  • Freddie was always distinguish, and elegant in his style. I love him here, He had charm, cause his personality and charisma. You see him, you just can`t help it to love him

That recording year with Monserrat Caballè, gave him lots of strengh to carry on. H e could not tour he could not live perform as he used to, so these live performance next to her, gave him the possibility and joy of doing something different and beauty, unexpected by a rock audience but very much loved and liked for them

  • Caballe is a pip, I love her.

  • Funny the way TV journalist in the beginning pronounced the Caballe like a turkish Kebbab or something :D Should be like "Ca-bah-yee" Definetly strong "y" instead of "LL". Anyway, the interview was too bad quality, for my foreigner ear ;), couldnt catch much of it.

  • when we were young in the 70s we use to say to each other Freddy had a opera sound to his music.

  • I hate the fact that the media never took Freddie Mercury seriously! I also hate this reporter for 1. Getting montsy's surname wrong and 2. Calling them the odd couple. At least he's doing something original! Arsehole media -.-

  • @Gleekazoid46 In my opinion the media were afraid of Freddie. Like Caballe said Freddie hid his greatness of composing. The man was a musical genius. Yet the media never inquired nor promoted his genius. I count a minimum of 8 genres Freddie could sing and he sang every genre with perfection, with no training. I don't know of another singer who can do that. Freddie also composed music in those genres.

  • the critics are losers who are jealous that they are not amazing famous and have tons of talent and people who admire them

  • @BananaSandwich1 Yes but remember there are people out there with tons of talent and amazing voices who choose not to be famous... Its very easy to understand why because it is a very goldfish bowl type life, no privacy at all, constantly hassled, and spyed on. Horrific life indeed.

  • Freddie's face was so funny when he heard "How Can I Go On". He was so nice and he was always so moddest about his singing but he was lovely.

  • God I feel so sad for him here. He seems to have something in his mind that has him preoccupied.

  • @fairyfellermaster its that he has aids...im sure hes worried sick bout it

  • @jumpyjedi yeah he's being brave about it. So sad

  • unincorporated1 ... Please read any of the biography's on Freddie and you will find that he never had vocal lessons, ever. He had piano lessons to the age of nine. Give credit where it is due, to the natural affinity to music that was Freddies.

  • My husband looks so handsome clean shaven.

  • Freddie was a classically trained opera singer and an amazing human being... R.I.P My friend!

  • @unincorporated1 lol no he weren't, but he was awesome though

  • Beautiful, talented, kind can never be replaced.

  • Also, till we meet again and that included Joan.

  • They were the perfect couple not a odd couple. I hate the media.

  • absolutely agree!! Montsy became a very close friend and she would never have spilled the beans, her english is not very good but she was praising his talent. Freddie probably looks uncomfortable beacuase of this and the fact that there are so many people around!!!! He sought Monsty out and admired and respected her he would never have confided in her about his illness if he didn't trust her and she never spoke of it until after he died! Coming from two different worlds the combination sublime!

  • I watch this video and think wow, the powerful strong voice I hear singing in the background is coming from this quite man sitting at the table.

Freddie had so much more to do and we will never understand. RIP Freddie.

  • @Yo1969Yo Your right., Everyone said that Freddie was so quiet in real life. Even Freddie himself said that people would be afraid to approach him when he's off stage because he thinks they think he might eat them up and he's nothing like that.

  • I look at this video and I hear Freddie's singing in the background and I think wow, the powerful strong voice that you hear is coming from this man who is sitting at the table.

Freddie had so much more to do and we will never understand. RIP Freddie.

  • I dont think she was about to spill the beans in regards of his sickness...she was admiring his talent as a writer, and she was hinting out how he hides much of his creativity behind a band instead of having a solo career beyond Rock music...she apologizes to him as a sign of respect for what he does and voicing her opinion Highly on how talented he is...bringing up the fact hes sick at any point of that small piece of the interview wouldnt of made sense..<3 I STILL LOVE U FREDDIE <3

  • I think Freddie was a tiny bit hurt when Montserat Caballe said that he was hiding his talent for opera.

  • @Carbon657 His creativity in music i mean,Freddie looked slightly unhappy with that comment.

  • Kaballee?? What the fuck?

  • People always try to twist things! WTF!?

She's talking about the fucking MUSIC and how talented he is to be able to incorporate OPERA into his musical abilities. He's a rock star and is known for making ROCK hits, how many ROCK STARS can say that they have sang OPERA among one of the world's best Opera singers in Montserrat Caballe?

Freddie Mercury is a LEGEND, he was a LEGEND way before he died. Fuck it, the man was BORN a legend! And that's all you need to know.

  • @Robin360 Great comment!

  • I don't know what it was, but this video made me cry. There was certainly a very special bond between Freddie and Montserrat. The words she said here about Freddie were so beautiful.

  • He basically went into hiding, near the end of his life, due to his sickness.

  • why it cuts, where is the other video?

  • I'm fairly sure it's October 1988.

It's the launch party for the 'Barcelona' album at Covent Garden (you can hear an album track playing in the background).

They'd just performed at the 'La Nit Festival' in Barcelona, which was 8th Oct.1988.

  • "They'd just performed at the 'La Nit Festival' in Barcelona, which was 8th Oct.1988. " Which I think was Freddie's last ever live performance without the other members of Queen. :(

  • Yeah why does Freddie say "It's because I'm hiding it"

  • What did she say at 1:22 ? Something like "very strong behind and I know why (!)and excuse me that I say that". He immediately became so nervous. Oh, poor Freddie.

  • montsy said that freddie hides his creativity so well, that he's very timid about it ... meaning that freddie is so modest about his talent ...

  • freddie became i wouldn't say nervous, but more shy, because montsy was praising him, and his talent as a composer ...

  • Montserrat has violated his private wish because he wanted only close friends to know about his disease..and Montserrat almost tell the media about his ilness....sad :(....by the way anybody knows in wich year was this interview?1987?1988?thanks..

  • what exactly are you talking about ??

  • I am saying that Freddie wants only close friends to know abou the disease and Montserrat almost tell to the media that he had aids...that why it was very shy...not because he hide creativity of his talent...

  • not at all, montsy never was about to speak of any such thing ...

freddie gets all shy because she is speaking very highly of him, and of what an incredible composer he is ...

she was bragging of how wonderful he is ...

  • he's shy :)

  • bless him, he's so sweet

  • he's not, he's just feels uncomfortable with strangers

  • Great little piece this, shame Freddie was already looking frail at the onset of his illness but the brave side of him was willing to carry on without being a martyr. True brilliance!

  • i don't think freddie looks frail at all ...

i think he looks very handsome and well ...

  • Фреди!! I love you!!!!!!

  • "Cabarlay" What an idiot! Good interview.

  • Hahaha, I know...I just heard it and I was like...what? Cabarlay???? Very bad indeed...

  • sorry to tell you, but he said it correctly ...

  • Great! Now in color!!

  • Wow excelent video I love him and she is so cute hehe she´s right The musicians understand each other Ahh thank u for the video!!
