Larry, I used to play trumpet in the school band and Herb Alpert also covered this tune on an album way back in the 60's. Alpert actually sung on this and did a good job. I bought the sheet music for it and played it many times. You bring back many good memories for me. Thanks again.

Herb Alpert sang this to his first wife in a 1968 TV special called Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. The sequence was taped on the beach in Malibu. The song was not intended to be released, but after it was used in the TV special, thousands of telephone calls to CBS asking about it convinced label owner Alpert (A&M Records) to release it as a single 2 days after the show aired. The song, written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, was Alpert's first #1 record. One of my favorites. Well done!!
