  • She popped up on Pandora. She has a new fan now. Going to go buy an album or two.

  • omg tihs song reminds me of my ex all the way

  • you cant please everybody. i still cant take my eyes off her

  • she's soo pretty

great follow up to "Why cant i"

    both are great songs!

  • i love this song.....

  • Still hate this song...LOVE Liz, and no I'm not a Guyville-And-EverythingElseSucks Fan, I love her first 3 records, Comeandgetit EP and her latest release of Funstyle because it's far more interesting than this Sheryl Crow / Michelle Branch crap...sorry to those whom like it but... check out Funstyle, there's one track called Satisfied that is Somebody's Miracle-esque but like the other songs on FS, it's more of a joke song.

  • Still Iove this song. She looks Like Meg Ryan.

  • @jnetd03

You mean how Meg Ryan used to look like? Yeah, I see it too.

Totally unrelated, but it's a shame what Meg Ryan did to her gorgeous face. The equation goes like this: too much money + no meaningful social relationships = "Hey, I feel like doing something retarded like fucking up the perfectly good face I was born with."

  • Beautiful song. I love it.

  • this song makes me cry every time i hear it bc it reminds me of my boyfriend who... well pretty much does everything in this song :'(

  • Am I gay or girlish for listening to this and likeing it at the same time?

  • it was never my favourite when she released this album in 05. but now i just fell in love with this song again!!!!! so touching. where has she gone these days? come back and give us more classics!

  • i find Liz Phair...Hot ^^

  • I love this song <33

  • she looks good wet

  • I'm a new Liz fan. I've only heard this song, HWC, Why Can't I?, Extraordinary, and Exile in Guyville. Good music is good music. It doesn't matter that she changed styles. Just as long as she continues to make good music, then I don't care. I hope she releases a new album soon...

  • she's so pretty

  • Honestly, I think Liz just grew up. She was young when she started in the business, but she's getting older now. As artists grow and change, so does their music. Don't chalk it up to "selling out". I agree I prefer her older stuff as well, but I loved this album, too. She's great in my opinion.

  • She has a nice image i wish she would continue with this kinda stuff.

  • Wow.... this is the only song EVER to sum up mine and my ex's relationship...

  • this song made me cry the first time i listened to it and still makes me upset !

  • I don't know why this song makes me cry everytime, even after these years. Ilove it and feel it.

  • It makes me want to cry because I wish she'd write songs like her old ones.

  • This track was produced by The Matrix. They're a producer group responsible for many pop singles from artists like Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson. Liz Phair hasn't "sold out" she just happened to work with producers that are known for cleaner arrangements and pop structure. Not my favorite stuff from her but she still rocks in my book.

  • whitechocolatespaceegg was the best album ever. inspired me so deeply as a writer.

guyville, whipsmart, and the former are three of the best record ever.

as for somebodys mriacle, they all sound like one long song, minus a few really good tracks ...

cant get out of what im into should NOT have been reserved for the japanese version~ it's from the girlysound, and we fans deserved somehting familiar after her selftitled!

  • Man, this is a long way from "Fuck and Run".

  • Yeah, it's like she matured or something...

  • Or sold out.

  • I just said the same thing—almost word for word—under another vid.

When i heard How Can I, and my jaw dropped. When i called it tame, some friends disagreed—citing the F bomb. I explained that it was fluff compared to her earlier stuff. Unfortunately, my copy of Guyville (all i'd previously known of her) had been ripped off by then, so i couldn't demonstrate.

A middle ground—with the sonic richness of her later stuff, and the depth and brutal honesty of her early stuff—would be cool.

  • Yeah, there isn't even a whiff of punk rock in this.

  • Some say that Liz has "sold out". I don't agree. I like all of her albums. "Whitechocolatespaceegg" is my favorite and this newer album "Somebody's Miracle" is a very strong effort in my opinion.

  • i agree.......Liz is great. and i've heard the "sold out" crap about other acts. examples are journey (with SP) and greenday.

the thing is.........it seems some get tagged with this when they become popular and are making "lots 'o cash"! it's bogus. becoming very popular doesn't mean someone has "sold out".

  • Agreed. I think sometimes people throw the accusation around just to make themselves sound cool. Yes, many times artists really do sell out, but not always. I believe that Liz is an example of someone who has simply matured. I love the sound her of 90s rock better, but the new material is good too (also more appropriate to listen to when my kids are in the car with me).

  • In the case of Journey (and many others) "selling out" is something that they were coerced into. The record company pushed them to get more commercial—including hiring Perry. The change of direction is what led Dunbar and Rolie to leave. After which, they became just another (albeit better than average) '80s pop band—which is far from what Schon and Rolie had in mind when they left Santana.

We don't resent their success. We lament that the flow of great tunage petered out. But oh well.

  • I learned this song on my guitar, I just haven't had chance to practice strumming in a while and learned how to sing along with the switching of the chords.

  • I like the Mature sound she has here.

  • dude. this song had me in tears. no lie.

  • I like the song, no sure about the MV thought.

  • i like the hair throws and those eyes

  • I LOVE her and her music!

  • i don't know what to say

  • this is like one her best songs EVER!

  • Hey buddy! Checkin out your faves, thanks for turning me on to Liz Phair. She flew under this old headbangers radar, what an amazing artist and personality. Your other fave "Why Can't I" was collabed with the same bunch who helps on Avril's tunes. You've heard about the 4-track cassettes Liz recorded in 91? She's reworked most of them I guess, but the originals are something I must hear! Your wise beyond your years. There's an amazing live performance of "Flower" on here. Peace.

  • You know, a lot of Liz's supposed "fans" have accused her of "going mellow" or "selling out" and I think that's ridiculous. What sort of artist would she be if she was doing the exact same thing she did with "Exile in Guyville?" Artists grow up, and that's what Liz did. She married, became a mother, went through a bad divorce. Life experiences color your perception, alter your priorities. Liz has grown up, it's about time some of her fans did the same. I've always loved Liz and always will.

  • oh Good Lord. She went from making real music on her own to making soul-less mass-produced cliches with cookie cutter hit makers. I bet she herself is more proud of the old stuff and laughs at who ever buys the new stuff.

  • Just because she is touching a different part of your soul, don't denegrate her newer music to being souless...

  • Fine. I just think it's dumb that hillbillyprofane implies her newer music is more mature and that's it's good because all her other albums were the same. First of all, she did not just make the same albums over and over - she certainly did progress after Exile. The music was technically better and less dumbed down for commercial audiences (her older stuff had classical guitar sometimes etc). The lyrics were more honest, more intellectual, and less generic.

  • @ananagram but what does it matter change is change. one attitude is another. it's all good music. maybe it is more mature, but what does it matter if you think it's good y should you care what other people think there's no point to dogging on her point of view is there? (honest question)

  • If you want to know why Liz started making more commercial popular music, listen to her song "Shitloads of Money"

  • @hillbillyprofane

the way you think of things is absolutely awesome! I agree with your statement.

  • @emmyrossum4568 Thank you, I appreciate that. I like Emmy Rossum as well, you have good taste! :)

  • @hillbillyprofane thank you! i'm glad you liked what I said I've been really ticked off at all the people that jump the gun as soon a someone changes. They dont give the change time to sink in and I'm glad there's at least one person out there who still waits, it's the better point of view. ^ ^

  • @emmyrossum4568 please, back off the "awesome" speak. If I want some, I'll ask for awe, some. Seriously, you are generalizing and you do not know the value of the critic, which is said to be the artist's best friend. Take care.

  • @Joeey

being a critic means to be able take the point of view so shove it!

  • @emmyrossum4568 You are so eloquent, you must be from the USA. You probably know of three novels and two of them are "Twilight." Is that Awesome, or what? !!!

  • @Joeey

you're an idiot, leave it at that...

  • @emmyrossum4568 OMG I looked at your profile and you actually have Twilight listed. !!!!! ha. OMG! You know, there really is a world out there with a lot of good film. Errmmm go look up "Interstella 555." Here you go, the complete film. Enjoy. youtube.com/watch?v=aQ5XOwiryv0

  • It's not that that she isnt doing the exact same thing she did with exile, it's that she is ripping off the LAMEST adult alternative modern rock. there's nothing to connect with. She sounds like the shit you here in the grocery store. It doesn't have her quirk. I guess it could be personal in the BANKABLE fact that all couples argue. I think whitechocolatespaceegg is a pretty good balance of pop music and her personality. This shit is FUCKING LAME, SON. Have fun in the music bin at kmart.

  • @evilwatchme I completely agree there is no risk in this music.

  • @hillbillyprofane

    > What sort of artist would she be if she was doing the exact same thing she did with "Exile in Guyville?"

The kind we respect for staying true to herself and not being a sellout.

    > Life experiences color your perception, alter your priorities.

So do contracts with riders that offer you lots of money to produce non-controversial content. Otherwise known as selling out.

  • Nothin' hotter than a chick that plays guitar!..yummy!..

  • Wow,

one of the two songs I like by her.

    The most amazing : )

  • This is such an amazing song. It really gets to the point of guys being jerks. Thanks for posting it!

  • oh jeez this is britney light. age sure has a way of softening you up, eh?

  • boognish, comparing LP to BS is one of the most misinformed, idiotic things i've read on youtube in a loooooooong time.

  • If you knew nothing of Liz Phair and saw this video for the first time, I think the average person would find the comparison is very valid. Based on her amazing past work this video and her recent work is just beyond depressing. She's become what she once hated.

  • It's a little extreme, but I agree with you compared to beavis4play.

  • This is a great song but it was really underplayed for some reason which is weird because it's one of her best songs she has out right now

  • My favorite song by her

  • liz rules the world

  • Liz is so hot when she's wet in this vid. HHHOOOTTT!!!

  • liz is hot anytime. and a great singer who actually writes her songs.

  • dude its a free country i can post whatever i want

  • at least she doesnt go by the name of "Pink Sparkle Star"

  • so get off your ass and write some songs for the independent lovers out there..go on tour...start to become popular and see how long you can last out playing just for the small masses that loved you originally. Like everything in life...nothing lasts forever...if you were a real fan you'd be listening to the words...she's still there.

  • goddamit sold out

sounds like every song on the hills (bleeeah!)

liz phair early work was just awesome, this sucks :/

  • i LOVE this song!

  • her writing definitely got a lot more formulaic since she started.

  • this is exactly how my ex made me feel

  • Why would you post something like that on YouTube. No one cares.
