i just got a 1989 laredo today! 139,000 miles and in very nasty condition. i dont have trans or engine problems but lots of electrical problems and no brakes. ur's is in better condition than mine. and there was a possum living in mine and it was dark out and there was a little suprise sleeping in the front seat. someone left the door open. and mine is very rusty
I just traded a 99 Kia Sephia for a 89 Cherokee almost exactly like your my friend, of course I'm sure the exterior color is different. They're great vehicles, and can tolerate alot of abuse. Just fix what's wrong with it, and it'll tick for 200,000 more miles if not more.
just throw a new motor and trans in it, fix the rust if it has any, and youll be good for another 200,000
If it makes you feel any better, i might be getting one in worse condition than that for my daily driver/first vehicle.. It ticks like hell cause the cam is wearing..

i like jeeps shift points, they revv fast to 3,000 rpm then its like its turboed and your overboosting it! then it goes straight to redline!
my cherokee sport (1996) pushes 240 horsepower (heavily modded)
