With faces in particular, you are going to need to make sure that both the camera and the background do not move between the two shots. I suggest a tripod for best results. I tested it and if either the background or camera move/change, the picture will have a higher probability of having clearly distorted edges where the fusing occurred. Tripods are relatively cheap, and a cameraman's best friend. Hope this helps!
