All animals within the same genome outside of humans have the same number of chromosomes for that genome. If we 'evolved' from the same ancestors as chimps, gorillas, or apes in general, why do we have one less pair of chromosomes? Why is it the species we supposedly evolved from did not go extinct like so many species before them?
