It was based on Reagan and the far-right nuts who cheered all of his destructive policies. The film included Reagan-Bush's Iran/ Contra scandals. But it may as well have been a sneak-peek to George W. Bush, Dan Quayle, Sarah Palin and the tea-psychos. Somehow, this film succeeded in being funny as well as creating a far-right Dylan-like singing candidate. This film should be re-released in these times of apathy and rising tea-nuts.

Just saw the movie again recently (it's from '92) and was amazed on how accurate it reflected and satirized the current political landscape. The clip's in bad quality, though, but nonetheless, 5 stars!

Me too ... pushing, I mean. Also, I searched for the sundtrack (Songs are originally written by Tim Robbins & his brother) and noticed that Robbins made it a part of his contract that the songs were NOT to be published on the soundtrack. When asked about it, he said something like he never wanted to hear them out of the context of movie. No surprise, actually, when you think about sonething like this:

Robbins was apparently afraid that some naive little Hannity lover would think these songs were serious, and start singing them in the shower. He is not far wrong. All these guys are parodies of themselves. For a good laugh, look up "cynnful," watch a couple of her videos, and check out some of the mindless comments from these Jack Black style Gulianni groupies.
