  • should have been imported in the 80s disney and nickelodeon could have shown it

  • Ни-ччонепонимаю! Колобки жгут однозначно!

  • russians are so creative! man! it's one of the best works that i have not seen in a while

  • There's also the elephant jokes which were told during the Soviet era (and probably still now.)

  • LOL @ how that little servant saying 'please'

  • I just love the running gags in this cartoon. The pseudo-Sherlockian tuba-playing, the obsession with hats, the aquarium that seems to be the center of action at the brothers' apartment, and that button that drives "chef" nuts throughout the episode. XD

  • "Nicho ne ponimayu" XD

  • slon polosatii. pri zvukah fleiti teryaet silu voli )))

  • I fail to understand why they want to use animals as balloons

  • The balloons were in order to get the striped elephant over the walls of the zoo.

  • why did they want to do that

  • Because the elephant belonged to Karbofoss before (who does an illegal trade in rare animals). It's explained at the end of episode 2.

  • I love this "Latest technology" :D

  • There were a few sequels to this film made in the 1990s, by the way. Search Youtube for "Pilot Brothers". I also subtitled them.

  • :))))

  • "da-da", "is belong to me"

Your translation is quite good )

  • LOL loved the bike on railroad bit

  • lazy germans imperialist

    and his turkish servant lol

  • I think you're right. I never noticed that before.

  • I love this. i grew up on russian cartoons but this one has creativiy aswell as a abstract artistic view of it...

  • КЛААААС! Прелесь :D

  • ОБОЖАЮ!!! I JUST LOVE THIS CARTOON! it reminds me how i was watching it on my childhood xD

  • I just love the creativity of this film. How the foreign guy walks around with a chair on his back, how his servant says nothing but "please", how the two brothers love their hats (LOL), and how the elephant loves fish oil. Bottom line: LOVE IT! AWESOME MOVIE!

And did the guy who made this pass away a year ago? Cuz that's what everyone in the comments is saying.....

  • 3:38... :-)

  • This cartoon is one of my favorites. Too bad I cannot find the video tape of this. :-(

  • Awesome cartoon. I love it :D

  • That was awesome. I love it.

  • Fantastic film! I love it!

It seems so strange at the beginning but everything is tied together so nicely, and the way the story is summed up at the beginning of part 3 - yet also seen from Karbofoss' perspective - is truly brilliant work.

    A masterpiece!

  • great cartoon......... :-)

  • Finally decided to watch it (I downloaded it from here months ago), it was really, really great. Things such as the fish in the mouth, the art style, the whole chaos (in a cartoon way) feeling of the short was excellent. Loved it.

  • i never watched this when i was in russia, but the animation is so different from any i have seen in america... i rememebr watching nu pagade XD that was a funny one

  • "Nu, pogodi", actually. :) They're not hard to find on Youtube.

Check out my LiveJournal blog ("Animatsiya in English") if you're interested in some commentary about the region's animation.

  • Aleksandr Tatarskiy R.I.P.

  • the creativity is genius, very haphazardly chaotic, reminded me a little of Fritz the Cat in some places

  • a couple of days ago Tatarskiy passed away :( at 52...

    Very talanted producer...

  • 56.

Yes, I made a few posts about it on my blog "Animatsiya in English" (because almost no English news sources talked about it)

  • Can you please give me a link to ur blog?

  • I can't, because Youtube forbids it. But you can google "Animatsiya in English"...

There are two posts, one on July 23rd and one on July 27th. I'm also in the process of translating an influential article that he wrote in 1986... that should be up sometime this week, hopefully.

  • wow, thanks! great blog!

  • Aleksandr Tatarskiy R.I.P.

  • oh wow... it has been sooo long... i remember reading comics about them and watching cartoons... it's so weird now... but awesome :D... thank you

  • Good lord the guys walks around with a chair tied to his back? The animation style reminds me of AH! Real Monsters that aired in the US in the early 90s.

  • HAHAHA
