  • Just wanted to say "Fuck off and Die, Slowly" to the three people who voted "dislike" on this masterpiece.

Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

    Again.

  • i heart the beat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for posting this video - I'm was in the front row in front of Lynval and loved every minute of the show. Fast forward 4 years from this and The English Beat will be playing Bumbershoot again (9/6). I will be there! : )

  • @TheBeatGirl Yeah it was a good show alright and I hope to be there as well! Without the video camera darn it! Love your excitement.. Dave Wakling is one hell of a guy!

  • Dave this is the perfet song for me and chloe dont u say rember when max and sheena where in the same kinder grade and me and chloe would hang out all the time

  • will always love this sound.one of the most under-rated bands EVER!

  • until 2005 it wass very alive . i dont now now its a great musician and the others too

  • Anybody knows if Saxa is still alive ?

  • No, he died a while ago.

  • No he didn't. He was alive and well for VH1's "Bands Reunited."

  • great song, the new english beat are amazing live, rankin roger, rankin jnr and everet on drums

  • The snare is all out of wack. That's why it sounds terrible.

  • I think it might be because of where its recorded from , picking up the drums like that, anyway, the band should follow the drummers timing.

  • What about this song makes you think it's ska?

  • because The Beat were a ska band perhaps?

  • Great Ska!

  • wakeling sounds great...awesome to see lynval in there! But- 1. this is NOT ska- this is a pop/rock song. 2. the drummer playing here SUCKS...it definitely ain't the legendary Everett Morton that's for sure.

  • I hear ya dog. I hated this drumming too.

  • Just watched the Beat at the Rebellion festival 2007 (Blackpool). Great set, but whats with the keep fit routine! At times it was embarrasing. it was like watching a speeded up version of Ian Brown for 45mins.

  • Dommage que Roger et Dave font le Beat chacun de leur coté. Ils sont bons de tous cotés mais j'espère revoir le band complet un jour avec en plus Cox , Steele et ...SAXA himself

  • Where's Ranking Roger? He's the best!

  • Cool song and the Lambretta Scooter Rulez !

  • well.. Um, yes it was The English Beat. Dave himself told me it was his best line up to date. You can't go wrong having Lynval Golding at your side. Get over it, and enjoy the music. Dave alone IS The Beat, that will never change. A fine chap Dave is as well, Long live Ska!

  • Ranking Roger and his son ALSO still perform as THE BEAT and put on a great show.

Come and watch them play in Amsterdam on 11 oct. in the Melkweg!

  • Hey realthing1905. you say you met Dave Wakeling!! I am drooling I love him. Where did you meet him?

  • Hi london girl65, met Dave the first time in Portland, OR. and then at this show in Seattle. Lynval is a dear friend mine so that's how it happend. Got to met Madness when Lynval played with them in Seattle as well.. what times.. Lyvnal is in London right now recording with Pama International and some other things he's doing too.. and I agree Stand Down Margaret is a gem! I have lots of other vids from shows but haven't got around to it, shame on me... all the best and thanks for your comments.

  • Hey thanx for reply, lucky you meeting Madness I loved Suggs too, hey I was only in my teens!! Dave Wakeling was my idol tho, wish I could meet him..... dream on eh???

I think most teenage girlies loved the same as me.....

  • No prob.. a down day here.. yeah Suggs is a cool cat indeed. I was in my teens as well and The English Beat, (as they were called over here" and Maddness were a huge part of the "New Wave" movement as it's refered to here. Anyway Those were the days! Glad they're still giving us great music.

    Dare to Dream London Grirl!

  • Ohhh wot I would give to meet Dave!! Anyway I pressume you r American, you did not say on your profile? I keep playing this video over & over just watching him.... I am to bloody old for this malarky!!!Time machine any one?

I was into lots of 70/80 stuff, also loved Paul Weller (The Jam) Modrevial was cool too, ska and lots of others. Those were the bestest days and the music was better back then to.

  • Hey Londongirl, just an fyi, Dave is VERY approachable and kind. He never forgets a face either. I have met him a few times and every time he remembers me and where we last saw one another! Luckily I live in the same state as he does, and they tour a lot here. LOVE THAT MAN!!! If you get the chance, go right up to him and say hi!!

  • The English Beat is my favorite band. Just want to say that this is N O T The English Beat. This is Dave playing with other musicians Beat songs.

  • ohh im with ya all!docs and a porkpie hat.good ol days.

  • Thank god for real, good, SKA! with so many fakes out there, keeps us dancing after all these years

  • No! Thank you Dave! Thanks for making Portland and Seattle such a blast! Your a true gentalman.

  • thank you thankyou thank you thankyou

  • YeaH! Thanks for digging up this little-remembered one. Anyone remember the B-side (double A side?) Stand Down Margaret? It was often played at university Tory club disco's much to the annoyance of the Tories and the vast amusement of everyone else. I'd like to hear it again if anyone's got it. " I sometimes wondah if I'll ever geteh chance".

  • I remember Stand Down margaret very well as I played it all the time on record!! Loved it!

  • Wow, I'm getting my harrington and trilby out of the wardrobe!
