A great video ! Thanks for posting. Billy looking really good here and I am so pleased that we have this footage. Billy was Britain's greatest and first Rock 'n Roller! A really underrated singer/songwriter who possessed a magical voice and a gorgeous face! In this interview he appears to have lost his Liverpool accent! He seems so gentle and modest! Most unusual for a performer and so very nice. RIP. BILLY. Always love and miss you!
Just a wonderful video so lovely to see. Billy was so modest and gentle. Such a beautiful voice. The DVD BILLY FURY HIS WONDROUS STORY is available through Amazon and it is a great tribute to the man. He was a very special person and is sadly missed. Still love you Billy.xxxRIP
I always thought Eddie Cochran and Billy Fury were similar! :D At 1:44 he looks and sounds like Elvis! I think he sounds great in halfway to paradise!! :D xxxx♥
There was something of a frailty about him, the high cheek bones made him look gaunt. Rheumatic fever screws up the heart no wonder he died so young. Very thin guy did not look very well.
BROUGHT BACK SO MANY MEMORIES SEEING THIS VIDEO, I WAS BILLY`S BASSPLAYER 74/75 (I WAS 14YRS OLD) HE WAS THE SWEETEST GUY THE LAST TIME I SAW HIM HE TOLD ME ABOUT THE FARM HE WAS BUYING .
Nationwide was great and this is lovely. I had no idea he had run a farm. This must have given him a great deal of happiness. He does look pretty frail but very handsome.
I was the writer/interviewer/presenter on this film. Nice to know people still enjoy it, particularly the one who said "I never realised at the time that Nationwide reports could be so good!". Nor did I and I made a lot of them!
Billy was a delightful person and I look back on the time spent with him 28 years ago with great pleasure.
I play the drums with 'Blue Bayou' which is a Roy Orbison tribute band. Oops i've just read my original comment which said a 'Billy tribute act' i meant to say i played in a tribute band at the same venue as Billy. Sorry i'm a scatter brain!!! but have you ever known a sane drummer ha ha. It's all the banging you know.
If we're ever in your neck of the wood's i'll buy you a babysham and a bag of nuts :)
Great clip. He puts himself down, claiming he wasn't a great player or singer, but in truth he had an amazing talent for both. He was one of the first singer/songwriters and I think could have been far more popular if he didn't have the health problems. if you get a chance, have a listen to his first album 'The Sound of Fury' and the acoustic version 'Ths Sound of Fury Demos'. Great talent.
I keep seeing your name on all the Billy Fury clips you must really love him. I thought he was great too. I performed recently with a Billy tribute act at the Whitby 60's festival. He was a nice bloke and sounded a lot like Billy. I think his name was Rob. Keep rockin Cath!
Hi Benlooe, I was in love with Billy from the moment I saw him - thanks for your nice comments .. That would of been Rod Dee you saw at Whitby ,, lovely friend of mine ..you say you perform, what do you do ?? and Oww I'll keep rockin' lol ... love cathy xxx
Sadly missed today still love Billy Fury after over 50 years. Great interview with him.
