@bigdwiz Thank you sir :) Mostly vintage stuff but I like the old stuff as you can tell :) Squeezebox is the only new piece I've got. My amp and pre are from the early-mid 80's and my DAC sitting below the squeezebox is from 1999 or 2000 so its not quite 'vintage' but for a DAC, maybe we can consider it so. Speakers are built from early 90's parts too. I'm stuck in the past :)
@cumesoftware Well, yes you're right, but I guess I mean to be as transparent as possible :) So far from all the speakers I've listened to, the one I liked most is the Thiel CS3.7 followed by the PMC EB1 and for something more affordable, the Spendor S5e, but I guess any speaker regardless of what it is, adds considerable coloration. I remember reading that most people worry much about distortion in their electronics, but even good speakers can add distortion(s) upwards of 10 percent or more.
@cumesoftware I couldnt agree more. It has to sound very convincing. If you close your eyes, it has to feel and sound real. Has to be immersive and I think the only way that happens is when it is ineed quite accurate. I have not quite reached that level with these speakers but a bit more tweaking and I hope to be getting there :)
@cumesoftware That is exactly them :) I'm very happy so far. The only thing I have to do is a slight bit more of baffle step compensation and to adjust the tuning frequency of the cabinet just a tad after the drivers are fully broken in (I'll remeasure the specs and adjust). So far I'm very impressed with these drivers. Very easy and relaxed but not muted or lacking detail. Its not the be all and end all of reslution but its IMO as good as my Vifa P17WJ for midrange without any doubt.
I can recommend purchasing a Samson ZOOM Q3HD for some good quality video and great studio quality stereo hi-fi audio recordings.
Those of us who have decent sounding speaker systems connected to the internet will appreciate the next best thing to being there in your listening room.
@theaudiophilestore I was thinking, for my testing I have picked up a behringer calibrated microphone. Its mono but I'm sure the sound quality is good. I should put that through my USB soundcard (decent one) and see how it will record. Might be worth while trying that. The only issue is that I will have to deal with seperate audio and video tracks.
@svtcontour :) Well its a 3cf cabinet vented cabinet but with the bracing, driver volumes, sound dampening and all that, its probably about 2.6cf internally and its tuned to 35Hz. The cabinet is 3/4" MDF for all sides but the front which is two 5/8" pieces bonded together so its a little thicker.
@theaudiophilestore Well blue might be interesting, but I'll skip the red because my previous speaker (well I still have them) are Usher S520 bookshelfs in gloss red :)
What would you think of a dark graphite colour - with gloss clear on top of it? I think that might also look neat.
@svtcontour . . . That would be a nice atypical color for your speakers (merlinmusicDOTcom/images/ChmpVSM1.jpg). I forgot all about your red Usher speakers. lol
Nice setup you have there!

I meant "What type of enclosure is it?" Sorry, should have been more concise :P

Definitely Black!!!

@Sirflatch Ok so gloss black. We have one vote for black :) I've always been intrigued by gloss white but nobody seems to like that. LOL.

@svtcontour . . . My vote is for gloss candy apple red or gloss shelby racing blue!
Gloss black is nice, but way too common, not to mention will show up every grain of dust, smudge, or scuff.

Uuugh. Compression artifacts on the sound. LOL well I guess it will happen at lower bitrates. Maybe I will stop watching it at 240p :)
