@HowieP The reason muppet musicians are left-handed is because the performers were right-handed and needed the right hand to work the head and mouth. Therefore, the left hand became the strumming hand.
@HowieP but jim didnt play either of them those were jerry nelson as floyd and richard hunt as janice, in the electric mayhem, jim played dr. teeth but yea i've noticed that a lot too lol
2, all the Muppets are left-handed when they play Guitar or Bass because the Muppeteer was probably Right-Handed so they used their right hand to control the head and mouth and used the left hand to control the hands, which makes the Muppets Left Handed
@wolfpat The original writer/musicians based Janis on the guitar playing singer Joni Mitchell who played a Les Paul guitar. Later writers and replacement puppeteers may not have known that historical connection. Good ear and eye to pick out the difference - thumbs up. My husband is a guitar player and has a Les Paul and a Stratocaster as well as a few others - I had to agree that several guitars was not too many, after he played them all for me once, I could really hear the differences.
Much as I absolutely adore Janice, I must admit I like Gonzo's version of this song more. In all fairness though this one is done straight forward while Gonzo's is played for laughs.
but i think janice is a cute woman! i think her vioce make her a specially character, however she has a manly voice but i like her just with this voice and i can believe she's female and of course a lovely one
Yes, in fact most of the Muppets were left-handed simply because the puppeteers themselves were right handed. Their "good" hand (usually the right hand) was used to operate the mouth, so the other hand was used to perform the muppet's main hand actions.
If you think that's weird about Janice, you're going to be so shocked when you find out about Miss Piggy. She's definitely all woman. Pig. Woman-pig. it doesn't matter what gender the actors/puppeteers are, just their characters.
Not really weird.... there just wasn't that many women in the company. In fact her initial artist Eren Ozker was the only female cast member at the time she joined and no one to replace her when she left.
it's an understandable observation - really didnt deserve 6 thumbs down... she was voiced by rishard hunt and originally planned to be a male - the first sketch before Janice came into fruition was the muppet being a satire of Mick Jagger - later in tailoring, they made the muppet into a female.

Jim Henson must have been left-handed because all the Muppet characters play left-handed guitar and/or bass.

Janice is playing a Les Paul, but the sound is clearly a Telecaster. What's up with that?

Whoops! I guess what I said might be considered offensive to transgendered people.
What I meant is the character of Janice is a biological female in response to the person who said she was a "transsexual".
The character of Janice is not, and has never been a transgendered character.
No offense to actual transgendered people out there!

No. Janice is a woman, but she is voiced by a man. A legendary muppeter "Richard Hunt" He may rest in peace.

youngrebels75 3 years ago 5
But then, of course, you have to remember that MISS PIGGY has always been played by a man as well.
(She was played by Frank Oz for a long time, and then Eric Jacobson took over her--and all of Oz's other characters--a few years ago.)

I always thought he was her Old Man, and she was his Old Lady. :-) Even as a kid, I figured they were an item.
