God this takes me back - Saturday mornings, waiting for kids tv to start and lsitening to this wondeful music. Would bring a tear to a glass eye. Not heard this for years. Brilliant!
Eezlewax's remark about middle 'England' reminds me of the opening night of Radio Clyde. After I'd hosted the very first programme (on Hogmanay from 10.30pm - 2am), I was the only person in the building who could operate the switchboard, and so I was stuck there until dawn! Round about 3am some guy rings and says "Who was the English b***ar* who presented the first programme?" My reply? "That was me. I'm 100% Scottish and I know who my parents are. Happy New Year!" - TONY CURRIE
I remember this before the start of schools programmes at Castlehill Primary School in Bearsden in the 1970s, a very dysfunctional primary school full of spoiled rowdy self-centred kids and a school where teachers could inflict their weird religious beliefs on kids who came from non-religious homes. I can remember one of the slightly more rational teachers telling us the titles of the tunes, saying "That's Charlie is my darling" and "That's 100 Pipers"
Was 405 line TV actually transmitted from Blackhill? I remember being in the Kirk 'o Shotts building in the 80's and being shown the old 405 line transmitters that had never been taken out.
God if I was Scottish this would either reduce me to tears OR make me want to invade England! ;-) IT'S BRILLIANT! I wish ITV would bring back the regions - these start ups have real excitement and occasion about them!
I have been trying to remember this sequence for years, i loved it, and yes, i cried and cried when i heard it again. memories of sunday mornings of all that was on was language programmes and 'on the move' with a young bob hoskins i believe.
Been looking for this for ages! There was one before this, same music but came up with the lion logo at the crescendo at the end. My dad was a service engineer before me, I spent many a happy time in the workshop with the smell of solder in the air and tescards all around! Thanks for posting cw. :)

@alcamus1973 Yes, and the sensible people in Bearsden send their children to private schools in Glasgow and avoid the state schools.

I remember this well. At the time didn't know what all the details meant. I was just waiting for the smurfs to come on.

It seems strange now that on a start up, all the regions transmitter information would always feature.
Grandad with his pipe would of course, know where all of them were etc...
Back in the days when the sun always shone!!
