sharing and good fishing lol, but yea, tighten your drag a little bit, not trying to be smart.

  • @loadofdump Thanks for sharing your opinion!

  • tighten your drag you looked preety dumb

  • @james654100 Thanks for commenting & good fishing!

  • @james654100 you know you spelled pretty wrong.....

  • @james654100 if he tightened it the line wouldve snaped or it wouldve ripped the hook out dont you feel pretty dumb

  • using 30lb test and it took that long to get it in? ......I caught a 27lb on 6lb test line in less time......but good catch

  • @mrbillykid2 Compared to 6 lb., having 30 lb. line shouldn't take as long to reel in. Thanks for sharing & good fishing!

  • is it weird for a 1 year old catfish to be 6 pounds because we put in finger lengths one year ago and they're six to seven pounds now but we don't feed them

  • @243pokemon They grow fast if there is a good food supply. They are probably feeding on crayfish, snails, worms that enter the water at night after a rain, small fish, aquatic vegetation, aquatic insect larvae, clams and probably other food as well. Thanks for your information & good fishing!
