I loved this episode, partly because, within the limits of Prime Time, it was uncensored (SOB, ass, prick) and sometimes it’s better not to bowdlerize. Partly it’s because of his reconciliation with God (Her ghost doesn’t exonerate Him; Bartlett himself does). Finally, he felt guilt at not standing up to his father about the women’s salaries. This is his redemption; she reminds him to go for it.
Why isn't there anything on network tv that even comes close to the quality show The West Wing was. Whether you believed in its politics or not, the writing, the acting, and the directing were extraordinary.
@Kaalec Most networks want cheap-ass shows like The X Factor, Jersey Shore, Survivor and the like, so decent shows like this, Sports Night, Studio 60 on Sunset strip, Firefly (and the like) get cancelled, or moved around so many times nobody can find them to watch.
@Hobbes1025 "Reality" TV which is actually no more real than the Flintstones is killing broadcast TV. Now the only place where you can find anything even remotely interesting is on cable. You are right on in your analysis.
I've read conflicting things as to whether Obama has to power to grant clemency to Troy Davis for crimes committed against the State of Georgia but not against the Federal Government.
Quite frankly, I don't care.
All I do know is that Gerald Ford was able to pardon Nixon in advance for crimes they hadn't even found out about yet, no matter what they were. And even that was not seriously challenged
When he talks, people listen, and things happen. He chose not to speak.
You have to admit, he does have a point... He is pretty powerless.
I mean, it's not even as if the the current President can hold off the State of Georgia from killing a man with a clearly unsafe conviction against him, not even long enough to give him one more day in court to present new evidence. Not even for one day, not even worth even picking up the phone.
It's not even like anyone would pay him any attention. Plus, they have the same colour skin, what would Fox News think of him?
It's cool when old people come back from the dead to give the hero sage advice to help him win. Kinda like Obi-Wan.

The shot of the rain hitting his shirt and his facial expression are simply brilliant.

I always love that Charlie takes his coat off, figuring that if the President isn't wearing one, he isn't either.

Brilliant. Only Sorkin would do something as bold as bring in Mrs. Landingham for this.

The ending is a little too dramatic. But I love their conversation.
"God doesn't make cars crash and you know it. Stop using me as an excuse."
Sooo true.
