If you read Achtung Panzer it emphasized on the invention of tanks as the defeat of the German forces. While it contributed greatly, it was the sole element. The naval blockade did hurt Germany, but remember that in WW I, Germany still had the Rhineland and technology was significantly different.

If you read Achtung Panzer it emphasized on the invention of tanks as the defeat of the German forces. While it contributed greatly, it was the sole element. The naval blockade did hurt Germany, but remember that in WW I, Germany still had the Rhineland and technology was significantly different.
Regardless, it is a little known fact that Britain had the first concentration camp and while the scale differs, the proportions make Germany's crimes seem amateurish.

Don't try and brush it off by saying the camps were badly run, they knew what they were doing. They couldn't defeat the Boers because of the guerilla tactics they used, so they resorted to this instead.

France and Britain would have continued to be pushed back if the US hadn't joined, up until that they were losing. I wouldn't call sending 4 million troops "hardly anything".

My great grandfather was a cousin of President Paul Kruger. His first wife and their two children died in these camps.......He remarried after the war and my grandmother, who is still alive today (almost 103) was one of the 10 children born to the second marriage.

Though you miss the point entirely as the concentration camps did not wipe out those other peoples while the concentration camps in Southern Africa came close to wiping out the Boers [ not Afrikaners ] & did kill 50 % of the Boer child population. Furthermore the camps had no affect on the Afrikaners [ most of whom were fighting for the British & AGAINST the Boers ] as the camps affected the Boer Nation.

The fact that so many Boer children were killed had far reaching effects on the Boer Nation to the point that they were effectively dominated by the Cape based Afrikaners once the macro state of South Africa was imposed & ever since. Had not so many children died: the Boers could have been at least 3 times more numerous today in numbers on par with the major local Bantu nations & would certainly be in a better condition to struggle to regain their stolen self determination.

When the British PEOPLE found out what their Colonial regimes were doing to the Boers in the concentration camps - the conditions of the camps soon improved. So this commemoration of this tragic part of Boer history is not meant to attack the English PEOPLE but to point out that a significant portion of the Boer people perished as a result of the British Empire's conquest of the region.

AaronPro. The concentration camps might have began as camps to collect the Boer civilians after their homes & farms were destroyed by the British BUT those camps soon turned into death camps as the cold & flooded areas they were located on soon lead to serious illness which killed close to half of the total Boer child population. Do not forget also that the British put ground up glass / hooks & razors into their rations.

Hi AaronPro, I put this video up here. Did you know that 50% (24,000) of our TOTAL Child population was killed by the British. W
