  • Thank you for explaining this in such great detail. I will try to do each sound on the MOPHO. I saw someone do the sounds on the tetra however he would not explain how he did it. You are truly a good sport to let us in on the secrets of Pink Floyd sound generation.

    You are awesome!!!!

  • great video!

  • Extremely useful tutorial. Thanks a bunch!

  • @Goldfishclown You're very welcome!

  • Respond to this video...

Audiomidi has a VERY nice emu of the VCS3 going for $20. It an LE version but is just their v.1.04 from june last year. They're on v.1.1 now so they've reduced it big time.

Essential purchase mate, no dongle needed either. Cheers.

  • Thanks, nickeax. I was just working on this tonight ,with an E-MU Xtreme Lead.I found your video & it will be very helpful.I had a good start. The square wave & I was controlling the filter & resonance off of knobs. The 'wah wah' part was what I was missing.I used some slower attach there, but still didn't have it patched correctly.

    Thanks for the video !

  • @OrbVroomer You're welcome! Glad to see you're getting the results you're after.

  • magic, you need to set the sequencer one destination (Seq 1 Dest) to Oscillator 1 Frequency (01F). It's in the bottom left corner. On the evolver, the sequencer can modify many settings besides just pitch. This setting tells the sequencer to modify note values. Hope this helps.

  • Something is going wrong because I can't do my own sequence. Using a keyboard, even the setups are well configured [77, 78, midi rec, loq seq] i can't record the notes that I want.

  • ...Somehow, in one program I recorded some notes, but after that, all parts has played same notes, and when I tried to record on seq 3 [for example, when i push just one singular key it is playing one by one the notes that I previously recorded on seq 1... what am I doing wrong, please somebody help me... And I didn't understood how to program from Evolver itself the sequencers... thx

  • This sequencer is similar to very early sequencers in its operation. Basically, there are 16 possible steps for each 'Seq'.

  • Thank you so much for this video. I am a new purchaser of the Evolver Desktop and it's such a crazy beast it's hard to know where to start learning - this is the only video out there that really shows how to work certain controls and stuff. I know you never meant to be Evolver-specific but you still wound up the best!

  • Oh thanks, and I'm very glad you liked the vid!

  • thank you for this tutorial :-)

the evolver is a great small synth

    its a spitting beast :-D

  • You're welcome.

  • Is great to have teachers!!!!

  • I'd love to see you do "On The Run" with the new Dave Smith Tetra!

  • its the same damn thing

  • musical geniuses+1973+fiddling around on a synth eks=ON THE RUN :)

  • Don't forget LSD!

  • Great tutorial! Thanks for your time and patience! :) I have one of those, it totally rocks!

  • Awesome tutorial. Marvelous stuff indeed. Thank you very much!!!!

  • You're welcome and thanks for the kind words!

  • Can this be used as stand alone synth with just a midi keyboard?

  • pretty sure thats the ONLY way.

  • You can dial in sequences simply by diddling the knobs.

  • Starting from your two tutorials, I've been created my "On the run" setup (by Kurzweil PC3).

The result is avaible on my channel: I'd like to receive your opinion.

    You're great! Thanks a lot :)

  • Thanks for the encouragement mate. I checked out your vid and it sounds great.

  • woo perfect ,,, haa trip...

  • PERFECT!! I"VE GOT THE NOTES!

  • Nick,

how many oscilators are doing the

square wave part. This synth sounds realy phatt.even phater than prophet 08,or mopho

  • Just the one. :-)

  • LOL Mopho... like mofo.... LOL, just had to say that.....

  • I would say it's not phatter. (I have a P08)

  • Can you tell me the right notes sequence?

  • They are shown in the video.

  • oh! THANK YOU SO MUCH for showing how to make a sequence real fast! I bought the desk top Evolver because I could not afford the keyboard version. The matrix system is quite logical but I was kind of stuck with the arpeggiator and didn't want to go through the bloody manual (lazy me!)... this very much cleared up everything with modulating & sequencing sounds! I also like Pink Floyd... so that all fit pretty well! I'll look at video n# 2 now... You got me inspired too :-)

  • I'm happy to hear that! I made this video the same day I purchased the Evolver, so being as stupid as I am, proves how easy she is to use. :-)

  • well... maybe that is why I did not start using the arpeggiator! :-D

  • That's not the wright sequence. Wrong notes. But good sound. See the documentary "the making of the dark side of the mooon" and you will se the wright notes. Bye

  • I didn't think David used the original notes on that one. I sourced these notes from WikiPedia!

  • you're wrong, this guy gets it (w?!...) right. I think I saw the documentary but either way this is correct. listen to the album version

  • Ha ha. I think the 'w' is a reference to Richard Wright. Although he had nothing to do with this song.

  • Nice,I lik the evolver a lot,it doesn't cost a lot, nice analog sounds and it becomes freakish combining these with the digital part.

Some users compain about it being to digital sounding, but you have to tweak it a bit more I guess

  • sick video

  • krazy - brought back memories of when i saw P.Floyd playing at Hollywood Bowl live in the 1970's - thx 4 posting from a Cali-gal!

  • very nice,evolver is a wonderful synth

  • Certainly is! I bought the P'08 on the same day, but if I had the money, I would have gone the keyboard version. That thing is just beautiful. :-)

  • COOL!
