Bow of the boat should go to the back as they have it. Otherwise the turbulent air coming off the square stern end messes up the airflow over the tail surfaces, which could lead to loss of control
what hes using is correct cross wind technique, the winds coming from the left hes keeping the left wing down as he should it was a nice take off for a heavy beaver the boat will make a small difference but not overly much
maybe the extra drag on the left side caused by the boat. Lowered the drag to lift ratio on the left side. that's what it looked like to me but I'm not a pilot. I would like to know if he had to compensate by aileron right for the whole flight?
@rawnukles I am not a pilot IRL, but I believe that the DHC2 has a aileron trim, which would effectively compensate for any imbalance such as that, or having a fat guy in one of the seats, which would also make aircraft have off center of balance.
My Grandpa worked for OPAS (MNR) and flew beavers for 33 years! (27 on Piston, 6 on Turbos). I'm not leaving this planet till I get my hands on a Piston and Turbo beaver.

I'd think they'd point the pointy end of the boat forward...

Maybe the boat cud have been mounted on the right side with bow to the front.
I met ontario MNR pilots august 2011 at Petawawa. They seemed to know what they were doing. Guess my technician stripes were not showing.!

That should have been "Crosswind take off in wind shear with big-ass piece of drag on left side"!
