  • This version is way better than the original:D Much more psychedelic and acid.

  • I think they are ok for oldies, the song still sounds good.quite reminiscent of the original monterey. sure, its not grace slick but it is never going to be again. she doesnt want to do it, she is nearly 72 for gods sake! i think the lady singing here is just fine.

  • Boo! Hot mess...love the original so much this is painful.

  • Strepitosi...

  • wow.. favourite ja song rruuined! awful when aging performers try and mess with their classics. wwwaayy too much freeform there.

  • they played grate this one

    I'm very glade

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

  • dont like much how it sounds..

  • Not bad at all. No the female singer isn't Grace but, then who is :)

  • WTF Marty you need to retire already. You're embarrassing yourself.

  • Sucks ass.

  • hmm this sucks idd, love the original version

  • this sucks... sorry/// two thumbs down

  • This is nothing more than an Airplane tribute band. Makes me want to pull out the original version which is superior in every way; this re-make has absolutely no emotion or subtlety.

  • who is the Gal---?

  • Diana Mangano, who left the band in early 2008.

  • I thought that was good...and great to see Marty and Paul still performing on the 40th anniversary of the original event!

  • Why are some of you harping on the fact that they don't have all the original members? I think they do a very good job of the song. Marty Balin still sounds good and they are a hell of a lot better than some of the bands from the 60's that have tried to make a comeback. Some are downright embarrassing. I always give credit where credit is due.

  • Starship needs to stop covering Airplane songs. They should do Air Supply, Styx, or Journey covers instead. Their current fans would probably love it.

  • dawnnaYT,: Since Marty Balin wrote and sang the original version of the song, and Paul Kantner (Co-founder of the JA) is present, this is hardly a cover version. It may not sound as it once did, but playing one's own compositions is much different than covering Air Supply. Grace is missed, but when Marty and Paul get together, along with old friends from the era, and talented female leads, the spirit lives on, even today! "Tree of Liberty" - New CD - This is not the Mickey Thomas "Starship."

  • Yep loving hearing this classic track 'Today' from Jefferson Airplane (original name)written by Marty and Paul and just love the passion of Marty Balin. This track still gives me shivers down the spine

  • What kind of crap is this???

These folks are NOT the Airplane...maybe in name, but that's all.

They took one of the best lil love ballads of all time and IMO, trashed it.

    What a disappointment.

  • at least the camera is on the right singer this time - unlike the last monterey performance of 'today"

  • haha, i kind of liked that moment of wierdness! surreal!

must say i prefer the original monterey version...

  • Is there anyone of the original airplane in the band now?

  • Yeah, the singer Marty Balin and that old guitarist who sings too.

  • Paul Kantner?

  • marty balin was my absolute hero as a singer he was the best but those days are long gone baby they have to be wealthy enough to retire the only thing great about them now is the amazing woman singer they can only ride the summer of love for so long apparently it is now winter

  • just a word thank u

  • starship:D

oh... how time did pass so fast.. ??!!

and i was no there, when it eas only airplane :(

    greetings:D

  • go hipiie bands! :D

  • Who are the personnel here? Or, who were the original Airplane members? Thanks!

  • I was there for both days and it was a blast!anyways

the guy dressed in black with the red star is Paul Kantner - Grace Slicks ex. and Male lead vocals is Marty Balin founder of the JA. Paul and Marty were the only two originals from the Monterey POP 67.

To see these two originals was very cool. I wish Grace

Yorma and Jack would have joined.Spencer Dryden the drummer unfortunetly passed away a few yeares ago.

    Jefferson Airplane - Starship rock!

  • Picnic area, the first night people broke through the green fence things. The second night Bret from Riders told the people to come to the stage, and he got everyone to light up. Marcy thanks for putting these up, did you happen to get "Have You Seen The Stars Tonite/Starship"?

  • Where did you sit Marcy?

  • I didn't really sit much. I was dancing with Primo Santana most of the time.

  • I just learned to play this song and will perform it in my Summer of Love set on 12-string guitar.

  • Wonderful, thank you very much
