@911Dreda11 First things first, Anti-lag and 2 step are completely different (just so you know, most people think its the same). 2 Step is controlled by an ignition output amplifier in most cases. it allows you to put a low rev limit on your engine for staging, basically it lets me floor the gas while staging while holding 4k RPM (for example) so i get a perfect launch each time.

I really don't understand it much so that's as in depth as I can explain it.
@Zvoncko a fuel cut, lets you set a very specific RPM for the fuel to cut off in a (somewhat safe) fashion... Only really used for drag launches and impressing the ladies in car shows :-)

A 2-step allows you to boost off a launch, by setting the boost to a certain point in the RPM's. Rather than launching then waiting for your turbo to spool. Its good because it allows supra's to continuously rape supercharged V-8's. :)

That being said, if a 3.0L turbo motor was the more efficient way of making 8000+ horsepower it would be used in top fuel. However they choose to use 500 CI American based V8's. @marek0086 Yeah and it would still be V8 architecture. Small displacement motors make power when they are spun up to higher rpms. Its all physics. They make more power because of increased rotational speed, not increased torque. A 500 CID DOHC I6 would be long, tall, heavy, and unwieldy. OHV V8 architecture is one of the most compact engine designs.

First of all, it doesn't "set the boost to a certain point". It's set at a certain RPM to change the timing so that the cylinders are actually firing with the exhaust valves open. That way you get much more exhaust flowing through the turbine side of the turbo to spool it at a lower RPM. You're also supposed to set it to the optimal point for traction. Second, I love Supras just as much as the next guy, but don't talk about them like they are untouchable. They can be beaten you know.
2 step fires the spark plugs when the exhaust valves are open, this causes the turbo to spool up so you can launch with boost. which otherwise u cant do in a manual car
2 step is launch control, it allows you to set the rev limiter wherever you want, e.g. 5,000 rpm. Yes it's also used to spool the turbo but it's mainly just to get the perfect launch without burning out.
Since when can you not have it on a manual car? That's the whole point.

@drkstr7 I never said my car made 2000 horsepower. I never said I owned a Top Fuel drag car, which by the way makes around 8000 horsepower, and yes uses a V8. Like I said, ya'll are cocky because your boosted built i6 puts down pretty big numbers. Unfortunately there's always someone better. In this case, it comes in the form of American V8's. If an i6 was the best way to make power, I'm sure it''d be used in Top Fuel, but they choose 500 cid V8's. Why? Because they plain MAKE MORE POWER.

What I meant by unlimited funds is that people from all over the world everyday experiment with new ways to go fast, and with money you can build anything to be fast. Just because a car has 8 cylinders doesn't mean it's the fastest thing on the road. Yay you have a Cobra, I like those cars...but I would rather have a supra. Supra's sound cooler to me. And the 2011 Mustang is awesome. But unfortunately, I still think you're insane.

@marek0086 False, they're based off big block architecture. They may be 100% custom build to withstand those kind of forces. That being said, if a 3.0L turbo motor was the more efficient way of making 8000+ horsepower it would be used in top fuel. However they choose to use 500 CI American based V8's. Which brings me back to my point. That there is no replacement for displacement.

@marek0086 Yeah and it would still be V8 architecture. Small displacement motors make power when they are spun up to higher rpms. Its all physics. They make more power because of increased rotational speed, not increased torque. A 500 CID DOHC I6 would be long, tall, heavy, and unwieldy. OHV V8 architecture is one of the most compact engine designs.

First of all, it doesn't "set the boost to a certain point". It's set at a certain RPM to change the timing so that the cylinders are actually firing with the exhaust valves open. That way you get much more exhaust flowing through the turbine side of the turbo to spool it at a lower RPM. You're also supposed to set it to the optimal point for traction. Second, I love Supras just as much as the next guy, but don't talk about them like they are untouchable. They can be beaten you know.

wen u have a 2 step installed, by depressing the clutch you lower the rev limiter...
so it allows u to spool the turbos and build ur revs, while holding ur foot down on gas but dsnt let it redline

2 step fires the spark plugs when the exhaust valves are open, this causes the turbo to spool up so you can launch with boost. which otherwise u cant do in a manual car

2 step is launch control, it allows you to set the rev limiter wherever you want, e.g. 5,000 rpm. Yes it's also used to spool the turbo but it's mainly just to get the perfect launch without burning out.
