I Need some help trying to put this android on my tmobile wing. Can some one help me or guide me because i really want this on my wing. I have tried several time to follow the install instructions but maybe there is something im missing. PLEASE HELP!!!
I STILL marvel at this -- I've been a huge fan over at XDA -- just the sheer audacity of "never mind that no one has run linux on a T-Mobile Wing", then never mind that no one had run Android on a windows mobile phone. I just love the spirit that represents -- hearing someone say (AS MANY DID AT XDA!) "that's impossible" -- then to see you do it.
Inspiring.
Meanwhile, I am now retiring my Wing and Windows Mobile. I have the HTC Hero and there's no comparison.
You are frikkin' amazing man. I've been following your moves at XDA... To the public: This project was DEAD and LAUGHED AT by many pro-grade hackers of WindowsMobile devices. And then Darkstar showed up and assessed where the project was, what needed to be done. And amidst all sorts of negative chatter about "you'll never get Linux to run on that hardware", sure enough they built drivers, and even booted Android native. Amazing work. Keep it up!
I was trying 0.4pre1 in my TMo Wing, I have to tell you, the interface looks awesome! I "filed" a bug up there @xda-devs. By the way, I'm xda-dude up there...
Well, count me in as a tester(as long as the testing process doesn't screw the phone up :D ). I'll be receiving a TmoWing next week that I bought off 3b4y, so you can count on it!
Hello, Darkstar6262, I was wondering whether you're on your own in this project, or you have some backup from any other developer. I would wholeheartedly help you out if I could code :(
I'm primary on the project, but I've got a few other developers helping out -- plus a slew of testers. That being said, I'm always looking for help, especially on kernel development. :)
That's fast? I guess I don't know how fast it is relative to other boots. For what it's worth, that wasn't a brand new fresh boot -- it booted in before. First boot is MUCH slower.
It's getting there. We've got keyboard/touchscreen working. Still missing a lot though, like GSM/WIFI/Bluetooth and sound. But it's a work in progress.
I like it well enough. Check around, see what other people say about it. Personally, I use it for everything, like a pocket laptop. Throw in a 16gb microSD card and it's one sweet phone. IMHO.

Hello, darkstar6262,
Does the Wing support MicroSDHC memories?
vidzrfun 2 years ago
Yes it does -- up to 32gb (I've got a 16gb card in mine).

I'm excited about this project. Woot! Keep up the good work! Count me in your list of donors when this is ready! :)

does the data and cellular connection works with the newest product?
Philc7753 2 years ago
Not yet -- driver support for it still needs to be developed. Check out our website for the latest status.

i hope you guys get everything working asap :)
could you be about to do a how to install this? like a tutorial ?
Philc7753 2 years ago
Actually, we just put out a new development release today. The installation instructions are simple:
1. Download the file to your phone
2. Unzip it
3. Copy the files in the unzipped wing-linux-0.3pre3 directory to /Storage Card/linux (just the files, not the directory too)
4. Run HaRET from there
5. Follow the on-screen instructions
You'll need at least 364mb of free space on your card.
