Omg the original cast. I remember seeing this original cast show in 1994 (was 10) and really enjoyed it. I was omg beast is singing!!! Lovely show and never saw new cast cause didn't want to ruin my good times watching the original cast. Jealous that the dance studio that had a day camp went to see this and meet the cast afterwards and missed it :(

@DanteMGreen Eh.. no, he isn't. This is the original Broadway cast, which means the first ever to present this show on Broadway. Nick Jonas must have interpreted Chip in a later version, with another cast. The one interpreting Chip in this video was Adam Wylie.

Susan Egan is a great singer and a terrific broadway star....but i am not all that fond of the wig (is it a wig? i hope its a wig!) that she wears at the end.....it just looks strange with her face shape and that she had such short hair in the beginning so the wig looks obviously fake....other than that, BROADWAY!! BRING IT BACK!!!

It may just be a rumor though. I heard that from someone who has been working with the Disney company for years.

Terrence Mann was amazing in this. He doesn't suck at all. I saw him in The Addams Family and he was fantastic. He waved to me at the very end because I was sitting in the front row and he saw me smiling basically the entire time. And he talked to my aunt after because she danced onstage with him when she saw Cats. He is so kind.

I LOVE this show!!! I was like 3 when the Broadway production opened so I saw it when I was about 5 with Chuck Wagner and Kerry Butler. It made me want to be an actress and I'm still on that path today :-) I only saw that production one other time before it closed and I'm still VERY bummed about that. I DID see the new national tour last month and I LOVED IT!!! It's like a loving revisit of an old friend. You guys should see it if you have the chance. And I agree, Bring Beauty & the Beast back!

If this is the only recording you've heard of him as Beast, I'd highly recommend you find the album version or some of the other bootlegs before making a call like that. One, the recording here is... pretty bad. The tape it was taken from didn't seem to be in that great of shape, and the transfer to digital did it no favors. And two, Mann always did sound a bit head-cold-y here to me...

As for Javert, I think he did a fine job considering he was quite young when it was recorded.

Absolutely astonishing production. If I Can't Love Her is one of my favourite songs form a musical, its just beautiful. I was lucky enough to see this same production on its UK tour when I was veyr young, I believe it was one of the things that has inspired me to love theatre to this very day, thank you a million times Disney Theatricals (: I am Lefou in Beauty next week, if anybody knew how excited I was then I'd be veyr surprised! I love when Chip runs out and hands Belle a rose. I sort of wish there was a scene like that in the movie. It would be so cute if there was.
