ive just had the engine re built on my 1978 rally 200 brand new old stock barrel & piston & a new mazzuchelli crank also had a sito plus exhaust fitted they sound great but also keep the scooter looking standard im running it on a 119 size jet.
I love the rally 200, is it true that when you keep the vespa in low RPM too long the oil will damage the engine? ALso what about when you let the engine idle for a long time?
the only reason i ask was that I took my Genuine stella, yes i know, to the dealer and they said that the right why it's smoking is because i didn't ride it hard enough and the spark plug has been sitting in a pool of oil and they and to put new spark plug as a result. I had to drive it at high RPM after that and it stoped smoking after a couple wks of high RPM driving
i had a red one back in 1979,cost me 300 pounds,lovely machine!

Ok, but remember it's a two-stroke, they smoke. I should'nt try to push the engine just to think it makes it stop smoking.
When cold they can smoke a bit more the first block or so.

I dont see how oil could damage an engine?
As for ideling a long time, maybe it could get a little hot, if thats what you mean?

yes, actually it makes it a little stronger compared to stock, also louder, but not too much.
You should go up to a 120-122 main jet.
