Well. This reminds me of German Satire. Which, surprisingly, is a compliment, because German Satire often consists of just skillfully and interlaced with humor stating the truth so bluntly that it pains the audience once it realizes that, while it is kind of funny, it's quite true and terrible. I can see some skill, and some humor, and some truth, but I find it a bit lacking in all departments. Overall it's not bad though.

Your assumption that the only alternative to generic humor is political humor is very flawed. Political humor is actually held by a lower standard. The fact that someone in the audience recognizes what your talking about makes them feel smart, and they want to let others know that they know what your talking about.....thus token laughs.
He didn't actually say that polical humor is the ONLY alternative to mainstream.
Also, politcal humour is not 'held to lower standards'.
Although, if it were, political humorists still have it much tougher since they constantly need to be writing new material as their jokes generally have a much shorter shelf-life.
Of what I've seen, I respect this man's comedy quite a bit.

I hope this is not used to imply that other peoples are good by default. The only thing this proves is that we enjoy the freedom of speech to say unpopular things (at least for now), even if they aren't really funny. Take George Carlins advice about humor. You have to have a casual, but outlandish exaggeration to make it funny.
