Similarities between Trent and Mel Gibson: Both like to paint their faces and run around a stage screaming like madmen. Both have "a thing" for torture. Both have had alcohol problems in the past. Both are recluses that rarely see the light of day. Both are obsessed with violence. Both have videos out featuring the thunderdome. Both think the aliens are going to arrive at any moment. Both believe that "the end is nigh". Both of their careers are down the toilet. Both don't know how to sing.
dude, i cant even believe the effects i see here! its looks so amazing that it seems as if this is bullshit photoshopped videos! trent reznor is a badass and i cant wait until they come to sacramento on 12/12.
Re: Deerhunter Sucking...Yeah, I thought Trent hated Pitchfork, but it seems like they picked out his entire linup of opening acts. It's bullshit. I don't mind the way Trent's been letting his pop roots loose, but catering to the Indie crowd is going a bit too far for me.
Deerhunter sucked, but they knew the audience was there for nin. They thanked the audience and reminded them that nin was next after damn near every song. Props for that I suppose.
the ACC ceiling was leaking on me in my section, lol, so i complained about it... leaking like mad.
me and my pal got floor access after, man, that was awesome... crowd was quiet compared to other shows i've seen to be honest, and the volume of the band was a lot quieter than i'm use to -- not that i'm complaining, this show rocked.
i will cry about how i missed wish because of the ceiling leaking though :(
This show was hands down the best stage show I've ever seen. Brilliant shit. Band sounded tight as hell as well. Only complaint is I thought they played wayed too much new stuff. Wasn't all that fond of the set list. Still a helluva show though.
Fantastic. Drove 10 hours in and out of Toronto from Montréal to see it and I believe it's the best show I've ever see. I was on the floor in this insane crowd, in this wave of crazy energy flowing toward the stage, and from that close, the projections on the "cage" really felt being inside a computer. A blast. Bravo.
You drove all the way from Montreal to see NIN? Wow! Good decision you made since they're not playing in Montreal. They still could, but right now, Montreal is not on their schedule! Btw, I was at the show and I lived in Montreal for a very long time. I've moved to Toronto last summer!
I was there! I went alone cuz I didn't find some1 to go. I was worried at the beginning because the seat that I was supposed to be on (Sec 108, Row 1, Seat 28) no longer exist, due to re-modeling (from what I've heard). Fortunately, I got my ticket exchange and sat on the same section and row, but 2 seats further. The show was just amazing: nearly 30 songs with a lot of lights and impressive visuals: best lightshow I've seen so far! It was 2 h 10 min long, but the show felt like 2 h 30 min.
Hey I also went alone! "So cool!" hahahah! Same section (108). Good show but not quite a classic, really. When trent had his one chance to speak to the audience he rather went apologetic: "this is the beginning of our tour n we been thinking what to play for u guys", nothing like "steal my music" or something. Still, a great freaking night, kind of a religious feeling to it. Someone said that The Slip would eventually grow on me and that just so happened after i got home from the concert.
Not at all, even if I could see row 13, I wouldn't have recognize you.
I'm not familiar with Deerhunter: I'm not a fan of them and also, I arrived late at the show not because of traffic, but because I decided to skip the opening act. By the time I arrived, they just finished their last song!
Oh! When I saw your message, I realize that you were talking about Deerhunter! You know, I've decided to start skipping opening acts because some are lames and it's a waste of time. That's what happened when I saw Coldplay last week: the opening act wasn't that good and I waited a lil' too long for Coldplay to come on the stage (50 minutes). However, I will go see Joe Satriani in October and opening for them is Mountain: I love that band and I already saw them once!
Some (most) do suck, alot of it has to do with shitty sound setup (not in deerhunter's case, it was just not very good). But I've learned of two good groups that opened for Tool (Isis and Tomahawk, though Tomahawk's sound was shitty live it was Mike Patton and you could hear underneath that something was there, checked it out and both bands now have albums on my shelf). But yeah, most opening bands do suck.
Interesting of the 2 bands you mentioned. I should check it out! Btw, I like Tool, but I never seen them in concert before. Have you seen Tool before, nipzie? If so, how were they?
I've seen Tool live in Hamilton last year and im pissed i missed the second show the next day. It was amazing, if you enjoyed this concert, chances are you'd love Tool's performance.
Seen them 6 times. Never been disappointed. They like to change up some of their songs and blend them into others much like NIN did. Isis's later works are long etherial tracks while their oldest stuff is quite hard, not as much melody. Tomahawk's first and second albums are very pattonesque and have much more of a musical element than Mr. Bungle, they have some great songs. Their third album is kind of experimental, native american sounds. Not as complete or directional as the first two.
They were ok, actually (deerhunter). I even added them to myspace lol. They also thanked the audience after each of their songs, which is so kind lol I liked that.
I thought the last concert was untouchable at the Molson amp theater, but once again he destroyed the untouchable and made this one the untouchable!I was right upfront!!
So many people were screaming and shit during the quieter songs and I have to say that's one of the downsides to most concerts. People are such buttholes sometimes.
I totally agree. People we standing up and blocking people during the instrumentals. During the instrumentals that wen you are supposed to sit your ass down and enjoy the music.
And for the people were hooting, hollering, talking during the Ghosts tracks. You could tell it was just a bunch of loudmouth ADD heads whose last NIN album was the Downward Spiral. Sometimes a lot of the people who are into NIN are such headbangers that they can't appreciate the group's musical diversity.
Yeah if he wanted to hear that old song. He should have gone home afterwards and pulled out his cassette player and popped in his Broken tape and listened to it.
I hate when people are stuck on older songs and just want to hear that stuff. Music changes so grow with the band dude. I listen and love all their stuff, old and new.
Though the dude was pretty cool, he was singing every single song, hahah:P but still.
I agree with both of your comments though, nine inch nails are extremly diverse with their music, they started out more industrial, and now, I can't put them into one genre, they are simply amazing, and trent reznor is a genius.
Haha. I think I'm the only one who went in dark blue jeans, a brown tank top, and a light blue hoodie over it. xD And my brothers friend came in a bright green hoodie. I don't think it really matters what you wear. But I have to admit, I did see a sea of black when I was around. Lots of goth/industrial inspired stuff, too.
I don't care, though, I was there to see Trent. :D
o man this was so amazing, i was didnt really want them to play head like a hole to early cuz i thought they would close with that, then i thought they would close with hurt and there were like 4 more songs after that
Setlist was hard to keep track of he played 27 songs including Hurt, Closer, Piggy, March of the pigs, discipline, gave up, an "Only" remix, survivalism, some instrumentals from Ghosts.... It was fuckin crazy

Me too, actually. I don't think I've ever seen him in red. It was a nice change. xD haha. I saw it and I was like, dude, Trent's in RED?
xxxxastrozombies 3 years ago
I think it has to do with the Lights in the Sky color scheme and theme of Slip. Red features a lot in the cover art and marketing materials.
Plus I think it's good that he did something different. It's kind of weird that people think that because you are into NIN you have to wear all black.
