@RPRANGEL Hi RPRANGEL, I made the song myself using my Yamaha Keyboard and Garageband. I call it Tantalize but I'm sure that name is already taken. I can post it for download on blog if you want.
It took me a while to realize that the first pancakes were not small pancakes put carelessly close together, but rather the classic Micky mouse. I have to say, that is pretty awesome.
@XthewintermoonX Yeah. It was. Like a moving truck. You actually don't flip the truck. You let it cook till it's crispy, take it off with two spatulas, and then you fill in the void with whip cream and jam. :)
@ntzsw That's a great idea. I'm in the middle of moving so it will take about a month to get to it but I'll break it down for everyone. Thanks for the tip.
@bigzebes I know I know. But seriously, I tried to make the whole thing out of LEGO and my first attempt at putting batter inside a square box of bricks was an epic failure!
AND - what does the pneumatic pump do? it doesn't appear to be powering the motion - it almost seems like it's a timer? there's something attached to the gear that it's spinning that's counting out intervals or something - just curious, thanks!!
@iced327 check makermig.blogspot.com for details. In a nutshell, when the pneumatic pump turns in a clockwise fashion, it does two things, it pushes the flexible switch down which redirects the air into the air tank to allow it to compress. When the pneumatic pump turns counter clockwise, the cam (the thing attached to the gear) hits the flexible switch in the opposite direction and sends the compressed air into the ketchup bottles which pushes out the batter. And yes, it does act like a timer
I'm giving you a comment 'thumbs up' because you disabled ratings, which I don't understand because this would have a million 'likes'. this is amazing, way to be an awesome dad AND engineer.
Nicely done! I read your blog mentioning the option of a corkscrew feed, but I also thought maybe a peristaltic pump could allow you to carefully measure out the batter.
@wizardofkozz That's a great idea. I just have to figure out how to make one out of LEGO. :) There's a couple of issues I have and those are batter discharge flow velocity (which can vary with the batter viscosity) and distance to the griddle.
Ive never been so amazed by some robot making pancakes?!

@bigzebes I tried. ABS tends to melt when I put it on the griddle, then I get plastic in the pancakes, the girls get sick and it just never ends. :)

@migpics11 Well, certainly it'd be acceptable to have the LEGO blocks "holding" a nylon or silicon flipper...
