This final scene has a great dreamlike end of life review about it. One can imagine someone close to death reviewing their life thinking of the wrong and right decisions made in life. You get to bring back anyone you wish and are able to speak with them to make your peace, or perhaps just to say farewell..I am going now..this is the end of this life and then you jump...
Vanilla Sky, the american remake of Spanish film "Abre los ojos (Open your eyes)", directed by Alejandro Amenábar in 1997. The original spanish film is better, in my opinion. The most of the scenes and exactly the same. And Penélope Cruz repeats rol in both movies.

Just saw this movie for the first time tonight. This scene put a knot in my stomach. I've probably watched it 50 times already. One of the best I've ever seen.
Thanks for posting! Lots of good comments here about possible meanings. I believe it is somewhat left to interpretation perhaps. I personally see it with 2 endings really... Thanks for posting! Lots of good comments here about possible meanings. I believe it is somewhat left to interpretation perhaps. I personally see it with 2 endings really... And each is significant, and meaningful in its own way. For me, this movie, and this scene in particular, makes me appreciate life, and the little things... Like my little girl. It makes me very sad at the same time b/c our time here is so limited, and knowing one day these moments i have with my family will be long gone. T

The song is Njosnovelin 'aka' Untitled 4 by Sigur Ros, one of my all time fav bands EVER! Such a perfect tune to that scene, though this version of the song is slightly different to what's on their 'Untitled' album.
