There are quotes from people who aren't socialists who say similar things. For an example, Benjamin Franklin said, "A life of leisure and a life of laziness are two things. There will be sleeping enough in the grave," which is similar to the Norman Thomas quote. So, if Sotomayor wanted that theme, why didn't she chose the socialist leader's over the founding father's?
