If you think of the graph -2y^2-20y-32=0, it is a downward opening graph and if it crosses the x-axis at x=-8, and x=-2, it is greater than and equal to 0 between(and including) those points...
You could also do like when you divide inequality with negative number, the sign of inequality changes from greater than or even to less than or even.
I was thought this change is obligatory or am I wrong :)
