I was lucky enough to have see the boys about a dozen times, and everytime was like the greatest. And to see this live, was a special thing to me. This was one of my wifes favs. GOD REST HER SOUL. she's on the other side with jerry and brent, and I know she's jamming with them. LONG LIVE THE ELEMENTS OF LOVE AND APRECIATION>
dam u nrent! why couldn't u seen ur not the new guy ,and they loved u like we did ,f in drugs man another get's lost for it unreal, dam u were the best with brent of all the 30yrs......
I remember hearing the dead for the first time, it was just some snippet (maybe even from a stupid album like Skeletons in the Closet), but it felt like a call to something- my real spirit maybe? I don't know. But there ain't many like that. Recently for me it's been Mississippi John Hurt. A real deep soul, that one.
I was at the 1st 2 shows in Tinley Park. They did the Wheel, maybe my favorite Dead song. People w/o tickets tore down a fence to get in. Sad commentary on things. Yes it was a bad venue, poorly managed, inept cops. But that went against the whole message. I remember traffic was BAD, people abandoned cars on I-80 and walked to the show. We stayed with someone in Midlothian IL who knew backroads & we had no trouble. I had a job interview Mon, ZERO sleep and still reeling, and got the job
This WAS Brent's last shows! I remember being so pleased that the road settled back in IL. (the World Ampitheater), built on cess-pools (literally) to make a mountain. It hurt at times, Brent already let go, but this is a perfect example of how a man shines when his brothers were falling apart. (Been there? Me too....) I love and miss you both.
I remember when I at this show, this was still a "new" song and hadn't won the hearts of the Heads yet. It is still a good version and hints at what it would become.
:( This is just so very very very sad and very very very depressing :( ...this was Brent Mydland's very last show... :( ~R.I.P.*BRENT MYDLAND*October 21,1952-July 26,1990~ :(
No, not really. But then againit does seem long ago too. I am sure that Jerry is in a better place, still playing his music ans singing songs to soothe the soul. Love, Stacey xxxx
Love thiis song always brings a tear though, I was at this show (Brents last). THIS SONG WAS MY DARLIG DEARLY LOVED now deceased wife Beth's favorite song of all. Miss terrribly all those that have gone on now to better palces and know that they are up there standing on the moon and looking down upon us. Peace to all
UH, Obama is war driven too, have you not read his foreign policy and his advisers?
He is for foreign interventionism, just like Bush, the only difference he wants to send more troops to afghanistan, pakistan, and possibly Iran. The other problem is he wants to keep the bases in Iraq and replace the troops with private security forces. Obama is a war monger as well, VOTE THIRD PARTY or INDEPENDENT if you have half a brain. The Dems and the GOP HAVE FAILED!
Vote 3rd party or Independent, and you're voting McCain. Iraq isn't the problem, its Iran and the Saudies. Maybe we should just stop comsuming 2/3's of the worlds energy and stop packing their wallets full of cash. SUV's are like most americans.... robotic gluttenous pigs.
Live simple, so others can simply live.
Instead of stuffin our faces and fillin our tanks, we should be planting trees and gardens.
Do you really think that would've been enough? this was a good one though but sad Brents last.. I wish we could all be together for an endless tour myself

I see Jerry brought out the ol' Wolf for this one!
Some of Hunter's most beautiful lyrics.
Man. Jerry, Keith, Brent and Piggy. Heaven's Heart of Gold Band.

that's cool . . i like the way he ended it . . he played it where it lied . . he didn't force it into the grandiose thing.

It stole my heart the first time I heard it, like it always had, always would,
like hearing Jerry the first time, like I always had, and always would!
like my first show ship of fools I wondered where I had been all my life?
Jerry could make it all magic; then again he was magic, & it was cosmic.

This tune stole Jerry's heart as well...I saw tears in his eyes more than once while playing this song!!

or just whitewash the fact the dead was never into politics...
maybe why people bring it up, because we get tired of these assholes bringing politics into it.
