  • The peculiar majesty of massed trombones .......

  • im glad to finally hear him play! he's coming to my high school to play for our jazz band and teach them somethings. best person to come out of my high school!

  • I first heard Jiggs in 1963 playing w/ Rick Kiffer's big band. I was 17. I'm 66 and still listening to him play good stuff never.

  • Right mp40, Jiggs ain't Urbie, and he wouldn't wannna be.

Urbie is one of the best ever at beautiful, melodious playing, but Jiggs plays that stuff just as well, and is much more inventive.

  • I probably listened to this album a thousand times. Jiggs nails it!

  • I grew up on Urbie Green, sorry folks Jiggs ain't Urbie.

  • Very nicely done. Good balance and fine trombone playing by all. Great soloist.

  • the most beautiful tone i've ever heard

  • Its amazing that after 25 years in this business I can still be awestruck by the "magic" that can happen when you get the right bunch of cats together . The guitar player's no Tony Mattola though.

  • Absolutely one of my favorite songs.beautifully done .

  • from now on i will have beautiful dreams!!! best solo ever!!!

  • I am swooning!

  • the lead out of the 20 behind him plays out too much. it takes away from jiggs' solo

  • @rdm9313 No he doesn't

  • i love this video, and as an aspiring trombonist, i dream to have this sound.

  • Glenn Miller is grinning ear to ear right now!!!!!! You can bet your life on it!!!!

  • When I started studying trombone in 1967, the Urbie Green LPs were out, and I listened to them a lot. This is a wonderful tribute, and a brilliant piece on its own. And the added bonus for me, the last few bars of this, the ending phrase, have been in my head off and on for the last 43 years. What a joy to hear this again.

  • I knew bones provided a sound background, but I did not realize that they are a complete orchestra until now!

  • i'm sure, a guitar solo is what the people at slide factory wanted to hear... ;-D

  • As I have sad before: The Trombone, truly Gods insurment.

  • Jiggs is right on the mark with this tribute. I fortunately stumbled across this album 25 yrs ago and definitely was an inspiration. This is a respectful and flawless performance from one of the greatest trombonists paying homage to another.

  • SIMPLY DIVINE! What a performance. WOW!!

  • wow, he is really good. love the trombone. fun to play, especially in jazz.

  • Lovely trombone sound! Superb performance from one of the greatest musicians in the world!

  • once more proven that nothing can beat the trombone.

    this is amazing

  • faltou eu

    I am like trombon

  • Simplesmente adorável. Jiggs Wigham é espetacular!

  • very nice , my favorite player

  • Excelente Arranjo, som aveludado tanto no solo como nas harmonias.

    muito bom mesmo!!

  • The ultimate blend of flesh and brass!

    Al

  • I'm going to come at this from another angle: tasteful and fantastic arrangement! Especially from the point of view that it is so easy to overwrite the bass lines as to muddy up the lower textures (keep the spacings open). Whoever wrote this was very considered and knew exactly what they were doing. Oh, great bone playing, too!

  • fabulous!!!

  • Gorgeus playing. How the trombone should sound

  • Wow!

  • dulce dulce dulceee.....q lindo sonido...llega al alma...

  • i was at the Eau Claire jazz festival as well, but i got to go backstage later and meet him face to face...it was awesome

  • So, it's taken THIS performance by Jiggs to wise me up that I need a trombone playlist -with HIS name on it !! ! Music this smooth could make the camel pass thru the eye of a needle! Greatest music this side of heaven ! ! ! ! ! As earlier said, Jiggs' high notes are beyond masterful. I am choked up by the beauty of this !!!!!

  • This was not only enlightening to me, but also an education!.

Who would have ever thought about if this would have ever worked well or not!... I enjoyed it a lot

  • Beautiful!!!

  • Still.... how good Jiggs' performance is... is doesn't beat the Master who recorded it orginally, and whose solo is copied (almost literally) by Jigg: Urbie Green!

  • Lieber Jiggs, neben deiner fast schon unheimlichen Musikalität besitzt du die größte Motivationskraft aller Posaunisten!!!

Mit lieben Grüßen Gerald Franz Juritsch

  • ...if only politicians had this kind of speech...we would believe them, wouldn't we ?...

  • HOW SWEET!

  • I saw Jiggs at the Eau Claire Jazz Festival this past year. He is simply amazing!!!

  • Out of interest does anyone know what instrument he is playing on? Is it a King 3B?

  • 2b jiggs whigham model. i have one and they are great for lead

  • Twenty bones! It sounds like a big band. I don't miss the trumpet or the saxes; and I do understand its concept. The concert should be turned into an album. Jiggs is fantastic, and is was the arrangement.

  • @jpear1y It's a tribute to the Urdbie Green 20 Trombones album

  • @jpear1y It is an album. This is all taken from Urbie Greens Umpteen Trombones. Not to mention Urbie plays better than all of these cats imitating him.

  • @jpear1y It's based on Urbie Green's album 21 Trombones from the '70s. All of the arrangements from this concert are from that album! Check it out. Seriously.

  • He even does Urbie's ad libs! Flawless.

  • Simply one of my favorite videos on Youtube. This video demonstrates how beautiful the trombone can sound.

  • Beautiful playing Jiggs! I know Urbie would be happy with that.

  • Jiggs is the man... plain and simple...

  • Jiggs has fantastic range.

His super Bb at 2:45 is amazing.

That whole section from 2:35-2:54 is the best part.

    :::::)))))

  • No doubt. Simply the best. Wish I could perform half as good!!!

    Al Hines

  • Absolutely wonderful playing. Thanks for posting!

  • nice pure sound, and good articulations

  • Wow. What a beautiful tribute to Urbie Green. Great stuff. Thanks Jiggs.

  • Jiggs is a fiend.. top class jazz trombonist.

  • wow incredible !!!! beautifull bones i love them all !!!

  • Bravo

  • Wonderful, Jiggs...! Like vintage wine.

  • sweet!

  • All these postings with MN,BvL,JW are off course good music as for the classical JvR & BA. Sure they are the best. Nevertheless I hope that the line up from Slidefactory '10would be a little different from '09 Tromboneplayers like Wolter Wierbos, Ray Anderson, Ryan Snow, Chris Chrensaw would bring other dimensions into the NTC. Instead of to much the same guys and the same sound each year. Wouldn't it be a challenge for the NTC to improvise without paper with Ray Anderson? greetings Jasper

  • Jigss is da bro!
