To start with, this computer looks slick. I have gotten lots of compliments on the sharp-looking keyboardAlso, this computer is fast enough to run all of the applications that an office user would want. The 4GB of ram is more than I need for web browsing, photoshop, or coding. Moreover, the side number pad has been helpful for data entry ...

@geeklooptv was this a replacement? i have the same model and was planing on upgrading anyhow but the the over heating start would a cpu upgrade fix this issue ?
@lollerte Me too. Want to clean my noisy fan. Got to a point where I gave up disassembling for fear of breaking something. Didn't come apart very smoothly.
Hi i also noticed that there are two RAM cards i have got a 2gb ram but i wanted to upgrade to a 4gb ram will i need to get two or can i just replace one and will it show up as 4gb ram?
You forgot to download the old hard drive onto the new hard drive. This should be done first using an external box with your new hard drive in it also you have to format your new hard drive. If you did this you would not have to download a new operating system. I think you know this but you should let maybe people know there is a couple of ways to do it. Particularly if they want to save all their data. The way yo did it everything is lost.
@Stringyheads actually I did backup the old hard drive, and the new hard drive was formatted during the OS installation, but I didn't want to go off topic in this video. I wanted to stick strictly to the hard drive replacement.
Hey there. I have this same computer and am having recent issues with the hard drive and battery. Wondering if you've experienced anything similar The hard drive comes up as a windows error and eventually the computer won't boot if we finally turn it off. recently kept it on for 3 days and the errors finally went away. The battery error is weird and only comes up occasionally saying it's detected a problem with it.
hey my laptop will not save anything and when i turn off my laptop everything deletes if i change the hard drive will that solve the problem i am having
Nice to see this video. I'm changing the one in mine but the harddrive is so freaking snug in there I'd swear there is a screw or two on the other side.
Hi, my Acer Aspire 5735z won't boot up. Every time I press the power button, the laptop sounds like it is going to boot up normally. However, the screen stays black and then the laptop turns off after about 5 seconds.
I have tried taking out the battery, and just using the power cable, and still nothing. So it must be something to do with the laptop, rather than the battery or power cable. Do you have any idea what the problem could be?
@CoMeD1eZ have you tested the RAM? It could be that one of the RAM modules has gone bad. An easy way to test is to try booting up the laptop with only one module inserted. If it won't boot with one, try the other. It's highly unlikely (although not impossible) that both RAM modules would go bad at the same time. If the RAM test doesn't change anything, something likely has gone defective on the motherboard. If it is still under warranty, I would suggest contacting Acer for support.
@geeklooptv: I have an almost identical lap top to yours, though it's a different model. So I was wondering... how is the momentus running for you? My HD is failing and I need a new one. I came across this video, and just to be careful in following how you replaced the HD, thought I'd buy the same one you got, if it's reliable enough.
Also, did it say yours was 2.5"? Just want to make sure I'm getting the right one. Thanks.
@CoMeD1eZ your laptop is actually overheating. mine had the same problem. change the fan and clean out any dust with a compressed aerosol can. you can buy the cans at london drugs or any computer shop. if you dont do this soon your motherboard will burnout.
@AMCModders unfortunately no. As with most budget laptops, this one has integrated graphics (not a stand-alone video card that can be replaced or upgraded).
i have the same laptop, but i want to upgrade my memory. do you know by any chance how to replace memory or could possibly link me?
also do you know by any chance if the brand of the memory used will make a big difference? eg consair , kingston etc, cause i dont know what i have at the moment
@nitroxize any brand should be fine. crucial.com has a system scanner you can use that will tell you exactly what kinds of RAM your system will support.
It's as simple as popping out your old RAM and popping in the new RAM.
Check the documentation that came with your laptop or the Acer website, and it should have more specific info on how to replace the RAM.
I have an acer aspire 4920g, I want to upgrade the hdd, would any laptop hdd fit or do I need to stay with the 5400 rpm 8 mb range. Idealy I want to put a 500g/ 7200rpm 16 mb drive in, cheers
@mr930413 I won't say it's impossible, but highly unlikely that it won't recognize a hard drive. If it doesn't recognize it, a BIOS update may fix the problem.

This laptop has a serious heating issue -_-'
Cl3viin 1 month ago
@Cl3viin I think it depends a lot on the CPU. The one in my vid has a Pentium Dual with pretty low clock speed, so it doesn't tend to run very hot.

@geeklooptv I actually have one, and my motherboard temp is always at over 60 degrees and that from start (when the laptop just boot up)
Processor; core i3-380m(2.53Ghz)
and the thing that it is only running utorrent, IDM, and chrome thats it !
Do you think is normal right now its at 66 degrees with only those 3 programs running.

@umraugh Yes. Basically dissecting your laptop for whatever reason voids warranty.
