seriously its hard to say which is best sound. For me Imai because I feel spain. The most important thing is what is feel from bottom of the mind for each player.
I couldn't afford the first two, but I didn't think they sounded any better than the Ramirez 125 anyway except maybe in the 1st string where they were a bit less "plinky." What I liked about the Ramirez 125 was that it seemed to have be very balanced; none of the strings seemed louder than the others. I also noticed that it seemed to be more responsive. When you did pulloffs it looked like you didn't have to dig into the fretboard very hard at all. I didn't care for the last two very much.
The difference in sound comes from the top.. The navarro is clearly the only one of the bunch that has a traditional Flamenco sound.. The Ramirez guitars sound verry nice but the bracing on the top is a little tighter the imai and kenny hil sound great but the thing is with Flamenco that amont of sustain isnt a good thing when you start playing extremely fast and aggressive as most flamenco is.. My vote for flamenco guitar is the Navarro hands down
Man, thanks for doing this. The Hill has some great basses! For my money, I like all except for the 2 Ramirez. No guts in the low E string there... I hoped for more out of the Navarro, was thinking of getting one. I would say the hill is the one for my taste.
The Imai has so much texture and character, makes me think of flamenco dancers in a smoky room! The Ramirez 125 years is my favourite in the group, so much variation in colour and you get the percussive upper voice contrasting with the warmth in the lower range. Your playing is beautiful, I enjoyed listening!
@AllysonsViolinStudio Thank you very much,I like your description of the flamenco dancers in a smoky room,I had fun playing them all, and am glad you enjoyed
Good going to do the comparison (was first time I heard a Yuichi Imai). The Imai gets my vote. The Hill sounds great but the others don't sound in the same class as these two. Thanks.
