i stand by what i said. she seems quite content with her knitting. she is upset by being brought back to reality after indulging in fantasy, not by loneliness.

could it be that you judgementally assume that because she enjoys hobbies that you dont find exciting, and listens to music that doesnt appeal to you, and because she is old that she is lonely. one can be alone without being lonely.

How does the sudden return of her runaway cat and former MIA lover not indicate lonliness? Sugar Pants almost bawled when she realized Mr. LoveKeptMeAlive was still dead- or still not there, anyway.

Granted, some form of dementia or senility is also indicated. You can also take it back to the simplest explanation- she's just dreaming, end of story. All are indicated, none are excluded. The piece itself plays out like simple sketch comedy, but lonliness seems to be the driving force.
