  • champ car

  • 2012 champcar and indy are gonna have turbo chargers ftw.

  • champ car all day bitches

  • Champ car sounds like a castrated F1 car

  • Champ Car sounds crap, F1 all day long!

  • Watch this for the real V10 orchetra...

    watch?v=eMDdQgBI5Hw

  • champ car kicks ass

  • @ballcrack10 Cant touch F1

  • the first car arent a f1 car

  • The F1 car shown is a 2 seater V8, find a good clip of the last couple years they had V10's

  • To be honest i think both cars have massive power for their class of racing...

  • Respect to the old V12s, but the best sounding engines I've ever heard (and I've heard all F1 engines live from 1988 onwards) were the F1 3.0 L V10s just before they banned them. Reving up 20,000 rpm, with a depth and brutal rawness that the V8s (or anything else) just can't match, they were incredible. I can still remember the cars accelerating out of the last corner at Albert Park. Goosebumps every time I was game to take my earplugs out.

  • F1 wins.

  • which 2 seater f1 car was that, never seen it before.

  • @seaton66 looks to me a repainted Minardo

  • @minipcpro Actually, until you've heard a Miller 91 front drive from 1929 (1.5 litre [91 cubic inches] straight eight, supercharged), you haven't heard one of the greatest sounds of any racing engine. Millers were absolute jewels, and the one I saw (and listened too) at Pebble Beach in 2003 will never be forgotten.

Another great-sounding motor is the BRM 1.5 L V-16 from 1950. Incredible sound! Terrible reliability.

In fact, any great racing motor makes a great sound!

  • Formula 1! That's easy

  • first one.

  • F1 FTW!!

But really, who couldn't love the sound either one make??

  • No contest. Its F1

  • Formula 1 hands down for me!

  • F1 sounds great to me...I like the revs up at 21K... Champ car is around 14K I think, and seems like I am waiting for them to really put there foot in it but that's where it shifts...

  • They both sound great, but there's something about the sound of the Champcar turbo V8. If you never had a chance to hear one coming into turn one before the braking zone at Long Beach, it sounded like an F18 doing a fly-by with all of that air being sucked into the turbocharger. There was nothing like it. The Champcar formula is sorely missed.

  • The Champcar engine definitely sounds better. But personally I like all racing. F1, Indycar, NASCAR, Sports Car.... it doesn't matter. If you really love racing you love it all and don't play favorites.

  • The Formula One Car sounded Nasty and the Champ Car sounded like it got to business quicker!

  • To be honest, I like the Champ Car more. There is turbo but also a deeper more harmonious note that swells gracefully and evenly from the ICE as well. Not as loud, but it just sounds sweeter with depth and subtle texture the F1 just lacks.

The F1 sounds rather like crude racket in comparison. The hard fall off during gear shifts and the cracking exhaust, and harsh, monotonous, ICE, all just hurt to listen to it.

    But that's me.

  • @DocWolph Totally agree

  • I believe the first one isn't a F1 car...it might be a derivation of F1...but it ain't the real deal...or maybe I'm wrong...but. Anyway, the high pitch of the first car is spine

...the low pitch of the second one says...BRUTE!! I like both,

  • all you can hear from the champ car is the turbo whine. F1 Rules!

  • CHAMP CARS FOR EVER....

  • I was lucky enough to see champcar at the goldcoast races and I have a special place in my heart for that brutal force fed v8 scream. Man I miss those cars. But don't get me wrong the ferrari sounds horn too.

  • I prefer CHAMPCAR

  • i dunno f1 is loud and obnoxious and the champ car sounds really powerful. its kinda like a honda civic with one of those retarded mufflers versus a ford gt.

  • Try listening to the old Matra V12. It was a screamer. I'll vote for the F1 engine. I'm not sure it matters much though.

  • F1 sounds better but during acceleration the Champcar doesn´t sound bad either.

BMW V10 and Ferrari V12 - Best sounding engines on the planet.

  • dude that wasnt even fair!!

  • The Champ car sounds like a motorbike. That F1 exhaust note if music to my ears :)

  • Champ car because there pro

  • F1 sonds better than Champcar.

  • F1

  • Why compare? They both sound fantastic and I want to drive either one of them (in my dreams of course).

  • Comment removed

  • definitley F1 car sounds better than champ car

  • Without hearing it in person it is not fair to judge, but if I had to chose, mark me down for CC.

  • CHAMP CAR SOUND SCARY AS HELL.... THE F1 HAS A HELL OF A SCREAM.... WOW... THE CARS FROM HELL BAD ASS.... KILLERS...

  • CHAMP CAR SOUND SCARY AS HELL.... THE F1 HAS A HELL OF A SCREAM.... WOW...

  • A Ferrari V12 from 1995 will kill the Champ Car for sound

  • @ej36055 it'll kill anything!

  • @kimifan06 I agree on F1 over Indycars but I have been witness to a car (in person) that beats even Ferrari V12's and Judd V10's. If you have never heard a 4 rotor Mazda wankel prototype racecar you have not heard it all. Youtube a 16 second clip that features a scream like nothing you've ever heard. This green/yellow Mazda I witnessed in the early 90's. Left us staring at each in shock and disbelief when it zoomed and asking ourselves: "WhatWasThat"?!!!!!!!!!

  • @65FALCONSG its green/orange not yellow and its one of the most famous cars in the world XD It has a rotary engine and it won the Le Mans back in the 90's which was a really great triumph for mazda proving that rotary engines work.

  • @65FALCONSG btw its called the Mazda 787b, there were 2 made, the second one had the same colors but the orange and green was switched

  • @mkampinga Look for the 16 second clip featuring the yellow/green Mazda I was refering to. The sound on that clip captures it like no other yet on this website!

  • @65FALCONSG cool ive seen it now. it has great sound indeed. rotary engines are awesome :D

  • @kimifan06 and anyone unworthy in the cockpit.

  • @kimifan06 that1995 car was my first and true love

  • @ej36055 Yes that is the best sounding racing car I have ever heard along with the BMW V10 from 2004. But in general V12's rule, even Superleague Formula cars beat this for sound and they only rev up to about 12,000rpm but being V12 makes all the differance!

  • the f1 on high rev. the champ car on low rev. becauae of the turbos aspiration ;)

  • Not much to choose between them as far as sound.

  • Formula One V10 ftw

  • with such an audio quality, i prefer the sound of my ass.....

  • Prefer the Champ cars myself, F1 is too technologically based these days. Champ cars still have manual transmission which forced drivers to take a hand off the wheel to shift. Makes it much more interesting to watch

  • @Falkirion F1 also has manual transmission. Plus, now they have two additional buttons to push like KERS and DRS. So in qualifying, every time they come out of corner, they shift gears, push the DRS button and depending on the straight - use KERS

  • @GagLV The thing with F1 manual transmission though is that they dont have to take their hands off the wheel to change gears. They flick the paddle behind the wheel to shift. Champ cars you have to take a hand off to shift, leaving you a bit more prone under braking to lose control.

Agree with you on the KERS and DRS, reaching those buttons is tough on the driver.

  • @Falkirion I like the f1 cars of twenty-thirty years ago. Senna, Prost, Mansell, Piquet, Alesi, they all had to downshift through the gearbox, usually while heel-toe braking to maintain as much car control as possible, with one hand on the wheel....that era has never been matched for talent, in my opinion.

  • @DeAdiSSu3 Agreed. The days with Senna and Prost battling it out for the championship were great races to kick back and watch. Though I had to do so retroactively as I only picked up F1 after 1996.

  • @Falkirion Haha me also, I still watch the old footage online as much as possible. Old quali sessions in the 80's and early 90's are still thrilling to this day, at least to me.

  • @Falkirion Faster cars and more skilled drivers make f1 more interesting

  • @MrStig691 "more skilled drivers" is debatable.

  • Champ car all the way. Shit sounds more refined. Plus you hear the transmission.

  • @Foxxtrott1100 Don't be ridiculous. The pinnacle sounds much better

  • theres no f1. the first care IS a champ car. it clearly says champcar and there is even a passenger in it! vote this video THUMBS DOWN for wasting out time!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • the champ car is less annoying over a long time but doesn't sound better

  • of course the f1, the champ sounds like an rc car at first, and then it farts. WTF

  • I don't care if it is a F1 an Indy or Champ Car, as long as it has internal combustion engine screaming for mercy I'll love it.

  • @watchamaculey

    Amen and amen and amen!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm american, but I must admit, the F1 sounds MUCH better. Even today's F1 v8's sound better than the champ cars....i've never even heard of a champ car until today.

  • @DeAdiSSu3 thumbs down for not hearing of champ car

  • @TheEgg185 Take your thumbs, point them up, and shove them in your ass.

  • Formula 1.

  • F1 is wild beast!

  • F1 is wild beast!

  • Yeah, something about the higher sound on an F1 engine that is very appealing.

  • Champ Car

  • The F1 is best!

  • for those that cant/wont read the description...... Which one sounds better? Comment on your opinion, rate, and subscribe to kimifan06. Both shots taken at the 2007 San Jose Grand Prix. :-)

lets see that one more time.... Which one sounds better?

not what is faster, more expensive, etc, etr

    lol

  • @worldtravel101 thank you!

  • NO FORMULA 1 THERE!

  • Nothing in this world sounds better than a formula one car !!!

  • f1 all the way!

  • I can't tell, but I guess it doesn't realy matter that much since Champ Car no longer exists.

  • FORMULA 1 10/10.

    CHAMP CAR 5/10.

    VICTORY F1 OR COURSE!!!

  • stig781....not really sure what your talking about....sorry I just find it funny that just about everyone has turned this youtube post into a performance comparison, when the title of the video states 'sound".

  • @111catron exactly! thank you...

  • @kimifan06 We clearly hear the Champ car's turbo whistle, which is a nice, less savage, more "hi-tech" sound (I'm talking about sound). Still, I've always prefered the kind of "beast" that a F1 engine is : somehow indomitable, feline... A tiger !

  • champ car

  • Prefiro

    ChampCar

  • actually what is the difference between those two?

  • @blackteets The F1 car is powered by a high revving V10 while the Champ Car is powered by a turbocharged V8.

  • lol you call this an F1 ? waw good job ( Best F1 sound Ferrari 412T1 1993 and 1994 to.

  • thats not even a champ car.. its a formula atlantic

  • @skidharder No that's a Champ Car. I think that's the DP01 and that's Paul Tracy I believe.

  • champcar!

  • F1 safety car!

  • @8NTNNV8 like like like like like like

  • @8NTNNV8 yer f1 saftey car cos its louder

  • The F1 isn't anywhere near full throttle so this video doesn't do it justice

  • the turbo sound is very obvious in the champ car

but i like the f1 sound

  • too bad you couldnt find a better video of the F1 car running up its gears though.. this driver couldnt find traction and sounds were interupted by traction control..

  • formula 1 is a raw powerful scream of NA power while the more meaty drumming of the champ car accompanied by the turbo spool sounds magnificant. id has to say both are beautiful deafaning sounds but ive always enjoyed the screaming of formula 1 more.

  • champ car has a deeper tone, and while very powerful and impressive in its own right, the F1 engine has a noise that just screams of incredible engineering

  • Well... The champ car sounds more meaty, the F1 sounds much more refined... I love both xD

  • Champ car sounds nice and soft, F1 have rude sound but have the sounds of power

  • @abuabdillahaljawi yes i think it sounds angry! hhe

  • I like the turbo sound :)

  • Good work, you had given a tough job for me to compare(lol); but power != sound ;) champ car sound very engineered, Formula1 a oil gulping beast's bloody noise!!!!; both shows power in their sound !!!!

  • the f1 sound is def louder but their equally great! (Y)

  • aston martin dbr9 sound is the best ;)

  • @xXxMikeDirnTxXx it's V12....

  • I love F1, but the "champ car" is best sound!

  • I would take a non-turbocharged IRL V8 over both of them. That is unless you factor in vintage F1 cars like at the Monterey Historics with V12s, flat 12s, 16 cylinders, and all the cool stuff that used to be F1, and then I would pick those hands down over all other series including current F1 put together.

  • f1 !!!!

  • but those sounds depend highly on the rpm limit: 19000rpm for f1 and 13000rpm for champcar. both sounds are music!

    irl sounds suck!

  • Honestly I say both,

  • Having seen the two-seat F1 car and the Champ Cars run at Burke Lakefront for the last few years they ran, I have to say the Champ Cars sound better. The F1 car was awesome, but harsh. The Champ Cars make a wider variety of sounds, from the turbos to the backfiring to the blow off.

  • Champs cars sound like what F1 used to sound like in the 1980's and 1990's. Buth then regulations came in demanding that they make the engines smaller and more fuel efficient, I like the Champ car sound because it is a bit nostalgic but the F1 car sounds far meaner because those Revs are absolutely crazy.

  • champ car is the winner

  • what the hell is a champ car?? f1 engine is the best, not just the sound...

  • it is not f1!!! it is a two seat exibition car which has nothing common with formula 1

  • @TonyMontana55555 true, but it has a formula one engine and therefore a formula one sound, and that is all that matters in this video, since i am only comparing the sound of the cars.

  • @TonyMontana55555 same engine

  • @TonyMontana55555 it is a formula 1 minardi was the owner of it dick head

  • @TonyMontana55555 I was preparing to post a comment asking what brand is that F1 car cause It doesnt look like F1,till I saw your comment......

  • @TonyMontana55555 it has a minardi f1 engine, which is all that matters since i'm just comparing sound. it could be on a soapbox chassis for all i care.

*not sure if i already replied to this comment

  • @kimifan06 the problem is when you have a big fat ass american driving a champ car the engine always sounds heavy because its struggling getting the fat burger eating git around!

  • @ThePEN6 ... nice... lol

  • F1 is simply the loudest and its an amazing sound. Almost like you can't believe an engine would sound like that. But the Turbo Champ Cars made a morebeautiful note of a sound. Especially when they passed at speed. They had sort of a ringing zing that kind of hung there. Check out some of the pre-split Champ Car vids when they were at Indy. Hopefully the new turbo engines have that cool sound

  • at low range the F1 car, but at max revs the Champ car

  • not really a propper f1 car. 2 seaters are built differently. inc. engine.

  • El Champ suena bien pero, el Formula parece sonido que estremese el cielo como si se fuese a romper y a caer

  • Comment removed

  • why do cham cars sound like a whistle and f1's don't?

  • @muraalf93 because that whistle is the turbo charger on the CHAMP car. The F1 engine is not turbo charged

  • i like both

both they have an original sound..if u hear an F1, u know that it's an F1, same as champ(more or less)

  • f1 is better

  • Cart engines from 2000 and 2001 were magic! The Toyota RV8E engine would rev to 17,500 (with steel valve springs) and sounded awesome!

But my choice would be Champ Car. I also loved the old F1 1.5 ltr Turbo engines from the 80's.

  • @Overboost44 The Cosworth XD and XF was the king of the CHAMP car engines. They came in to their own on the super speedways

  • I like the Champ Car sound...but, Formula One car sound is the best ever...

  • My gf fart sOund better.,. :D

  • F1 sounds better !!, nothing beats it

  • F1 win easily!

  • champcar always when they had turbos

  • F1 v10 sound > Champ car

    F1 v8 sound < Champ car

  • @23block23

youre absolutly right... the last engine with good sound is the v10 cosworth in the toro rosso's from 2006!

  • @351993fone I miss v12s, The 1995 ferarri was the last f1 car to sound brilliant.

  • @scottN1980 So true, it was truley screaming on track. F1 is just going downwards now anyway it feels like. FIA or whatever are to obsessed with "safety" and they want the cars to go slower for each year. They might as well impose a speed limit on track and ban overtaking all over. And before we know it, F1 will have inline-four engines.

  • @VuDu4000 Le Mans racing already does have some sort of speed limiter. ~300 mph or so hahaha

  • if a champ car engine went to 20k rpm it would explode and tbh the f1 clip does not justify the sound at the track

  • maybe u shud get sum better samples

  • F1 V10 > Champ Car > F1 V8

  • I've seen nascar, champ, and F1 and they all sound pretty awesome.. still like nascar better though.. big V8s just sound cooler.. checkout Pro Stock in NHRA .. Even they sound better than Champ and F1.. IMO

  • champ car sounds like an RC car when its turning the corner.

  • @LeijonatSOCCER Thats the gearbox that you're hearing.

  • Formula 1 sounds way better....revs higher

  • @MDIVISIONRULES

    lol I totally agree.

When I watched Champ Car, on TV or live, I thought they sounded great.

But watching these two clips one after the other it sounds like the Champ Car is totally short-shifting.

  • @kinnokaizoku Probably because it revved nowhere near as high as the F1 V10

  • champ car sound

  • When F1 was running the V12's they were the best sounds ever.

  • I used to say champ was the sweetest sound untill I attended my first f1 race at indy in 2006

  • I like both but prefer that sweet turbo melody of the ChampCar. Damn I miss that series. Thanks FTG....

  • i dunno bout yalls but both cars sounds kick ass! Folks also have to remember....one car has an engine that twirls 18,000rpms nearly while the other is lucky to cross the 13,000 rpm barrier. One's turbocharged, which actually muffles the engine sounds whole the others straight piped. This is like comparing the sounds of a MOPAR 440 to a Ferrari V8. Both engines will creat a sound that'll make anybody drool.

  • you got that right some people here are fighting to convince people this or that is better than the other bottom line but are fucking awesome!!!

  • 1000hp CART on an oval.

  • Champ car motor sounds better, or should I say turbo charged motor sounds better in this case. Especially at low revs and then up through the gears. Magic.

  • first one is a v10 and the other is a v8. v8 road cars sound better but the old v10 f1 the revs high sounds just brilliant
