  • Υeah, the Olympics were stopped in 393 AD. I don't blame Christianity for the actions some people did in the name of it, just like I don't blame any religion for the actions of specific people

Theodosius was a criminal for allowing all these persecutions against Dodekatheists under his reign. It's not just the end of the Olympics, a lot of temples and great treasures were destroyed that time because they were related with the old religion.

  • I love this video!! It practically has everything you need to know about the Olympics.By the way, can someone please tell me what piece of music this is? This is one of my favorites! I could listen to this for hours on end.

  • 4:05 393 AC

  • song?

  • I must point out something I saw. Around 4 minutes into the video, which is near the end of video, you said that in 393 BC, Theodosius I ended all non-Christian religions bringing an end into the Olympics. I don't know much about the validity of the claim of whether Christianity was to blame for the end of the Olympics, but I do know however, that Christianity didn't exist in 393 BC. In case you didn't know, BC stands for Before Christ. I'm confused about the meaning of your claim. Take care.

  • @elmachodeyewtewb I looked at other sources, the Games were ended in 393 AD.

  • Comment removed

  • @bryony63 It says that the games were ended in 393 AC. This leaves the reader confused as to whether he meant BC, or AD.

  • Lux Aeterna? I'll rate it down just for that.

  • An abundance of water is described with the word "vodi" in contemporary Macedonian language. The corresponding ancient Macedonian word for this is the word "vedy". The Greek archaeologist Aliki Stuyanaki in the periodical "Edesaika Hronika" (Edessa, may-august, 1972) advised that the Macedonian city of Voden, to which the Greeks gave the name "Edessa", was originally a Brygian city and its old name was Vedy which means abundance of water.

The name of the Ancient Macedonian city you change.

  • Becose you not understand it what is Vedy,Vodi!;)

He told them that no city was more hateful to the Greeks than Persepolis, the capital of the old kings of Persia, the city from which troops without number had poured forth, from which first Darius and then Xerxes had waged an unholy war on Europe. To appease the spirits of their forefathers they should wipe it out, he said.

This was, moreover, recognized by the managers of the Olympic games,. Alexander, however, proved his Argive descent, and so was accepted as a Greek and allowed to enter for the foot-race. He came in equal first." Herodotus book 5. 22.
