Dave Hunt is essentially a Catholic outside the Catholic Church. He doesn't understand/believe in Justification By Faith Alone.
Like all Catholics, he teaches human free will apart from God, but can't show the teaching from Scripture.
Hunt believes the Almighty God fails to accomplish His desire to save all people contrary to the explicit testimony of Scripture which states that God always accomplishes His desires, Job 23:13. God determines to save some and not others, plain and simple.
I love Dave and some of his earlier books.... but on this subject he is woefully ignorant. Man has a will but this will is bent toward evil by dint of his choices. If man had a "free-will" Jesus would not have said "If the Son therefore set you free, you shall be free indeed." Arminians must discount this verse to concoct their "Man is free to choose" garbage. No, God's seed (The Word) must be first heard and understood to even have a chance at a choice of salvation.
You are to be mature in your thinking, this requires HARD deligant work. Dave's work is irresponsible and doesn't handle the text maturely at all. We are to be "workman". That word implies that it is our MAIN job. Hours poured over it, to know it, so you won't be misguided by every wind of doctrine, like Dave Hunt's.

So let me get this right u believe that great Christian leaders such as: Augustine, Martin Luther, Calvin, Knox, Spurgeon, Jonathan Edwards, Packer, John Piper, Warfield, the list could go on and on, were all wrong, but Dave Hunt is right? I think that is very arrogant! Furthermore, u believe that all these godly men were advocating a "harlot system"? Some of the most humblest, godliest men held to Calvinism. They were all decieved but u and Dave Hunt arent?
It's too bad you can't just examine Scriptures against man's word. You have placed individuals such as Martin Luther, Calvin, Knox, and others on a pedestal, making them essentially infallible in your mind. Dave Hunt is just as infallible, but at least he can admit it.
I hope you know that Calvin isn't the only one who taught about predestination. Go back to St Augustine, Martin Luther Jonathon Edwards etc Calvin didn't say anything new. I think i can speak for most calvinist that we are not followers of calvin just like we don't follow luther or any man we are solely in submition the bible and the bible alone.
Augustine was a Cahtolic monk and the founder of what is known as Calvinism. In fact Calvin said you could sum up his life with Augustines writings... I don't think hunt is the Catholic.... Check out how the Calvinist run Geneva no different than the way the pope runs Rome!
Calvinists follow calvin.
Christians follow Christ Jesus.
