Do you idiots think Porter was really trying? A sparring session between a bigger guy & smaller guy or experienced guy versus an inexperienced guy is to help the lesser of the 2, so the bigger guy usually holds back more than the smaller guy.

And here you have a young guy (17) so they're definitely going to look out for him. Notice how they have on the headgear with nose protector...they're not trying to have any injuries in training that can postpone their fights.

Manny and Jose are closer in weight. Freddie had to tell Manny not to hold back so much on his sparring partners when Pac was preparing to fight Cotto, so fighters do hold back depending on who they're sparring.

You call that a beating? And yeah, if a guy has a pretty big weight advantage and has more pro fights, then he will take it easy or hold back on the younger, smaller guy. That's common knowledge; ask any trainer or boxer that's experienced enough to know and they'll explain it to you.

I know its only sparring but Porter really got shown up here. Good young prospect in Benevidez and hes only 17! He looks like a seasoned pro compared with Porter here who looks sloppy and has too many gaps in defence. I'll keep an eye out for Benevides he could be knocking on the door of a world title inside 4 years, definately a hot prospect for the future.
