  • Thanks so much! I was sick of the exposure flickering problem with my vids but this should solve it now. (:

  • Thank you so much, this is what I've been looking for!!!

  • Hey... That's really cool! Thanks for teaching me =)

  • please help!

how do i make my video auto-focus during a video, like, if i moved, it would follow me. and how do i make it HD on youtube? i've used it in my videos, and they are all pixelated and weird.

  • I was wondering what that button was for haha thanks.

  • *tears of joy* Thank you!! Thank you so much!

  • thanks so much for the tip! GREAT help!!

  • very informative thanks!

  • Damn, you are my saver :) I didn't damn know how it works :) now, i know what it is. I have an question for Manual Autofocusing. When I turn on Manual Autofocusing, i see the crack line on (top-center) and (center - center) view points only. But when i choose others side of autofocusing, that line doesn't show at all. Is that normal?

  • thank you for this! how do you manually expose the video on D5000? is it me or does changing the shutter speed/aperture not alter the exposer when using livemode/video? please write back! thank you!

  • Thanks a lot man, really!

  • Awesome. I've had my D5000 for a while now and was wondering how to do this.

  • thank u maaaaaan

  • nice info thanks :D

  • nice...

  • DUDE, you're a natural at this. DONT STOP BELIEVINGGGG'.

  • Thank You!

  • Are you using a microphone?

The microphone off my D5000, fkn SUCKS!

  • when you were talking the camera, did you record the audio seperately?

  • @Weegie247 yes i was wondering ,

cuz the sound recording system of the nikon d5000 is really bad

though it is a gr8 cam

  • Thank you so much man; I've been considering using this camera to make some short films (and possibly a feature somewhere down the road), but the exposure was really making me cautious about using it. Now that I know how to set it so it doesn't change, I can worry about other stuff...like grain that seems to appear in my video even though it's well lit...any suggestions on that? :P

  • Thanks you so much for this information! Great presentation, too!

  • i have a question to ask? does this camera allow u to focus when you bring things up close while filming? if it does.. PLEASE teach me!!!!!!!!!!! i been dying to know.. and one last things how do you change you focus to another.. for example like shooting one things that is close to you and then shooting the background and fading the things that you were shooting early????

  • @bliaxiong09 u have to unlock the focus switch and you must focus manually while shooting video,

  • @bliaxiong09 that depends on your lens, and when you shoot videos, make sure your lens is on manual.

  • muchas gracias muchacho!

  • awesome tip man.. deffs b using tht exposure hold setting from now on. like

  • really really helpful, but i thought that it's a bad thing to lock the exposure, i mean like the test shot u took at the end, when the camera was panning and the window appears, i couldn't see anything in the window cuz it was so bright,

isn't this a bad thing or this looks more professional

or do u recommend locking the exposure like this or use this function only in some situations ?

i'm sorry for those question but i'm a newbie and i wanna learn everything :D

    thanks :)

  • Hi. I knew this, and I'm using it all the time, I also dislike the ligtflickering. The problem is I also like the other setting when I take still pictures (AF/AE) so when I shoot video I sometimes have the wrong setting and the exposure didn't lock!

Any tips how to get around this?

  • very usefull.. didnt know about this. I have my D5000 for half a year now, but i haven't been testing out everything yet. It's a bit confusing for me because there are soooo many options.. Thnx!

  • Thanks a bunch, Would love to see more tips and tricks!

  • thanks a lot, i know it now.

  • Sweet thanks man, I've been having troubles figuring that out for use on equatorial panoramas, gonna really speedup my workflow. Less work in post! I'll also add if your shooting stills you can tell if your exposure lock is on or not by seeing if the metering mode icon is grayed out, if it is exposure is locked.

  • ty, very convenient :P

  • thank you so much!!!!

  • Omg, wow! I have been looking for a solution to this for weeks! Thank you Zach!!

  • THX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you for doing this video! I was getting irritated when D5000 videos transition with blurriness, now with this tip, I can have a steady video.

  • Oooh, this helps! Thank you. :) - Hayleigh.

  • Very good video, I have to try this soon. didn't know how to get the function to work.

  • Man, is it possible to adjust the exposition? Maybe with EV compensation? I don't know if you get what I mean...

If so, would you do a video to show how it works?

    thanks!

  • As I said.

    Thank you.

Now, I just need to buy this baby hahaha

  • Excellent information, I did´t know how to do that, thanks!

  • Np! Thanks for your support!

  • @zacharybeschler Good stuff mate some the menu nomenclature is not all that intuitive. Cheers for showing how to set this up.

I do have a simple (I hope) question. When does the 'latch' or 'hold' (Nikon's term) release? Is it when you stop recording a vid or perhaps after you snap a pic if you're taking stills?

    Many thanks!

  • THAAAANNNNNNNNKKKKKSSSSS!!!!!!

  • No problem! Glad I could help :)
